DGP Haryana talks about cybercrime in IIM Rohtak

Rohtak, 13th May 2024: The Indian Institute of Management Rohtak had the distinct honor of hosting Shri ShatrujeetKapur, IPS, Director General of Police, Haryana. During his visit, the dignitary delivered a keynote address on people management, the role of digital technology, and contemporary issues in security, especially cybersecurity, to IPL (Integrated Programme in Law) students and shared valuable insights with the audience. The event also featured an engaging interaction between the esteemed guests and the students.

Prof. Dheeraj Sharma, Director, IIM Rohtak expressed his delight and honor at having Shri ShatrujeetKapur. Professor Sharma urged students to seize the opportunity to engage with Shri Kapurby enriching their experiences. He also encouraged students to take up internships and projects in the field of cybercrimes and write white papers and/or case studies.

Reflecting on insights from his experience, Shri Kapur emphasized the importance of delegating routine tasks to focus on strategic planning and working on new initiatives. He noted the tendency to perform urgent tasks often at the expense of important concerns like training and capacity building. Shri Kapur urged maintaining focus on important matters despite the allure of urgency, cautioning against the potential loss of sight of critical long-term goals in the face of immediate demands. He underlined that the effectiveness of one’s tenure ultimately relies on adept people management, citing the essential role of managing teams and leadership. While highlighting the importance of professional competence, Shri Kapur also underscored the significance of empathy, fairness, honesty, and courage in leadership behaviors. Encouraging every individual to be an aspiring leader, he advocated for conscious goal-setting, prioritization, and a focused approach to task management over multitasking.

While discussing the issue of security, Mr. Kapur highlighted the increasing importance of cybercrimes (Rs 500 crores equivalent)vis-à-vis more traditional crimes (10 crores equivalent) in the state of Haryana. In every day there are about 250 victims of cybercrimes and many of them are educated but hesitant to report the same. He elaborated on the measures taken to combat cybercrime such as establishing a reporting portal and helpline number (1930) to aid victims and ensuring prompt response from local jurisdictions. He emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts with banks through dedicated teams of law enforcement in facilitating immediate assistance to victims.

Drawing parallels to medical emergencies, Shri Kapur emphasized the critical importance of timely reporting in the proper resolution of cybercrimes. Other areas of focus include scrutiny of SIM card issues and addressing lax practices within banking institutions, particularly regarding KYC procedures, to prevent identity theft. He expressed satisfaction that Haryana Police’s proactive approach resulted in it being recognized as nationally the number one region in blocking illicit, cybercrime-related transactions.

Elaborating on governmental measures to check cybercrime, Shri Kapur drew attention to the recent announcement of cyber warrior positions by the Gurgaon police, which garnered over 11,000 applications. Besides delving into cybercrime, he also emphasized the importance of understanding the workings of law enforcement agencies for law students. He highlighted the pivotal role of police stations as the initial responders for setting the legal proceedings in motion and offered students of IIM Rohtak internships at 122 police stations in Haryana to gain firsthand experience in this increasingly critical area.

Vintage Car Drive In Gurugram, An Inititate Of ‘Pehle Chai Held On Valentine’s Day…

Gurugram: Hoots and cheers was what this valentine’s days were all about! A spectacular affair leaving the crowd spell bound- “Vintage Car Drive” an initiative of Pehle Chai- as held on Sunday, 14th February, 2021. This show stopper Vintage Car Drive was organised by Pehle Chai, a Gurugram based start-up in association with HMCI. It aimed to create awareness about the vaccination drive and was a reminder to people to be alert and safe and go for vaccination.

Vintage Car Drive was flagged-off from Chhattarpur Farms New Delhi, followed the Faridabad-Gurugram Road route then vintage cars drive have entered in Gurugram and culminated at Sushant lok, Gurugram at Pehle Chai outlet.

The car drive featured 21 Vintage cars & Vinatge Bikes driven by aficionados from different walks of life. Some of the eminent personalities such as Dr. Vikram Singh & Dr Renu Yadav Directors of Aarvy Healthcare Super Speciality Hospital and collectors such as Mr. Diljeet Titus- 1957 Chevrolet BelAir, Mr. S. B. Jatti- 1965 Ford Mustang, Mr Sam Shahani -1932 Ford B & others drove the vintage cars.

The occasion was graced by Chief Guest, Mr. Anil Rao, IPS (Retired) & Adviser, Public Safety, Greivances, Good Governance and overall incharge, CM Window, Haryana.

Organizer of the vintage car drive, Mrs. Sanjana Mohan, Director, Pehle Chai said “This vintage car drive which showcased the rich automotives was an awareness initiative that aimed to highlight the benefits of vaccination and aimed at creating awareness on being alert, keeping safe and that people should go for vaccination which is important to get the nation out of this pandemic.”

Also present on the occasion Dr. Vikram Singh, Director of Aarvy Healthcare Super Speciality Hospital said, As Indian we are proud to have more than 80 Lacs vaccinations in 28 Days. It was encouraging to get full support and enthusiasm from the participants especially as the drive was an awareness initiative to further lend support to the government.”

Vocal for local has become our goal for Atmanirbhar Bharat. We need to become a global factory in every vertical and have a youth-driven workforce that is passionate towards building a prosperous nation, deliberated Mr. Mahesh Poddar, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Jharkhand (BJP) in a webinar organized by PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry on ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’.

Mr. Poddar said that this need to be Atmanirbhar is not just our PM’s clarion call but our motto. He also mentioned India already has an abundance of natural and food resources to cater to the national and international demands. We need to create opportunities for employment & entrepreneurship and increase skill development among the working citizens to become self-reliant.

He also added that we need to focus on the overall development of all states and every sector of our country should be made Atmanirbhar. Also the businessmen and industrialists should be given importance in this process of attaining self-reliance. Mr. Poddar highlighted that there is a reduction in the trade deficit between India and China. India is growing in the automobile sector and India can give quality goods of international standards.

Mr. Ramesh Chander Kaushik, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), Sonipat Constituency, Haryana mentioned that under the vision of our Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, India is moving towards becoming Atmanirbhar. He deliberated that the motto of Vocal for Local has led to emergence of small industries in his constituency and throughout India as well.  He also mentioned that Vocal for local can only be adopted with the help and support of the industry. He stressed on the fact that not only should products be ‘made in India’, but the promotion of those products should take place so as to make those products competitive at a global level.

He added that the industry is also working on creating more employment opportunities which will help India strengthen the economy. Promotion of local products will also help establish India as a manufacturing hub.

Mr. Sunil Kumar Singh, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), Chatra Constituency, Jharkhand (BJP) said that India is already progressing successfully towards becoming Atmanirbhar Bharat and will-power plays a great role in the process.

He suggested that cottage industries, small industries and agriculture would also help India to a great extent in becoming self-reliant and we must work towards improving them, which will help to strengthen the economy of our country.

Appreciating India’s efforts to fight the pandemic of corona-virus, he said that initially the masks and the PPE-Kits were being imported, but now are being manufactured locally. He also added that a lot of Indian companies are already into developing the vaccine for the same. He said that under the leadership of our Hon’ble PM, the whole country has to unanimously work towards building an Atmanirbhar Bharat.

Mr. Saket Dalmia, Vice President, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry in his welcome remarks deliberated about how our Hon’ble Prime Minister’s clarion call for “Atmanirbhar Bharat has captured people’s imagination and become a “mantra” for everyone. He spoke about the time India was called ‘Sone ki Chidiya’.  He also spoke about how the world now wants to invest in India. We have to work towards bringing Atmanirbharta in the states, constituencies and communities as well.

Mr. Rakesh Gupta, Chairman-Parliamentary Forum, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry while moderating the technical the session deliberated about the need for vocal about local for making India Self Reliant.
