How Delhi searched for homes in 2024

New Delhi, December 26, 2024: Magicbricks’ latest report reveals intriguing trends in how Delhi residents searched for homes in 2024, highlighting preferences influenced by location, amenities, and property types.

A substantial 37% of searches were for homes near commercial areas, followed by 34% near industrial zones and 28% near office hubs. Ready-to-move apartments dominated interest, with 79.43% of searches favouring this option, while 59% of homes sought were newly built, and 41% were resale properties.

Amenities like family-friendly spaces (17.3%) and fitness-friendly facilities (6.6%) outshined interest in smart homes (4.8%). At least 17.6% people in Delhi searched for 4bhk+ rooms, and 82% people searched for homes up to 4 floors only.

Rental preferences leaned towards convenience, with 41% of searches for fully furnished homes and 34.8% for semi-furnished options. Parking remains a key consideration, with 60% preferring homes with one parking space, and 20% favouring properties with more than three.

These insights underscore the diverse priorities of Delhi home seekers in 2024, reflecting both practical and aspirational living choices.

Celebrated Musician Lokesh Anand Receives Ustad Bismillah Khan Award

New Delhi: A memorial concert titled “Yade-Bismillah” was held on the 17th death anniversary of the legendary Shehnai maestro Bharat Ratna Ustad Bismillah Khan. This concert was organised at Sanskaar Bharti auditorium in Mandi House, New Delhi by Sanskaar Bharti and India Heritage Art and Culture Trust. This event featured magnificent performances by Padma Shri Dr. Shoma Ghosh and santoor maestro Dr. Bipul Ray. The prime attraction of the evening was the conferral of the prestigious Bharat Ratna Ustad Bismillah Khan Award upon renowned Shehnai artist Lokesh Anand. Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale graced this occasion by presenting the award to Anand in recognition of his outstanding contribution to music, especially his mastery of the Shehnai.

The event was attended by many respectable and prominent guests, including former Home Minister of Maharashtra Kripa Shankar, former MP from Mathura Dr. Raja Manvendra Singh, India Heritage Art and Culture Trust founder Shool Pani Singh, National Commission for Women Chairperson Rekha Sharma, and Prasar Bharati Board Chairman Navneet Kumar Sehgal.

Anand’s musical journey began at the age of 8 under the guidance of his father, Shri Kalicharan, and later, Pandit Anand Lal and Daya Shankar. His association with Sangeet Martand Pandit Jasraj polished his skills, allowing him to develop a unique style that blends traditional and vocal nuances. Throughout his marvellous career, Lokesh Anand has attracted global audiences by performing at various esteemed events such as the Akashwani Sangeet Sammelan, Tansen Music Festival, Hariballah Music Festival, Saptak Music Festival, and Sankat Mochan Music Festival. Moreover, he has also represented India on international platforms, including the G20 Summit in New Delhi and the “Zurnazen Festival” in Turkey, where he was the first Indian artist to represent Shehnai. Apart from this, Anand performed at the Ram Lala Pran Pratishtha Samaroh in Ayodhya and received a nomination for the “GIMA” Award for his track “Swan-Lake Op20 Lokesh Anand”. His all of these achievements have helped him in solidifying his position as a leading Shehnai artist around the world.

The “Yade-Bismillah” tribute concert was a very appropriate celebration of Ustad Bismillah Khan’s legacy, and Lokesh Anand’s award is a well-deserved recognition of his endeavour to preserve and promote India’s rich musical heritage. To promote Indian musical heritage Anand is committed to spread the art of Shehnai globally, that’s why he is set to tour internationally, with concerts scheduled in Turkey and the USA in September and October 2024.

Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department Hosts ‘Bodhi Yatra’ Conclave to Celebrate Lord Buddha’s Journey

New Delhi, 29th June, 2024: Bringing spirituality and rich heritage of Uttar Pradesh together, the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department organized the ‘Bodhi Yatra’ conclave in New Delhi today to commemorate the extraordinary journey of Lord Buddha. The event highlighted Uttar Pradesh’s significance as a Buddhist pilgrimage and the tourism potential of the state.

The conclave witnessed the presence of key officials, including the Minister of Tourism, Government of India, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat,Minister of Tourism and Culture, Uttar Pradesh, Jaiveer Singh, Secretary, Ministry Of Tourism, V. Vidyavati, Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh, Durga Shankar Mishra, Principal Secretary of Tourism and Culture, Mukesh Kumar Meshram, Special Secretary of Tourism, Eesha Priya, Director General of IBC, Abhijit Haldar and Former Deputy Speaker of CTA, Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok Ambassador of Singapore, H.E. It was followed by a welcome speech from the Principal Secretary, Department Of Tourism and Culture. He said, “Uttar Pradesh has emerged as a popular tourist destination attaining number one spot in domestic tourism and we are hopeful of attracting a higher number of inbound foreign tourists as well in near future.”

Highlighting the objective of the event he said, “We wanted to reveal the spiritual and cultural connection with different countries in South Asia and Southeast Asia and improve cultural diplomacy with the support of the Ministry Of External affairs and promote Foreign Direct Investment in the state. We have already allotted 02 acres of land in Varanasi to Bhutan Govt. for the construction of temples and guest houses. Through this platform we also offer all the other countries to invest in the hospitality and tourism sector of all these six sites and we assure you that we will provide all the mutual cooperation needed.”

A round table discussion and brainstorming session was held to explore various initiatives and strategies to promote these historical and spiritual sites, particularly focusing on attracting foreign tourists. In his address, the Union Minister of Tourism and Culture thanked the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department for organizing the Bodhi Yatra. He said, “India is not the land of war, but the land of Buddha’. This holy land gave the message of truth, non-violence, kindness and compassion to the entire world. and Uttar Pradesh is a prominent part in this legacy. The Prime Minister had envisioned creating various tourist circuits in the country. The first circuit in that is the Buddha Circuit. I want to congratulate Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Tourism Minister Jaiveer Singh that the Uttar Pradesh government did important work to bring the Prime Minister’s vision to reality.”

Speaking at the event, Secretary, Ministry Of Tourism said that, “Buddha resides in the heart and soul of Uttar Pradesh. Govt of India in collaboration with the Govt. of Uttar Pradesh aims to not only create a memorable experience for the buddhist pilgrims but also ensure the development and better employment opportunities for the local communities. We are also keen to enhance the infrastructure and amenities of Buddhist Museums in the state as they are a living source of history.”

Minister of Tourism and Culture, Uttar Pradesh said, ‘Uttar Pradesh is the fourth largest state in terms of area. It is the largest state with a population of 25 crores and is equal to the fifth country in the world in terms of population. Fortunately, all the places from the birth of Lord Buddha to his education, attainment of knowledge, preaching and religious awakening campaigns and Mahaparinirvana (death) are located here. Under the guidance of our Chief Minister, we are developing the Buddhist circuit propagating the strong historical, cultural and spiritual ties of Buddhism with Uttar Pradesh on the world map and attracting Buddhist pilgrims from India and abroad in large numbers.”

Chief Secretary, Government Of Uttar Pradesh said, “Uttar Pradesh is cradle of Buddhism and this Bodhi Yatra is an initiative to make you experience the serenity and divinity of Lord Buddha. The significant events of Buddhism took place in UP and this event aims to promote these Buddhist sites on the global map. Working under the vision of our Prime Minister and through constant efforts of the State government and the Tourism Department, we have developed infrastructure and world class tourist facilities at these sites emerging as the top tourist destinations in the country Through our investor-friendly tourism policy, the stake holders can become a significant part of this transforming journey of Uttar Pradesh in the tourism sector.”

Attendees were treated to a cultural show depicting the life of Lord Buddha, from his birth to his enlightenment and passing. The performance celebrated the foundation of Buddhism and its rich historical, cultural and spiritual heritage of Uttar Pradesh. New App “Speak Kumaoni” Launches to Promote Regional Language

New Delhi, 27 June 2024- A new website and app, “Speak Kumaoni,” designed to teach the Kumaoni dialect, was officially launched. The platform offers an easy way to learn the reading and pronunciation of the Kumaoni language, available in ten Indian languages including Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Marathi, Bengali, Urdu, Punjabi, Gujarati, Hindi, and English.

The development of ‘Speak Kumaoni’ is credited to Dr. R. K. Thukral, a Punjabi native of Rudrapur with a PhD in Economics from Kumaon University, Nainital. Dr. Thukral, who is the founder-director of a 24-year-old ITeS company in Delhi, also resides in the village of Managher-Sundarkhal in Nainital District. Notably, the website and app are offered completely free of charge.

The content for the platform is derived from the book “Kumaoni Pahari Boli” by Haldwani-based educationist, musician, and Kumaoni folk expert Hema Harbola. Radio Journalist Sunita Bhaskar of ‘Hello Haldwani’ at Uttarakhand Open University provided the Kumaoni voiceovers, while AI technology generated the audio for the other ten languages. The project received special support from various individuals and institutions in the Kumaon division.

Last week, Dr. Thukral presented the app to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at Uttarakhand Sadan in New Delhi. Chief Minister Dhami commended Dr. Thukral’s initiative, emphasizing the significance of offering the app for free. He expressed optimism that the app would benefit tourists, travelers, and the Kumaoni youth living in other states, and strengthen the promotion and propagation of the Kumaoni language.

He further said that the sale of Khadi yoga clothes and mats on the special occasion of International Yoga Day is a symbol of the fact that the Government of India under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is determined to conserve its heritage Khadi as well as determined to protect environmental. This also gives new strength to the Vocal for Local and Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan.

According to the released data, this time KVIC prepared special Khadi yoga kurtas (in T-shirt style) on demand of the Ministry of AYUSH. These were specially designed keeping the youth in mind. On the occasion of Yoga Day, KVIC’s Khadi Bhawan located at Connaught Place, Delhi supplied 50,000 yoga mats and 50,000 yoga dress to the Ministry of AYUSH alone. This also included 300 premium quality yoga mats. Along with this, as per the demand of the Ministry, 25,000 Khadi yoga mats and clothes were supplied in Srinagar and 10,000 mats and yoga clothes were supplied in Srinagar. In Srinagar, thousands of people participated in yoga practice wearing Khadi clothes under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

In addition to Ministry of AYUSH, KVIC also supplied yoga clothes and yoga mats made of Khadi for yoga practice mainly to Morarji Desai National Yoga Institute, National Ayurveda Institute Jaipur and Panchkula, Defence Research and Development Organization, ONGC and NALCO. In the total supply of Rs 8,67,87,380, the sale of Khadi yoga clothes was Rs 3,86,65,900 and the sale of mats was Rs 4,81,21,480. As per the demand, KVIC had already informed Khadi institutions across the country, which included 55 institutions in Gujarat, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and Delhi, for supply. Through this, spinners, weavers and Khadi workers working in Khadi institutions got additional wages as well as additional employment opportunities.
