Steel Secretary launches NMDC Vendor Portal

Hyderabad, 22 May 2024: Steel Secretary Shri Nagendra Nath Sinha launched NMDC’s Vendor Invoice Management and Self Service Portal at the company’s Corporate Office in Hyderabad on Monday.

Foraying ahead on its digital transformation journey, NMDC made the strategic decision to introduce and implement a seamless interface for vendors to engage with the company, streamlining the procurement life cycle while enhancing transparency and business harmony.Shri Nagendra Nath Sinha along with the company’s Senior Management – Shri Amitava Mukherjee, CMD (Additional Charge); Shri Dilip Kumar Mohanty, Director (Production); Shri Vinay Kumar, Director (Technical); and Shri B Vishwanath, CVO were acquainted with the features of the Portal by the concerned NMDC officers and vendors.

The Steel Secretary also reviewed NMDC’s performance and plans in the pipeline for this financial year.

NMDC – Media Update on Kirandul Incident

Chhattisgarh, 28 February 2024: On Tuesday afternoon, a tragic incident was reported at a construction site in the Kirandul Complex of NMDC wherein 4 lives were lost due to the collapse of rock formations on the hillside. An unpredictable collapse of strata from a 70 meter high rock formation landed on the workers on the construction site at Screening Plant III.

Though rescue operations were immediately initiated, the 4 men could not be rescued alive. Two other men who sustained injuries during this incident are being treated at the NMDC Hospital and now out of harm’s way.

In adherence to stringent commitment to safety, NMDC is conducting a thorough investigation into the incident. In the wake of this unfortunate event, the Senior Management of NMDC extended their deepest condolences and support to the bereaved families.

India’s 75th Republic Day at Khanij Bhavan, NMDC

Hyderabad, 26 January 2024: National Miner NMDC celebrated the 75th Republic Day of India at Khanij Bhavan in Hyderabad and its mining projects across India. Shri Amitava Mukherjee, CMD (Additional Charge) hoisted the National Flag along with Shri Zailabuddin, senior most employee at Head Office.

In the run-up to Republic Day 2024, NMDC organized Indoor Games and Competitions to engage employees and stakeholders. Winners of Chess, Table Tennis, Carrom, and certain talent games were also awarded during the ceremony.

NMDC won SCOPE Eminence Award for its CSR Excellence

Hyderabad, 24 January 2024: National Miner NMDC won the prestigious SCOPE Eminence Award for its Corporate Social Responsibility and Responsiveness. The Honourable Vice President of India, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar presented the award to NMDC for its transformational CSR initiatives changing the dynamics of the region where its major projects are located. On behalf of NMDC, Shri M. Jayapal Reddy, ED (Resource Planning & Environment) received the award.

NMDC Committed to India’s Steel Demand

Hyderabad, 19 January 2024: National Miner NMDC is scaling up production of iron ore to meet the demands of a thriving domestic steel market, earning higher sales realizations with zilch export.

One of Government of India’s most respected and dependable companies, NMDC has not proposed to export its ore to China as dishonorably claimed in a story run by Reuters on Tuesday evening.

In recent interactions with business media, the company maintained that India’s appetite for iron ore is on a historic high and NMDC is consumed and committed, catering to the demand from domestic steelmakers. Speaking on the economics of export, the company said that even though iron ore export prices are showing an increasing trend, the net sales realizations in the domestic market are superior.

Spectacular NMDC Exhibition at DPE’s AzadiKaAmritMahotsav Mega Show

The largest iron ore producer of India, NMDC is participating in the Department of Public Enterprises (DPE) Exhibition to celebrate the ongoing AzadiKaAmritMahotsav(AKAM) at Mahatma Mandir Convention and Exhibition Center, Gandhinagar, Gujarat from 9th to 12th June, 2022. Smt Nirmala Sitharaman, Honourable Union Minister of Finance & Corporate Affairs and Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel, Chief Minister of Gujarat inaugurated the exhibition on ‘Nation Building and CPSEs’ where 75 CPSEs including NMDC showcased their achievements towards nation building.

The NMDC pavilion was inaugurated by the company’s Director (Finance) Shri Amitava Mukherjee. The stall was a display of NMDC’s major achievements of 42 million tonnes iron ore production, the company’s transformational digital journey, and investment in building the social capital of its host communities. In the honour of 75 years of independence, NMDC is organizing activities and campaigns to engage people in celebrating AzadikaAmritMahotsavas a Jan-Utsav in the spirit of Jan-Bhagidari.

In the backdrop of the Smart Cities Mission of India@75, NMDC also commissioned a Solid and Liquid Resource Management (SLRM) Center at its BIOM Bacheli Complex today. This initiative to reuse and recycle waste aims to make Bacheli a garbage-free town and harness technology for smart outcomes.

Congratulating team NMDC for its excellent display at the exhibition, Shri Amitava Mukherjee said, “NMDC’s endeavor to build a robust digital infrastructure is in line with the motive of the Finance Ministry’s Iconic Week. NMDC – The Eco-Friendly Miner celebrates World Environment Day 2022

India’s eco-friendly miner, NMDC celebrated the World Environment Day 2022 on the keynote of ‘Only One Earth’ at its Head Office in Hyderabad today. Shri Mukesh Khare, Professor at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi was the Chief Guest for the event with Shri Vineet Pandey, CVO, NMDC as the Guest of Honour. NMDC’s ED (Production and Safety) Shri B. Sahoo, ED (Commercial) Shri A.K. Padhy, CGM (Resource Planning and Environment) Shri M. Jayapal Reddy and senior officials were also present.

A global environment expert and among the top researchers on air pollution concerns in India, Professor Khare praised NMDC’s vision on Sustainable Mining Objectives of the company and said, “The mining major’s decades of commitment towards the environment and the community is building a robust ESG framework. In the future, the miners and engineers should look at an economic, engineering efficient, and ecology conscious approach to mining.”

NMDC has built a sturdy afforestation programme and has planted over 3.0 million trees in and around its projects. Reiterating NMDC’s resolve towards reforestation, Shri Vineet Pandey said, “We mine in ecologically sensitive areas and it is our duty to restore the mines back to their natural state. The theme ‘Only One Earth’ has been relevant for 50 years and will continue to find relevance in our future.”

NMDC’s mining complexes have earned a 5 Star Rating from the Indian Bureau of Mines for their responsible mine and resource planning. Contributing to the Government of India’s push towards Green initiatives, the company has invested in renewable power generation, practices zero-waste mining, and is laying a 15 MTPA slurry pipeline for environment-friendly ore transport.

Wishing his employees a happy Environment Day, NMDC CMD Shri Sumit Deb said, “The phrase ‘Eco-Friendly Mining’ is typically an oxymoron but we have been able to transcend this with environment conservation at the core of our business. With being the largest iron ore producer of India, NMDC plays a pivotal role in embracing and advocating eco-friendly mining.”

On the occasion of World Environment Day 2022, Shri B. Sahoo led the employees to take an oath to contribute to environment conservation and healing. NMDC employees received Jute Bags, Clay Bottles, Biodegradable Pens, and plants. The Environment Department of NMDC also conducted essay writing and elocution competitions on May 23, 2022 and the winners were felicitated today.

NMDC records continuous growth in Production

Continuing on the growth trajectory, mining major NMDC produced 3.2 Million Tonnes (MnT) and sold 2.65 MnT in the second month of FY23.

Iron ore production in May 2022 was 14.3% higher than the 2.8 MnT produced in May 2021. NMDC’s cumulative production upto May 2022 stood at 6.35 MnT, a 7.4% growth from the cumulative production of 5.91 MnT upto May 2021. The largest iron ore producer of India sold 5.77 MnT in FY23, upto May 2022 this fiscal.

Congratulating his team on this performance, Shri Sumit Deb, CMD, NMDC said, “Our consistent growth in production has not only made NMDC the fastest growing iron ore mining company in India but also the most consistent supplier to domestic steel sector. We have strengthened our core by welcoming a fleet of new age technology and digital interventions to our business.”

NMDC celebrates Rashtriya Ekta Diwas with ‘Run for Unity’

Hyderabad: India’s largest producer of iron ore, NMDC organised ‘Run for Unity’ at its Head Office and all Projects to celebrate Rashtriya Ekta Diwas 2021 and Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. Commemorating the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, NMDC conducted the run at Sports Coaching Foundation, near Chacha Nehru Park in Hyderabad today.

Shri Sumit Deb, CMD, NMDC administered the ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Pledge’ to the NMDC employees and flagged off the ‘Run for Unity’. Shri Somnath Nandi, Director (Technical), Shri Dilip Kumar Mohanty, Director (Production), Shri K. Praveen Kumar, CGM (Personnel & Law) and senior officials of NMDC have participated in the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas. NMDCians along with students from various schools participated in the run and paid their
tribute to the Iron Man of India. NMDC is conducting various sports, academic and cultural events to celebrate India@75.

On this occasion, Shri Sumit Deb encouraged the employees to follow Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s commitment towards integrity and iron resolve to build a united India. He said, “As India celebrates Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, it is our responsibility to build the India envisioned by our national leaders. In this journey towards Atmanirbhar Bharat, NMDC is playing a pivotal role in meeting the infrastructure needs of the country.”

NMDC declares Interim dividend @ 776% for the year 2020-21

NMDC’s Board decided to give interim dividend @ 776% for the year 2020-21 at its Meeting held on 11.03.2021. The interim dividend outgo would be Rs.2,274 crore, of which Rs1,553 crore would be the Government of India share.

NMDC being one of the top performing PSEs of Government of India, has been giving rich dividends to Government and its shareholders since 1991.

During the last 10 years NMDC has paid about Rs.23,288 crore as dividend to its shareholders of which Government of India share is about Rs18,536 crore. In addition to dividend, NMDC has also gone for buyback of shares in FY-21, amounting to Rs.1,378 crore of which Government of India received Rs.1,377 crores.
