Gurmeet Choudhary celebrates Independance Day with the students from the National Association for the Blind

Gurmeet Choudhary is today hailed as a hero, as a saviour and most importantly as a friend of the people. He has worked relentlessly and tirelessly over the past few months with a plethora of relief effort programmes to combat COVID 19 and its repercussions on society. Not only he has been a star off screen but also his on screen magic has wowed the audience in his super hit music videos like Maaza, Bedardi Se Pyaar Ka and much recent Barasat Ki Dhun.

So when the young actor got an invite from the National Association for the Blind known as NAB-India, to be honoured as a special guest for their patriotic musical show, “Zara Yaad Karo Qurbani,” he knew that he had to take time out and be there for such a noble event.

The programme that was telecast on YouTube, Facebook and Instagram took place on the eve of India’s Independance Day, Aug 14 at Blue Sea Banquet Hall in Worli, Mumbai.

The pandemic had made it virtually impossible for NAB-India to raise funds and sustain their ongoing CSR effort projects for the visually impaired. The idea behind the musical show was to raise funds for the young students of NAB-India. The funds raised are going to help with the education of these students.

Gurmeet arrived and spent quality time with all the students and was amazed at the talent displayed in the show. Speaking on the same, he affirmed that, “I am delighted to be able to come here and meet these amazing and inspiring young students of NAB-India. When they invited me as their special guest, I knew I had to make it here and also pledge to help them in their educational pursuits. Covid 19 May have put a pause on the world but when you meet them, you can determine that it has not put a pause on their desire to study, to learn and to thrive. Today, they are an inspiration for the entire country and the best way to meet them was on the occasion of Independence Day.”

The national association for the blind also known as NAB-India has been working for the upliftment and welfare of the visually impaired persons in the society since 1952 in the field of education, rehabilitation, employment, advocacy and prevention of blindness through its various departments and 24 state branches.

Bhushan Kumar and Jubin Nautiyal have consistently given audiences record-breaking love songs that are fondly remembered. They now collaborate on another romantic track ‘Barsaat Ki Dhun’ also starring heartthrob Gurmeet Choudhary and the gorgeous Karishma Sharma. Penned by Rashmi Virag, with music by Rochak Kohli, the single ushers in the romantic season of the monsoon with its nostalgic visuals as well as its soul-stirring melody.

Over the years, we have seen many love stories unfold on-screen that left a mark in everyone’s hearts. In ‘Barsaat Ki Dhun’ directed by Ashish Panda, Gurmeet Choudhary and Karishma Sharma recreate some iconic love story poses that pay tribute to classic romantic films like Romeo & Juliet, Awaara, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, The Notebook, Aashiqui 2.

Talking about the song says Jubin Nautiyal, “Barsaat Ki Dhun is the kind of track you can listen to while you enjoy your cup of coffee or driving in the car. Everything from its lyrics, melody, to the music video is guaranteed to make you nostalgic and leave you with a sense of warmth and love.”

Adds Gurmeet Choudhary, “This is my second collaboration with Jubin after ‘Bedardi Se Pyaar Ka’ and I thoroughly enjoyed shooting the music video, which beautifully captures the essence of the monsoon season. I hope audiences enjoy ‘Barsaat Ki Dhun’ as much as they did our first track.”

Says Karishma Sharma, “The sets of ‘Barsaat Ki Dhun’ had such a classic, old-world charm. You can never go wrong with Jubin Nautiyal’s voice and Bhushan sir’s music sensibility. Gurmeet and I worked hard to do justice to this beautiful song. I’m confident audiences will love it.”

Gurmeet Choudhary organises oxygen concentrators from Indonesia to reach India and launches the Gurmeet Choudhary Foundation

Gurmeet Choudhary has had sleepless nights, travelled to places far and wide to help activate the COVID-19 relief efforts and ensure that hospitals are opened and running in remote parts of the nation, he has worked relentlessly and effortlessly against a virus that has taken over the world and most recently, our country in since 2020. The actor not only has been helping in fighting against this deadly virus but also has been preparing to strengthen the future of the health care system of the nation.

Gurmeet has successfully now arranged for oxygen concentrators with the help of India Club Jakarta (Indonesia) and in association with Medscape India , a fellow organisation working for providing relief for COVID-19 (Radiologist, Founder Chairperson Dr Sunita Dube) and Gurmeet Choudhary Foundation. The oxygen concentrators have now reached India and will surely go a long way in the COVID-19 campaign. It will be provided to rural areas which are currently facing a difficult time.

With the help of India Club Jakarta, a nonprofit organization, functioning as Perkumpulan (Association) in Jakarta-Indonesia, Gurmeet and his team has managed to get the oxygen concentrators for the nation.

The India Club Jakarta works in close Cooperation with Indian Embassy in Jakarta and also acts as a bridge for India-Indonesia people and has been working relentlessly towards community welfare. The India Club along with Medscape India have played an important role in getting the oxygen concentrators in India from Indonesia.

Pushing his already full envelope further, the Bollywood actor has also launched the Gurmeet Choudhary Foundation, an association that aims to help people. Right from stabilising the health care system and working towards its future, launching hospitals in tier 2 cities and beyond, to reaching out to all the possible nations for help, Gurmeet has been going an extra mile in helping his nation in this fight against virus.

However, what he really is, is a human being trying to do good for all Indian citizens, in order to fight the mammoth COVID 19 2nd outbreak that the country is faced with and at the same time gearing up for future health care system.

From arranging ICU beds with Ventilators, to getting Oxygen aid for those in critical conditions to procuring Remedesvir and saving lives, including that of a pregnant lady amongst many others, Gurmeet and his team have worked effortlessly, tirelessly and relentlessly over the last few weeks.

Talking about his efforts to take care of the health care system of the nation, Gurmeet has launched the #TheGrand HospitalProject which will have primary centers & small hospitals across various districts. The state of the art hospitals will be well equipped with the latest Al technology for disease detection & treatment, all under guidance of super specialists from the main hospitals. The noble initiative takes shape with the premier hospital in Lucknow and Patna, followed by all other states as well.

Speaking on this huge feat and endeavor, Gurmeet says that, ‘The Grand Hospital project is my dream project which I have visioned and I am working towards it each day. Ever since we got hit by COVID I realised that our health care system needs to become stronger, so the idea is to make India ready for the future. Today COVID has hit, tomorrow there will be many more dreadful diseases which will require us to fight against them. We are starting from Lucknow and Patna as main centers of this project as they are the epicenter of the nation and they connect to all the other states. Once those are formed we will replicate the same in other states too. All the hospitals will be equipped with AI technology and will be under the guidance of specialists.’
