Kalki 2898 AD’ Wins Two National Film Awards, Makers Celebrate Major Milestone

Kevadia (Gujarat), Sept. 23: The sci-fi epic ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ added another major achievement to its record after securing two honours at the 72nd National Film Awards.

The Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan-starrer was named Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment, while Nitin Zihani received the National Award for Best Production Design for his work on the film.

Directed by Nag Ashwin and produced by Vyjayanthi Movies, the film was recognised for its ambitious visual world and its fusion of Indian mythology, futuristic storytelling and science-fiction elements.

Vyjayanthi Movies Celebrates Double Recognition

The production house took to social media to celebrate the honours, describing the achievement as a milestone for the entire team behind the film.

“A DREAM. A JOURNEY. A celebration of CINEMA,” Vyjayanthi Movies said while expressing gratitude to the jury of the 72nd National Film Awards for recognising the film.

The makers also congratulated Nitin Zihani on his National Award for Best Production Design, calling the recognition a moment of pride for the entire ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ team.

The awards were presented by President Droupadi Murmu at the prestigious ceremony in Kevadia, Gujarat.

Director Nag Ashwin, producers Swapna Dutt and Ashwini Dutt, along with members of the film’s team, attended the event.

A Futuristic Take On Indian Mythology

Released in 2024, ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ presents a futuristic world while drawing extensively from Indian mythology. The film combines science fiction, action and mythological themes in a large-scale cinematic narrative.

The film features an ensemble cast led by Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone, Shobana and Disha Patani.

The twin National Film Awards add another significant recognition to a film that marked an ambitious attempt to combine Indian mythological themes with a futuristic visual and storytelling framework.

After 10 Years of Hard Work, ‘Bhaktidwar’ Launched; Anup Jalota Says, “It Is a Gateway to Devotion and Peace”

Sept 12: Mumbai witnessed the grand launch of the ‘Bhaktidwar Television App’, a platform that brings together devotion, spirituality and modern technology. Legendary bhajan singer and Padma Shri awardee Anup Jalota launched the app and also unveiled its logo. Guests at the event were given a glimpse of the religious and spiritual programs that will soon be available on the platform.

Actors Sandeep Mohan and Sanjay Swaraj from the film and television industry were also present at the launch. Both actors have worked on special shows created for ‘Bhaktidwar’. All the guests and contributors present at the event were felicitated with mementos.
Dinesh Asopa, founder of the ‘Bhaktidwar Television App’, revealed that the project has been a long-cherished dream that took nearly a decade to become a reality.

“I have been working on this app for the last 10 years. Our objective was not merely to create another OTT platform, but to build a digital destination where people can access devotional, spiritual and Sanatan Dharma-related content under one roof. Seeing this dream finally become a reality is a very special moment for me,” said Asopa.

He explained that ‘Bhaktidwar’ will feature religious series, devotional music, mantras, chalisas, spiritual discourses, AI-generated videos, animation content and live telecasts of religious events. The platform aims to take Sanatan culture and spiritual values to audiences in India and across the world through modern technology.

The subscription fee for the app has been kept at just ₹11 per week, making it affordable and accessible to a wider audience.

Speaking at the launch, Padma Shri Anup Jalota praised the initiative and said, “I have myself entered Bhaktidwar. It is not just an app; it is a gateway to devotion, happiness and peace. Today, people are going through stress, anxiety and mental pressure. In such times, remembering God, listening to bhajans and connecting with spirituality can bring true peace to the mind. I believe Bhaktidwar will connect millions of people with spirituality and bring positivity into their lives.”
He further added, “Today’s younger generation is also embracing devotional music and spiritual content. When a person is under stress, there is no greater comfort than remembering God and immersing oneself in devotion. Bhaktidwar is a wonderful initiative that carries this positive thought forward.”

Dinesh Asopa expressed his gratitude to Anup Jalota for his guidance and support, which, he said, played a significant role in bringing the project to life.
Several special series created for ‘Bhaktidwar’ have been directed by filmmaker Jaidev Chakravorty, presenting spiritual themes in a contemporary format while retaining their devotional essence.

The event was hosted by Bhawna Sharma, a well-known anchor associated with Doordarshan Dehradun, who conducted the proceedings of the launch ceremony.

Celebrated Vocalist Vidushi Shubha Mudgal regales the audience at the 32nd Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Award Festival

Bhubaneswar| Sept 05:: The 32^ndGuru Kelucharan Mohapatra (GKCM) Award Festival, organised by Srjan – Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Odissi Nrityabasa in collaboration with Sri Sri University (SSU), Cuttack commenced with much grandeur on September 5 here at Rabindra Mandap. The five-day cultural extravaganza scheduled from September 5–9 at 7 pm daily features a stellar line-up of classical music, dance, and theatre performances.

This year’s edition of this premier classical event in the cultural calendar of Odisha coincides with the commemoration of the birth centenary year celebrations of revered Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra. The inaugural evening witnessed a befitting opening with the celebrated Hindustani vocalistand music luminary Vid. Shubha Mudgal captivating the Bhubaneswar audience with her melodic excursion.

The programme commenced punctually at 7 pm, with the welcome address and the auspicious lighting of the lamp by the esteemed dignitaries for the evening, Pt. Anup Jalota, Veteran Singer and Eminent Music Luminary; Shri Ashok Kumar Tripathy, Former Member, Board of Revenue, Govt. of Odisha& Independent External Monitor, HAL; Shri Pankaj Lochan Mohanty, Chief Managing Director, MGM Minerals Ltd.; Prof. Tej Partap, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, SSU; Guru Ratikant Mohapatra, Director, Srjan, and Dean, Faculty of Arts, Communication and Indic Studies, SSU.

Thereafter, Vid. Shubha Mudgal began her presentation with two compositions in the beautiful and melodious Raag Bageshri. The first was a composition centred around the birth of Lord Krishna in Vilambit set to Rupak Taal. The lyrics, Mangal Gao Mai Aaj Lal Ko Janm Dyosai, Baajat Rang Badhaairang sonorous in the halls of Rabindra Mandap. She then presented a composition in Madhyalaya set to Teen Taal. A composition of her revered Guru Pt. Ramashreya Jha “Ramrang,”Khelan Mangat Chaand Kanhayi, resonated the devotional spirit of Krishna Janmashtami and the aura of the intricacies of Raag Bageshri. Widely recognised as one of India’s leading classical vocalists, she then rendered abeautiful and soulful composition in Raag Gaur Malhar, after which she explored the intricacies of the Khayal, Thumri, and Dadra, a testament to her expansive musical vocabulary.

A Padma Shri and Rajiv Gandhi National Sadbhavana Award recipient, she treated the audience to a masterclass in Hindustani vocal euphony rendered with deep musical imagination and stylistic nuance. She was skilfully accompanied by the resounding cadence of Dr. Aneesh Pradhan on the Tabla, the melodic notes of Shri Sudhir Nayak on the Harmonium, and Sushree Nilima Pradhan on the Tanpura. Shri Nitin Joshi provided brilliant technical support as her Chief Sound Engineer. Immersed in the Art of Hindustani vocal music for almost five decades, she drew from her vast and expressive repertoire to providea befitting inauguration to the festival. The proceedings for the evening were conducted seamlessly by the eloquent Dr. Mrutyunjaya Rath.

Srjan awaits another evening of artistic expression on September 6 which features a Sarod recital by Pt. Tejendra Narayan Majumdar accompanied by Shri Satyajit Talwalkar on Tabla, followed by a solo Odissi recital by Smt. 49th Barsha 2026: A Grand Celebration of Indian Classical Arts and Monsoon Culture

Aug 24: The 49th Barsha 2026, presented by Chinta O Chetana, will bring together a vibrant selection of Indian classical dance and music traditions for a celebration of art, culture and the monsoon season.

The festival is scheduled to be held at Rabindra Mandap on August 25 and 26, 2026, from 7 PM onwards. The programme will feature Odissi, Bharatanatyam and Sattriya dance performances, along with Odissi and Hindustani vocal recitals and instrumental presentations.

Aug 24: AntarHriday Connect, in collaboration with the State Bank of India (SBI) and in support of KVA DAV College, Karnal, is set to host a special performance-cum-workshop celebrating the rich heritage and evolving expression of Hindustani classical music.

Scheduled for 1 September 2026 (Tuesday) at 10:30 AM at the KVA DAV College Auditorium, Karnal, the programme will bring together established musicians and emerging talent under the theme “Tradition. Expression. Evolution. – Nurturing the Eternal Journey of Hindustani Music.”

The event is designed as an inspiring learning and performance platform for music students, musicians and music enthusiasts. It will offer participants an opportunity to experience Hindustani music through live performances while reflecting on the importance of tradition, individual expression and the evolution of the art form.

The centrepiece of the programme will be a performance-cum-workshop by Pt. Subrata De, who will engage with participants through his musical expertise and provide insights into the nuances, traditions and evolving dimensions of Hindustani music.

Join us for an extraordinary evening of Jewish music, featuring former Israeli hostage Daniella Gilboa, acclaimed pianist Simon Tedeschi AM, 2025 IFAC Handa Australian Singing Competition winner Sidra Nissen, award-winning cellist Rebecca Herman, Carols by Candlelight vocalist Jemma Cher, soul powerhouse and SHIR performer Sarit Michael, brothers Ezra and Menachem Israel, and Fiddler On The Roof star violinist and Director of SHIR Ben Adler, and the CHUTNEY ensemble.

This unforgettable concert celebrates the beauty of diverse musical traditions, through inspiring collaborations with guest artists to be announced soon from Indian, Iranian, and Christian backgrounds.

UNBREAKABLE is an opportunity for the Australian Jewish community to come together through music and celebrate the richness of Jewish musical traditions, contemporary Israeli music and the extraordinary artists who continue to share these stories through performance.

The concert also reflects the universal power of music to create connection, while remaining firmly rooted in Jewish music, culture and identity.
