The three expos are the 8th edition of the Hyderabad International Machine Tool & Engineering Expo (HIMTEX). It will be run concurrently with the India Process Expo & Conference (IPEC) and the Eco Sustain Expo from August 16th to 18th, 2024. These events provide a platform for showcasing the latest innovations and developments in the manufacturing sector, offering opportunities for networking, collaboration, and growth.

The three significant expos—HIMTEX, IPEC, and Eco Sustain Expo—cater to the diverse needs of a manufacturer. MediaTek Kompanio 838: Amplifying productive working, learning and creativity

The octa-core Kompanio 838 packs outstanding performance and multitasking capabilities into a highly efficient SoC that enables all-day battery life for thin and light Chromebooks. This new chipset supports DDR4 and LPDDR4X to meet a wider range of OEM requirements, and doubles memory bandwidth compared to previous generations to provide considerably more data throughput.

To support the latest AI enhancements, Kompanio 838 enables a dedicated AI processor, the MediaTek NPU 650, to offer more interactive and higher quality multimedia with unparalleled power efficiency. MediaTek NPUs are designed for efficient image data processing, capable of quickly executing complex computations.

The SoC is ideal for a variety of 4K displays, including smart TVs, smart monitors, commercial displays, and embedded large displays. Compared to the previous generation chip, MediaTek’s AI processor offers 50% faster AI processing performance and reduces up to 60% bandwidth usage. The powerful NPU supports a variety of MediaTek AI-powered display technologies, including AI-Super Resolution 3.0, AI-Contrast 2.0, AI-Picture Quality Scene Recognition 2.0+, and AI-Picture Quality Object Recognition 2.5+. With a rich history spanning over 125 years, the University of Greenwich has consistently maintained its position as one of the world’s top universities, as recognized by the QS World University Ranking since 2021. Embracing the global trend of digital transformation in higher education, the university has forged strategic partnerships with Sennheiser and AVer, aiming to elevate the hybrid learning experience and bridge the gap between in-person and remote education.

Facing challenges from the global pandemic, the university sought to enhance the remote learning experience. Mark Affection, Head of Digital AV Solutions at the University of Greenwich, led the initiative to create an innovative HyFlex solution. This approach aimed to seamlessly integrate on- campus and remote learning, ensuring inclusivity without compromising the integrity of its UNESCO World Heritage Site campus.

In the initial installation and the following year, the University of Greenwich collaborated with AV consultants and integrators to build the AV solution for the university, granting new possibilities to a variety of courses from scientific to technical, giving presenters even more flexibility and room for creativity, a change noted by remote participants who received a more engaging learning experience, increased attendance, and higher student satisfaction. International students in particular had much better learning experiences than before, many of which were unable to travel to the UK. The AV configuration effectively improved the presentation experience of teaching and learning for both educators and students.

The HyFlex solution incorporated AVer’s Auto Tracking Cameras, chosen for their advanced AI functionality in automatically switching video between speakers and zones. To address audio needs, Sennheiser’s TeamConnect Ceiling 2 (TCC 2) microphone, integrated with AVer cameras, became the optimal choice. The solution is made possible by AVer’s PTZ Link software which offers superior voice capture and voice reinforcement, where the camera and microphone intelligently detect and follow the active speaker.

Deployed in classrooms, lecture theatres, and IT labs across campuses, the AV configuration received positive feedback. International students, unable to travel to the UK, found a more engaging remote learning experience. The university noticed a fundamental shift in the learning environment. “Out of a dreadful situation like COVID-19, positive and intriguing developments have emerged in how people engage with these technologies, which I don’t see us reverting from,” Affection remarked. The HyFlex configuration is becoming the new normal, with demands for cameras, microphones, and dual screens in non-remote rooms.

In order to achieve the university’s target of zero carbon emissions by 2030, Affection observed a reduction in staff travel between campuses thanks to the solution’s ease of use, making online meetings the norm. “The natural audio experience and auto-tracking don’t hinder or stifle conversation,” he notes.

HDFC Bank Ltd. has been voted ‘Most Outstanding Company – Financial Sector’ in India, in a poll conducted by the well-known publication Asiamoney. Over 824 fund managers, buy-side analysts, bankers and research analysts voted across 12 markets in Asia.

More than 4,000 votes were received for publicly listed companies. Asiamoney asks participants in the poll to consider the company’s overall performance including its financials, management team, IR activities and CSR initiatives.

Known as Asia’s Outstanding Companies Poll, it aims to identify and recognise listed companies in 2 categories: by country and by sector. HDFC Bank has bagged this honour for the 2nd consecutive year.

The 12 markets covered were China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.

Innovations for the New Normal – Smart Ideas & Robotic use cases

The world is amazed by Taiwan: The Asian island state has survived the Corona pandemic surprisingly well. The country has only 500 corona cases and seven deaths among 23 million inhabitants. One reason is the intensive use of digital technologies to contain the virus. Numerous Taiwanese companies, including some start-ups, have used the corona pandemic as an incentive and developed innovative products in record time to mitigate the impact of the disease on individuals and society. Taiwan Excellence presented four of these companies and their innovations at its online press conference “Innovations for the New Normal – Smart Ideas & Robotic Use Cases” recently. Here are some examples:

§ Airvida C1 by ible Technology is an air purifier for children between 3 and 10 years old, which weighs 22 grams and is worn like a necklace. It eliminates particles in the air by generating two million negative ions every 0.6 seconds. The negative ions bind the harmful particles and convert them into larger particles that fall to the ground. Airvida C1 removes 99.9% of particulate matter and 90.8% of bacteria from the air you breathe.

§ New Era AI Robotic has developed a series of service robots, including an autonomous vehicle that sprays disinfectant from a tank. The Disinfectant Spraying Robot can cover an area of 300 square meters in 30 minutes, and it also kills germs on handrails or seats. The Smart Ward Robot is an interactive service robot. It was developed especially to relieve the workload of medical staff in hospitals. The Temperature Measuring Robot is equipped with a thermal imaging camera and face recognition. It can detect and identify people with elevated body temperature even in large crowds, such as at airports. The robot moves autonomously and coordinates with other robots to quickly achieve high coverage in new locations.

§ From QNAP Systems comes the KoiBot, an assistant that is capable of speech recognition and automatic translation. At the reception, it takes over the reception and registration of guests by turning its screen in the direction of the person speaking. Because the reception desk is not manned by people, the risk of infection is reduced. If a guest still needs human help, KoiBot sets up a video conference for up to four participants. This is also useful so that health personnel can remotely monitor the progress of patients’ illness without exposing themselves to the risk of infection.

§ Roxie from Carkit AI is a karaoke system for the car. It consists of a special long-range hands-free microphone that allows the driver and passengers to sing together. The software reduces the vocals in songs of any music app. Users can even sing to the latest hits for which there are normally no karaoke versions. Roxie recognizes and reduces vocals from songs in many languages, including English, Chinese, Japanese, Spanish and Indian languages.

AIoT and cybersecurity are two of the Six Core Strategic Industries which are important parts of Taiwan’s industrial development policy. We believe our rapid responsive solutions such as the eMask App are evidence that Taiwan has the capability and potential to provide the best software and hardware products for AI and cybersecurity.” Said BOFT Director Cynthia Kiang.

These Taiwanese ICT companies, three are winners of the Taiwan Excellence Awards, generated a lot of excitement and buzz with the unveiling of their new products at the conference.

“IEI’s Mustang AI Accelerators have a variety of features to help AI development, such as supporting cross-platform, powered by Intel OpenVINO toolkit and compact size and with power efficiency, which is ideal for edge AI applications,” said iEi Director Don Yu.

IEI’s latest FLEX AIoT Dev. Kit is designed with rich I/O and strong expansion capability and supports up to four accelerator cards to provide rock-solid computing performance. “A series of webinars on smart medical products will be held in Taipei, aimed at providing the world a better understanding of Taiwan’s smart medical industry as they fight against the COVID-19 pandemic continues”, the country’s trade representative said Wednesday. Today, worldwide medical-related expenditure has reached US$8.7 trillion, making the continued integration of the two industries all the more essential. The business potential of the healthcare and medical industry in medical IOT applications is worth more than US$158 billion.

Driven by both the pandemic crisis and the accelerating 5G trend, Taiwan’s dynamic medical industry has shown its innovative power in smart medical technologies, surgical and medical devices. “Taiwan leads the way by excelling in telehealth technologies, the use of ECMO, laparoscopic surgery, endoscopic surgery, and robotic surgery,” said Walter Yeh, President and CEO of TAITRA, at an online product launch campaign. The one-hour webinar was part of a series of events held by TAITRA to highlight the country’s strengths in the smart medical industry and to boost economic activities amid the global standstill, according to the trade promotion body.

The product launch included Mediland’s surgical tables and surgical lights, MedicalTek’sMonoStereo endoscopic visualization system, Asiatic Fiber’s PPE textiles and surgical textiles, and suction machines used in operating theatres from Doctor’s Friend Medical Instruments, all of which demonstrated smart medical solutions for hospitals and medical institutions. The event attracted over 1,700 viewers online from countries including Malaysia, India, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Germany. More events focusing on medical products, including beauty products, eye care, assistance devices for the elderly, and dentistry, will be held.
