IIIT Hyderabad, TalentSprint announce PG Certificate in IoT & Smart Analytics

Hyderabad: Today, The International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad (IIITH) and TalentSprint, an NSE Group company, announced the launch of the PG Certificate in IoT & Smart Analytics. The 9-month program is designed both for IoT engineers who want to master analytics as well as other tech professionals and managers from industries disrupted by heavy IoT adoption. A team of faculty leading Smart City research at IIITH will teach participants through live, interactive online classes, and mentor them as they apply learnings on leading industry projects. A few select fresh graduates will also get to join the program. Applications are open for the first cohort due to start in June 2021. Please visit the program page https://iiit-h.talentsprint.com/iot/ to know more and apply.

According to a report from McKinsey Global Institute, IoT adoption, which is increasing exponentially across varied industry verticals including manufacturing, retail, logistics, energy, supply chain, healthcare, etc., has the potential to generate up to $11 trillion in economic value by 2025. However, the growth of IoT needs to be seen in the context of its potential when used in combination with other technologies like AI/ML and Big Data. The existing installed base of five billion plus smartphones, two billion plus personal computers, and one billion plus tablets, when connected, indicate a massive market for IoT transformation. While IoT projects are top priority for organizations, nearly 75% take twice as long to complete because of talent shortage. The industry has a critical need for professionals with expertise in technologies and processes around IoT to fulfill its ambitions of interconnectivity.

International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad, Prof PJ Narayanan, Director, IIITH, IIIT Hyderabad, PG Certificate in IoT & Smart Analytics

Announcing the program, Prof PJ Narayanan, Director, IIITH, said: “IIIT Hyderabad, with its deep focus on Smart City research, has set up several IoT verticals on air quality, building energy, water quantity and quality, street lighting, etc. The Living Lab, the first of its kind India-EU collaboration project, provides a platform for learners, faculty, and industry to collaborate and build new ideas. The PG Certificate in IoT & Smart Analytics, IIITH’s third program in partnership with TalentSprint, is a unique opportunity for working professionals to learn from our world class faculty and work on industry leading projects, some of which might qualify for testing and deployment in our Living Lab. While the first six months of the program will teach foundations and include simple experiments, the last three months will be hands-on application-based learning. At the end of nine months, participants will gain confidence and expertise needed to lead AI-powered IoT deployments in their organizations.”

Dr. Santanu Paul, CEO & Managing Director, TalentSprint said: “TalentSprint offers unique executive education programs to solve the most challenging and pertinent industry problems. All our programs, offered in partnership with top-tier academic institutes, have consistently reported extremely high participant satisfaction. The PG Certificate in IoT & Smart Analytics will meet the industry’s critical need for technical experts required to fulfill its ambitions of interconnectivity. Through this program, we aim to upskill 1000+ professionals over the next 3-5 years. I am delighted to announce this program, and deeply honored by IIITH’s continued trust in us.”

Applications for the first cohort of the PG Level Certification Program in IoT and Smart Analytics, which starts in June 2021, is now open. Please visit the program page https://iiit-h.talentsprint.com/iot/ to know more and apply.

A Seminar by BARC Scientist on “Peaceful and Societal Applications of Nuclear Energy” held

Hyderabad: Social Cause, Hyderabad based think tank, a not for profit organization fondly remembered and celebrated the 124th Birth Anniversary of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose here in the city in a brief function held at LB Nagar.

And it organised a Seminar on  “Peaceful and Societal Applications of Nuclear Energy”. Held at GHMC Community Hall, Near LB Nagar Metro Station, LB Nagar, over a hundred people attended the same.

Dr. Tirumalesh Keesari, Scientific Officer—G, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai was the principle speaker Dr. Pandith Madhnure, Director Ground Water Development, Govt of Telangana;  Dr. B. Somaiah, Scientist F, Technology Director, Centre for Higher Energy Systems & Sciences, DRDO, Hyderabad were guests of honour.

Speaking on the occasion Dr Keesara said Words like Nuclear and Atomic are associated with destruction, but very few people know that it is used for peaceful and societal applications.

The words “nuclear” and “atomic” normally frightening to many of us, but very few realise that nuclear energy and related technology have been critical tools in uplifting human life and standard of living since more than half a century.

As many as 30 countries including the major giants of Asia, India and China, use nuclear power for generating electricity, said Dr. Tirumalesh Keesari.

However, the applications of nuclear energy have grown tremendously in the non-energy fields such as food production, human health and environmental protection, he added.

Bhabha Atomic Research Centre of Department of Atomic Energy, India has been playing a pivotal role in promoting the use of radioisotopes for food, agriculture, industry, medicine, water resources and the environment, he shared.

Of late isotope hydrology has been the focus area for the department. Naturally occurring isotopes, as well as reactor-produced isotopes, have been applied to understand a variety of hydrological processes and provide simple solutions to the growing water issues in the country. Some of the success stories include identification of the source of fluoride in groundwater, estimation of groundwater ages in deep zones, rejuvenating drying springs in Himalayan states, the impact of climate change on glaciers and role of paleochannels on groundwater recharge.

In Telangana, Dr. Tirumalesh Keesari said, isotope techniques were employed to verify the positive impact of desiltation of natural tanks on groundwater levels as well as fluoride contamination. The program was chaired by Dr. B. Dinesh Kumar, President of Social Cause

A creative campaign by the Hyderabadi retailer to encourage the use of face mask

Hyderabad Face MaskHyderabad: Hyderabad based 132-year-old Maqdoom Bros located at Madina embarked on a novel initiative to encourage the use of face mask. The socially important information which is given in an appealing way to encourage more people to use a face mask to stay safe and healthy has been attracting many visitors to the story.

This is an effort to portray the importance of face masks and its relentless fight against the COVID-19 pandemic puts the retailer.

They have set up a 10 feet mannequin, which Abid Mohiuddin, one of the three brothers of the store says is the world’s tallest mannequin dressed up with blazer(coat) and trouser, both together they call it a suite is made by using 250 medical masks.

The idea behind it says another brother Faiz Mohiuddin, wearing a mask and maintaining physical distance is the only preventive measures to protect ourselves from the dreaded virus–Corona. What could be the best way to make our visitors, customers and hundreds and thousands of the local people who pass by as well as tourists(whatever the few numbers) realize the importance of mask by setting up a giant ‘mannequin’.

“The mannequin and the giant size suit when seen by visitors to the store and passersby should inspire others also to wear one”, he adds. Every mannequin in the store is also masked.

Maqdoom Bros, the 132 years old store being run by fourth-generation retailers always come out with unique ideas and initiatives on socially sensitive issues.

Masks offer protection to us and are also meant to protect those around us, in case we are unknowingly infected with the virus that causes COVID-19 to say Abid, Hamid and Faiz three brothers.

When asked why they were doing this at the fag end of the corona as Vaccine is around the corner.

They say shops were closed till the end of June. Customers were not visiting till the end of August. We could see footfall around September. But, that was the time people also started talking about the second wave. That is when we though as responsible citizens and socially conscious corporate citizens, we must to something and come up with this unique idea. Now even after vaccinated, experts suggest that people must wear masks. That is why we have come out with this unique giant size mask man about a week back they explained.. We have got the mannequin made especially for the purpose. We have spent rupees three lakhs in getting the Mask Maharaja as well as the outfit, shared Faiz Mohiuddin.

Some people avoid mask because they find them uncomfortable or reasons best known to them. To encourage a positive attitude towards cultivating this habit, we wanted to do something unique to spread a positive word about it. To promote this culture, we randomly offer our customers who wear masks some discounts.

We have also been distributing masks to people without masks passing through our shop. This was also well received, they shared.

The research suggested that if two people meet and neither is wearing a mask, the risk of transmission of the virus is very high. If one of them is wearing a mask, the risk is medium and if both are wearing a mask, the risk is low. So, people should keep their faces covered with a mask and also ask others to do so for the benefit of the community.

Our message is simple. It is life, not a laugh. Your mask protects you and also protects others. Others masks protect them and you. So it is simple. I wear a mask to protect you. And you wear a mask to protect me. Wear a mask and protect yourself. Mask is the best defence against the virus. You don’t need another external help, they informed

Maqdoom Bros started in 1895. We were official catered to Nizams, the rulers of the Hyderabad State. Maqdoom Bros have also presented some of their ethnic wear to some global leaders when they visited India. They have also presented Sherwanis to some of the visiting cricketers and others.

Maqdoom Bros has become a destination for many visitors to the city for ethnic wear

Trouw Nutrition launches its state-of-the-art animal nutrition facility in Telangana

Hyderabad: The state-of-the-art maiden production facility of Trouw Nutrition, the animal nutrition division of Dutch global company Nutreco, in India, was virtually inaugurated by the Netherlands Ambassador to India, Mr. Marten Van den Berg, at Jadcherla near Hyderabad, today. Nutreco, through its two reputed brands, Trouw Nutrition and Skretting, is a global leader in animal and aqua nutrition bringing innovative feed additives, premixes, and nutritional services.

The one of its kind new production facility from Trouw Nutrition has high-end technology designed to deliver superior quality premix for customers in South Asia. With 20,000 MT/ annum capacity, it is one of the largest premix production facilities in this part of Asia, dedicated to producing vitamins, mineral premixes, mineral blends, and feed safety solutions for all species. Its unique 45-meter-high tower at the new premises, facilitates vertical flow from raw materials to finished product stage, encompassing the complete production cycle from weighing of the raw material to packaging of the finished product. The completely automated and ERP integrated production process has minimal manual intervention to ensure high precision, unmatched quality, and utmost safety. The facility is equipped with a cold store for the storage of vitamins and heat-sensitive ingredients.

Speaking on the occasion Mr. Marten Van den Berg said, India is looking for opportunities and for attracting foreign companies to increase the Indian share in the global value chain, many foreign firms have been here for a very very long time, similarly several Dutch firms have a large footprint in India. Today, Trouw Nutrition an arm of the Dutch-based Nutrico, with more than 90 years’ experience in Animal Nutrition, which started their operations in the Netherlands have been able to successfully capture the Animal Nutrition market globally. It is spectacular to see huge investment in India by Trouw of over Euros 20 mn to set up two plants. Trouw Nutrition has made enormous investments in fundamental innovative research of animal nutrition, forming the basis for improved animal welfare worldwide. India has a great potential to become one of the most important dairy producers in the world by improving productivity through breeding and feeding and the output can be easily doubled or even tripled, which is also the mantra of the current Indian government, to double the income of farmers by 2022. Using innovative and sustainable solutions India can become an important exporter of dairy products for global consumption. India and the Netherlands are natural partners in Agriculture and in dairy. India is the world’s largest producer and consumer of milk and the Netherlands has 5% of the world dairy trade and therefore is a natural partner for India. Therefore, the Dutch dairy sector is looking for collaboration with India. India has tremendous potential in this sector. Similar to India, the Agricultural sector in the Netherlands is family-based, this makes it easier to understand the challenges of Indian farmers. After having a global health crisis like COVID 19 it is important that the people of the world consume safe food. Trouw Nutrition is committed to the cause of responsible use of antibiotics and food safety. Having a manufacturing unit in India can help to increase productivity per animal to feed the growing population. The Netherlands has demonstrated that these technologies have attained good production levels and the next step is to ensure pure sustained growth of livestock. Dutch Dairy companies are dynamic and innovative in nature, they all have one thing in common, that is to strive to produce more with less, to contribute to the health of the animal and environment, and achieve the highest quality product for human consumption. In the Netherlands we believe in the triple helix model, Industry, Government and research institutions working together, this is particularly important for increasing animal productivity and create sustainable solutions to prevent infections and diseases in animals. Worldwide changes are happening fast today, climate change, growing demand for quality products and growing pressure on agricultural land, in this changing scenario all countries have to work together, very close collaborations are needed to achieve the sustainable development goals, this is where Netherlands and India can closely work together. Looking at the potential and resources of India it is the right time to taking more initiatives to develop new collaborations and also strengthen or expand the existing ones between the two countries and on this note I hereby declare the opening of Trouw Nutrition in India, which I can rightfully say is one of the important steps taken in strengthening the cooperation that India and Netherlands share in the field of dairy. I appreciate the efforts that everyone has put in to make this initiative a reality. This facility will certainly increase the sustainable impact and bring in good practices in animal health and welfare.

Decades of hands-on expertise at Trouw ensures optimal and homogenous premixing of minerals and vitamins, which often is the key differentiator in maintaining the robust health of animals. Several such globally tested and established practices being implemented here, enable us to provide responsible and cost-effective solutions to our customers and progressive farmers. These make us stand out as leaders in the animal nutrition domain, says Dr. Saurabh Shekhar, Managing Director, South Asia, Nutreco.

This new production facility located on a four-acre land, besides being Trouw’s contribution to Atmanirbhar Bharat – Make in India initiative, brings in enormous operations efficiencies for the company with lesser turnaround time and better customizations as per customer’s needs. Telangana was an apt choice for locating the facility in India, considering its easy accessibility and being an investor-friendly state. Even from a market perspective, it’s a major poultry and aqua belt with logistical access to good ports. The facility will primarily cater to India first and later to the markets of Bangladesh, Nepal, and Sri Lanka.

Trouw Nutrition’s product mix supports the nutritional needs of animals at different stages of their lifecycle, be it the Life start range meant for the feed, vitality, and performance of young animals. Health & welfare array of products enable reduction of antibiotic usage, supports intestinal health, and provides nutritional solutions for specific challenges in animals. The third set of products, the Precision Nutrition range includes feed additives for production efficiency, emissions reduction, feeds for maximum growth, and potential.

In consonance with its global best practices, Trouw Nutrition has brought in several of its value-added services to benefit the customers here. Its Antimicrobial Resistance Programme enables antibiotics usage reduction, efficient microbial control, enhanced gut integrity, and efficient animal production. The Feed Safety Programme ensures safe feed by preserving nutritional value, the Mycotoxin Risk Management Programme enables risk assessment, monitoring, and control. The Trace Mineral Programme ensures optimum trace mineral supply to enhance growth and performance.

Trouw’s end to end solutions leverage its rich repository of a mix of superior products, dedicated services, and proficient people. This customer-centric approach aids farmers and our customers at all the necessary interventional points of feed, farm, and animal health and enables them to reap maximum productivity and profitability, says Dr. Saurabh Shekhar.

Trouw is adopting a seamless integrated solution approach in India by focusing on innovative technologies like Mycomaster, NutriOpt On-site Adviser (NOA), along with a dedicated Customer Service Laboratory, MasterLab at Hyderabad. The digital platform, NutriOpt On-site Adviser (NOA), helps in accurate nutrient analysis to achieve precision nutrition goals of farmers and feed millers, while Mycomaster provides a quick analysis of mycotoxins to enable quick decision making by customers. MasterLab, which is the largest chain of customer service laboratories in the animal nutrition industry, conducts varied analytical assays for complete feed, raw materials, and water, using state-of-the-art equipment, modern techniques, and highly qualified laboratory technicians.

Nutreco has both organic and inorganic growth plans to expand its footprints in South Asia. Though currently, the company’s thrust is on the B2B segment, the next steps are to foray into the B2F segment. NuFrontiers, the investment arm of Nutreco, has invested strategically in start-ups globally, including the Internet of Things (IoT) enterprise, Eruvaka in India for innovations in aquaculture. These initiatives will leverage the strengths, streamline long-term strategies, and position the Company firmly to take on the challenges ahead in the animal and aqua production domain. In fact, Eruvaka a Vijayawada based start-up helps in enhancing freshwater fishing substantially, we saw good results in India from this solution and took it globally, the most successful application of this is in Ecuador, where Eruvaka is helping farmers to increase their productivity.

Dr. Reddy’s and RDIF commence clinical trials for Sputnik V vaccine in India

Hyderabad: Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd. (BSE: 500124, NSE: DRREDDY, NYSE: RDY), and Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) announced today that they have commenced adaptive phase 2/3 clinical trials for Sputnik V vaccine in India after receiving the necessary clearance from the Central Drugs Laboratory, Kasauli, India. This will be a multicenter and randomized controlled study, which will include safety and immunogenicity study.

The clinical trials are being conducted by JSS Medical Research as the clinical research partner. Further, Dr. Reddy’s has partnered with the Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC), Department of Biotechnology (DBT) for advisory support and to use BIRAC’s clinical trial centres for the vaccine.

Recently, RDIF announced the second interim analysis of clinical trial data, which showed 91.4% efficacy for the vaccine on day 28 after the first dose; vaccine efficacy over 95% 42 days after the first dose. Currently, 40,000 volunteers are taking part in Phase III of Sputnik V clinical trials, out of which over 22,000 have been vaccinated with the first dose of the vaccine and more than 19,000 – with both the first and second doses of the vaccine.

Pandemic increases demand in suburbs in Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Delhi-NCR, and Pune

Only a little while ago, potential homebuyers were researching best localities to buy a house near their workplace. Data from India’s leading real estate platform, NoBroker.com, shows how it has all changed since the onset of the pandemic. Earlier, proximity to workplace took the topmost spot among homebuyers’ considerations. But ever since the Covid-19 outbreak triggered the new normal and work from home became the norm, the demand in areas other than the ones located near IT hubs has been increasing.

Over the last decade or so, the significance of “dream” in “dream house” had waned with people prioritising the area or the locality instead of the size and even the quality of the unit. For instance, in cities such as Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Chennai that are notorious for their traffic, homebuyers have traditionally preferred staying close to their office to save commute time, often at the cost of their lifestyle-related preferences. But all that is changing for the better.

In the wake of the pandemic, many companies have mentioned that their employees would continue to work from home until June 2021. Consequently, homebuyers are looking to buy properties that are not only more spacious but also located in less populated areas, irrespective of their distance from the workplace. This trend is reflected in the fact that in Bangalore, localities such as Whitefield, Marathahalli, HSR Layout, and Electronic city which were high in demand pre-Covid have experienced a decrease. Conversely, new localities that are attracting greater interest from homebuyers post-May 2020 include Horamavu (32%), Yelahanka (56%), RT Nagar (42%), and Hebbal (36%). Currently, space is a bigger concern for working-class couples as they need a home that can accommodate two workstations along with a study room for kids. The prices in areas that are not strategically located around IT hubs are more affordable and living conditions are better as they experience less traffic. The NoBroker portal has registered a growing demand for bigger houses like 3 and 4 BHKs.

A similar pattern is being observed in Chennai as well. The platform has received more queries for localities such as Ambattur (46%), Perambur (105%), Kolathur (77%), Mylapore (31%) and Valasaravakkam (26%) in Chennai. Only a few months ago, the more popular and in-demand areas were Velachery, Madipakkam, Pallikaranai, Porur, and Choolaimedu. The data at the platform also indicated a similar trend in Hyderabad where areas such as Malkajgiri (26%), Kothapet (18%), Nagole (19%), Toli Chowki (9%) and Ramachandra Puram (12%) are more in demand than ever before.

People are prioritizing better lifestyle over staying closer to work. The benefits of this development are many. It would help reduce stress from popular areas and distribute the population more evenly for better management of resources. Further, this trend might even be the representative of a larger, nationwide sentiment because the platform has found this trend to be dominant in Delhi-NCR and Pune as well. In Delhi-NCR, some of the regions that are experiencing a spike in demand in the post-pandemic landscape include Rohini (126%), Dwarka (73%), Vaishali (69%), Okhla (53%), and Indirapuram (53%). In Pune, the regions that homebuyers are showing keener interest in include Baner (28%), Ambegaon BK (16%), Wadgaon Sheri (31%), Hinjewadi (68%), and Wagholi (25%).

Saurabh Garg, Co-founder and Chief Business Officer of NoBroker.com said, “The work from a home culture has helped demand spread more evenly across the cities of Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad and suburbs are seeing a surge in demand. This is a good change as it has helped price correction in a couple of localities and people do not have to compromise on space, size and locality in order to stay close to their workplace. It gives builders also a good opportunity to build and develop more areas and not fixate on areas around IT hubs only. But the key thing is that this change is bringing people closer to buying a house. They can buy with the available corpus instead of compromising on lifestyle to save up to buy in high demand areas. The pandemic has given people an understanding that the satisfaction that comes from owning a house is equal to none other.”

Even after offices open by next year, many employees will continue to work from home. Work from home has proven beneficial for both employees as well as organizations. Amid the crisis, many big companies have come to grips with the benefits of the work from a home model of continuing business as usual. Not only does it affect employee productivity, but also helps the firms in cutting down on costs that they incur when offices operate in full capacity.

The best takeaway is that people are closer than ever to consider taking the plunge of buying a house. This is a good thing for the sector that has been battling a slump for a few years now.

As the app offers convenient and secure living with numerous helpful features, the growth is fueled by imperatives such as social distancing and staying home due to pandemic scare.

As India entered into first lockdown and uncertainty regarding procuring daily essentials sent people into a state of frenzy, the app launched a grocery store overnight and was quick to partner with grocery giants- Bigbasket and ITC, to help society residents by optimizing deliveries.

Not just that, it has also launched an array of features to help residents mitigate the risk of Covid-19. Many of these features are first of their kind such as Touchless Entry using facial recognition that detects residents and frequent visitors such as domestic help, drivers, and other staff without physical contact. The app is also integrated with Aarogya Setu to ensure that visitors entering the society do not bring in any risk of infection. The Health tracker feature on the app which was also launched in the interest of safety gives hyperlocal details about containment zones near the society and if a visitor is coming from one.

NoBroker is a tech-driven platform and uses advanced technologies to the benefit of the customers. As a testimony to the tech innovations in NoBrokerHood, the app has experienced 8x growth over the last 4-5 months. It grew from less than 1000 societies to over 6000 societies quickly. Expanding to more cities was the next natural step and it has already been onboarded by famous societies across the newly launched cities; Silver Crown in Jaipur, DLF Galleria in Kolkata, Indraprastha Tower in Ahmedabad, Empress city in Nagpur and Trinity World in Kochi.

Commenting on the fast expansion, Amit Agarwal, CEO and Cofounder of NoBroker said, “We have launched over 11 new features in the NoBrokerHood app over the last 4 months in the interest of resident safety during these trying times. We want more and more cities and more and more societies to benefit from it. The scope of growth in cities where the app is newly launched is immense. Combined they have over 8500 gated societies and over 11,00,000 flats. We saw this opportunity amidst the pandemic and quickly launched NoBrokerHood in the interest of convenience. We are very humbled by the warm reception that we have received from these cities. We have always been a customer-centric company and all of what we do and innovate hinges on customer experience. We are happy to be able to bring the safety experience to more and more societies.”

City Number of Societies Number of flats
Ahmedabad 2822 366860
Jaipur 1215 97,200
Kolkata 2500 4,00,000

Society living is increasingly becoming the preferred option by most people today because of the many benefits and amenities that are packaged with gated communities. NoBroker believes that the pandemic necessitated the launch of these security features. India has over 2 lakh societies and NoBroker feels it has just scratched the surface and there is a lot more to conquer. The app which went live in 2018 is onboarded by over 6000 societies across Mumbai, Bangalore, Pune, Chennai, Delhi-NCR, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Nagpur, and Kochi. It is aiming to be present in 20 cities by 2021.
