Odisha Travel Bazaar (OTB) 2022 opens with glare

Bhubaneswar, 29th Oct 2022: Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik today said that our bouquet of tourism products will match global standards. Odisha has identified 75 priority tourism destinations comprises of beaches, Bio-diversity zone, monuments, places of religious and cultural importance to develop and introduce niche tourism experience. To provide enriching tourism experience, we focus on increasing investment and enterprising of niche segments like house boat tourism, camping, heritage palace staying, water-based tourism.

He inaugurates the fourth edition of Odisha Travel Bazaar 2022 at a glaring event organized by the Department of Tourism, Govt. of Odisha and the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) at Bhubaneswar. On this occasion, he said that Odisha focuses on master planning-based development. It will become helpful for the state not only to attract fine brands but also the business travelers and people looking for excellent hospitality experience across the globe.

Talking to tour operators came from across the globe he opined that, Odisha is now most happening phases of India. We need your active contribution to market our beautiful state.

Speaking at the occasion Shri J K Mohanty, Co-Chairman, FICCI Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Committee and CMD, Swosti Hotels, Said, “We see many states those having either Beaches, Palaces, Backwater, desert to woo the tourists inflow to their respective state. But Odisha is the only state in India, which has all these and many more to offer. To compete with neighboring states, we are adding large inventory of hotel rooms at various tourist destinations. As far as international tourists are concerned we expect international flights to resume to increase international tourists inflows.”

Shri Surendra Kumar, Principal Secretary, Department of Tourism, Govt. of Odisha said, “Odisha as a state has many things to offer for all tourists. We are probably the only state in the country that increases its forest cover in last two decades. We have places and sites in the state those are unheard of and unparallel.”

The event will focus on B2B meeting between Tourism Fraternity of Odisha (Sellers) with Domestic Tour Operators (DTOs) and Foreign Tour Operators (FTOs) followed by various FAM tours to the destinations of the state like Bhubaneswar, Konark, Puri, Chilika, Dhauli, Bhitarkanika and Lalitgiri. B2G meeting with investors and Airlines also planned. Sellers are also participated and exhibit their products in the exhibition.

About 25 Foreign Tour Operators from countries like Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal, Singapore, Tanzania, Thailand, Vietnam and 83 buyers from cities like Aurangabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chandrapur, Chennai, Dehradun, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kochi, Kolkata, Ludhiana, Mangalgiri, Mumbai, Nagpur, Nasik, New Delhi and NCR, Panjim, Pune, Raipur, Rohtak, Siliguri, Surendra Nagar, Trivandrum, Varanasi and Visakhapatnam participated in the event.

Odisha’s 108 helpline gets national recognition for pre-hospital care

Bhubaneswar: The popular 108 ambulance service of Odisha was highly appreciated and recognised at a prestigious national level platform for its remarkable service delivery. The emergency service managed by the Ziqitza Healthcare Limited (ZHL) on behalf of the Odisha Health Department and the National Health Mission (NHM) works to ensure the last mile connectivity of patients to cater to the medical needs of people from the state including reaching out the hinterlands, hard to access and cut off areas of the state.

It received the coveted ET Leadership Excellence Awards 2022 in an award ceremony held at Roseate House in New Delhi on 22nd August 2022. It bagged the award for its relentless work on emergency medical service under the ‘Pre-Hospital care’ category. In a glittering function held in New Delhi, Actress Ms. Esha Gupta presented this award to Mr. Sabyasachi Biswal, State Head-ZHL, Odisha.

It was feted for providing a swift and timely service in an emergency situation by transporting patients to the nearest hospital, which has saved countless lives in the state. Speaking about the award, Mr. Sabyasachi Biswal, State Head-ZHL, Odisha said, “ET Leadership Excellence Awards 2022 is a fitting acknowledgment of the commendable efforts of Ziqitza Healthcare who has been the force behind 108 Ambulance in Odisha that has served more than 70 lakh citizens. It is a recognition of their hard work and dedication. For the last nine years, we have been operating 108 ambulance services in the state. We have built our service as a model for the rest of the nation. This award will further encourage us to do more. It will surely motivate our team to continue good work.”

The 108 ambulance service was started on 5th March 2013 with a modest fleet of 280 ambulances which expanded in last 9 years to cover the entire state and at present operates a fleet of 1,124 ambulances and 6 boat ambulances. ZHL not only worked towards ferrying patients in distress to save human lives by reducing the treatment time but also helped in guiding patients and their families to the nearby medical facilities, training on giving first aid and CPR to revive critical patients creating awareness on health issues.

Commenting further on the achievement, Mr. Sabyasachi Biswal, State Head-ZHL, Odisha said, “At Ziqitza the long-term focus had been in meeting international standards of quality care in Emergency Medical Services and accessibility to all people regardless of their income has been a huge part of achieving this award. We can say with pride today Dial 108 has carved a niche for providing pre-hospital care saving life to serve people in the State with the active support of NHM and Government.”

Ziqitza Healthcare Limited (ZHL), is the operating agency for 108 and 102 ambulance services in Odisha. Ziqitza ensures that 108 ambulances are strategically located in the operational districts in such a way that the entire district can be covered within minimum time. The entire service right from a person making a call to the necessary pre-hospital care in the ambulance and taking the victim to the nearest hospital is absolutely free to every citizen in Odisha.

Odisha declared as Top Performer in State Start-up Ranking 2021 by DPIIT

New Delhi: Odisha has been declared as Top Performer in State Start-up Ranking 2021 by Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) released by Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce and Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and Textiles on 4th July 2022 in a felicitation ceremony in New Delhi. Dr Omkar Rai, Executive Chairman of Startup Odisha received the award.

Commenting upon the occasion, Dr Omkar Rai, Executive Chairman of Startup Odisha said “It is an honor to be declared as the top performers in state start-up ranking 2021 by DPIIT. I would like to extend my humble gratitude to DPIIT for this recognition. Since its inception, Start-up Odisha has been a home to the best entrepreneurial minds & has already supported and facilitated more than 1300 start-ups. The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) conducted the 3rd edition of the States’ Start-up Ranking Exercise with the key objective to strengthen the support of States and UTs to holistically build their startup ecosystems. Startup Ranking Framework 2021 has been developed as a more robust and outcome-oriented exercise and aims to achieve large scale progress across each State and UT. In order to encourage states and union territories to work toward reducing regulations for the expansion of start-ups and strengthening support for the start-up ecosystem, the exercise was launched in 2018. Odisha was awarded the “Leader State” on support to Startup Ecosystem released by Shri Piyush Goyal in 2019.

Odisha has come a long way from being a food deficient state to a surplus state, strengthening livelihoods and food security with a focus on marginalized communities and women. Recently, MSME Department of Odisha was awarded the first rank by Government of India for its exemplary efforts to streamline the MSMEs in the economic scenario. News18 Odia hosts Education Eminence 2022, honours remarkable contributions of some of Odisha’s educational institutes

The award function is part of the channel’s endeavour to acknowledge and reward educational institutions in Odisha who have laid the foundation for building a bright future for present and future generations. This year’s ceremony recognized a total of 17 educational institutions from around the state.

The program had Premananda Nayak – the Minister of Skill Development and Technical Education as its honourable chief guest and was inaugurated by Sulochana Das – Mayor of BMC. Furthermore, the award ceremony also featured a two-panel discussion that shed light on pressing topics affecting the state’s education sector. Odia Samaj Tripura celebrates Utkal Divas 2022

It is a celebration of Utkal Divas on April 1 in Tripura. All the Odia working people in Tripura state gather to celebrate Utkal Divas 2022.  Members of Odisha Samaj joined the celebration along with their family members.

At first, Shri Pradeep Prajbalana worshiped Lord Jagannath and greeted people and children. Women and children participated in the event with pride and joy. They sang the Odisha state anthem – Bande Utkal Janani and the children performed the Odissi dance and enthralled the audience. In the august presence of Shri Vishnu Charan Pati, President, Odia Society; the meeting started and members expressed their views on the importance of the day and highlighted the achievements of Odisha state.

~ Inaugurates a week-long Science Festival ‘Vigyan Sarvatra Pujyate’~

24th February 2022, Bhubaneswar, As a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebration, a science exhibition, ‘Amrit Mahotsav Science Showcase: Roadmap to 2047’ was inaugurated at KiiT International School on 22nd February 2022. The weeklong exhibition is being organized by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in collaboration with Integrated Test Range (ITR), NIF, IMMT, STD (Govt. of Odisha), ORSAC, Odisha Bigyan Academy, IMA and KIIT-TBI. It was inaugurated in the presence of Mr. M. K. Mishra, Secretary, E&IT and Science & Technology, Govt. of Odisha; Dr. P. K. Mallick, Addl. PCCF & Chief Executive, ORSAC; Mr. K. Srinivasan, Regional Officer, CBSE, Bhubaneswar; and Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS, Dr. Mona Lisa Bal, Chairperson, KiiT International School and Dr. Sanjay Suar, Principal, KiiT International School.

Models of various missiles – Agni, Akash, Prithvi, Brahmos, Astra, Nag, etc. – and armament systems (MBT Arjun Tank, Artillery Gun) are on display at the exhibition. The students and teachers from different schools in Bhubaneswar participated and interacted with about 20 grass-root scientists who have been felicitated by the National Innovation Foundation for their uniqueness. About 1200 delegates have registered for the event.

The festival is being celebrated at 75 locations across the country, with the main programme in Delhi. Science and technology organisations of the country are committed to ensure that the benefits of science and technology, and innovations reach the masses and help the society in circumventing various problems.

This is the age of science, knowledge and exposure, said Dr. Samanta at the inaugural ceremony. In the early days students only were dependent on books for knowledge, but now due to advancement in science all are getting exposure, he stated. We are progressing with the help of science and technology, which has also been enabling us to fight against the Covid-19 pandemic worldwide in the last two years, he added.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Mishra said, “Science is the understanding of different things. Technology is the way to take science forward. Science should be for common people. Nowadays technology has become our way of life. Everybody experienced the importance of technology during the pandemic”.

Mr. P. K. Mallick said, we need science to grow, live, and develop. Science and technology are two hands of humans. Conceptualizing something is science, while making it reality is technology, he explained. Students should develop scientific temper and learn to practice it, he stated, adding that Azadi can be protected by nurture and practice science. Mr. Srinivasan said, “We need to understand the happenings around us and apply our knowledge to improve. We should use science and technology for better living and for society”.

It was the first meeting of 2022 to be held on February 11 at the Hotel Management Institute (IHM), Bhubaneswar, after all the programs for the Covid-19 epidemic had been going online for the past few years. The meeting focused on the vacancies in various institutions for years and the submission of applications for the post of Odisha Adarsh Vidyalaya, the future course of action of the academy and so on. Institute of Hotel Management (IHM), Bhubaneswar Receives Four Star Category Certificates by Eight Right Campus (FSSI)

The Surendra Sai Nagar-based Institute of Hotel Management (IHM), under the Government of India and established by the Ministry of Tourism, is the first educational institution in the state to receive a fourth-class classification by the Bhubaneswar eat Right Campus (FSSI). It has made a name for itself in the state and the country as a campus.

The Eight Right Campus is a food safety and nutrition standard that defines the quality of food delivery in educational institutions, hospitals, and other categories. The function was attended by Mrs. Yamini Sdhangi (IAS) Food Safety Commissioner, Dr. PK Mahapatra (Director, Food Safety), Satyajit Patel (Municipal Corporation Food Safety Officer) and Pratiksha Das Mahapatra as guests. National, 24th December 2021: The pandemic affected the lives of all. During these difficult times leading business groups, manufacturing facilities, industries and corporates in Odisha, came forward to integrate social and environmental concerns, by raising their CSR activities and successfully reaching out to help the people of the state, thus instrumental in providing the required support to the state government. The various CSR activities built around assisting the health & wellness, education, sanitation sector, by the small and big corporates in Odisha, helped the state to stand tall ahead of many others in CSR activities, especially during COVID times. To commemorate their commendable work News18 Odia, held a CSR Conclave bringing together experts and professionals from various corporate houses to share and showcase their different and successful CSR initiatives taken in the state. The CSR conclave, held on 17th December in the state capital of Bhubaneswar, will be shown on the channel in a special telecast on 25th December at 9.30 p.m.

The conclave hosted a plenary session wherein the panellists — Mr. Tapan Kumar Chand — President – Vedant, Odisha-Chhatisgarh and Former CMD, NALCO; Mr. Santosh Mohapatra — Ex CEO, Dhamara Port Trust, Mr. Ashok Behera —Vice President, Banshidhar Panda and Ila Panda Foundation, Mr. Ambika Prasad Nanda — CSR Head-Odisha, TATA Steel and Mr. Rajeev Sahoo, Senior Charted Accountant, discussed the topic – CSR: Implementation and Challenges. CSR is not only a social obligation but now a legal responsibility and in comparison, to the past, Corporates and Industrial bodies are now more aware and sincere towards their social responsibilities, said Mr. Asit Tripathy. Adding to this, Mr. Ashok Chandra Panda opined that the arena of CSR is widespread, and all must work with positivity so that the objectives are achieved. He was all praise for the role played by corporates during the Pandemic.
