Human Flag, a unique way to celebrate the 78th Independence Day

Hyderabad, August 14, 2024….Lodge Keys No 297, a primary unit of 3000 years old global organisation, Freemasonry organised a unique celebration of 78th Century Independence Day

To mark the occasion, celebrate the same and inspire fellow citizens they embarked on a unique initiative called ‘Human Flag’

Its members with families numbering about 40 formed a Human Flag with the men dressed in saffron, ladies green, children and others dressed in white kurtas and made a huge human flag.

All members gathered at Goshamahal Baradari Masonic Building on Wednesday morning and formed a Human Flag and the same was captured.

We have embarked on this initiative to celebrate this Independence Day uniquely said Radhey Shyam Tiwari, the President (Worshipful Master) of Lodge Keys.

The members who participated include Radhey Shayn Tiwari, Kalpana Tiwari, Shlok Tiwari, Proddaturu Veerabhadrudu, Proddaturu Sunitha, Madhusudhan Bojja, Anitha, D. Ramchandram, Kalpana, Y. 75th Independence Day Celebrated with a noble cause of tree plantation at IIHMR University, Jaipur

Jaipur: IIHMR University, Jaipur celebrated the 75th Independence Day of India on 15th August 2021 in the premises of the University.

The celebration commenced with the unfurling of the National Flag by the honourable chairperson of IIHMR University, Dr. S.D Gupta and the President of the University, Dr. P.R Sodani; followed by the playing of the National Anthem. The celebration was attended by the faculty and staff members under strict COVID-19 protocols and guidelines as per the Government of India.

Thereafter, Dr. Gupta addressed the gathering and recalled the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters and expressed the university’s commitment to work towards realizing the dreams of our founding fathers and the objectives set out by the government and leadership at IIHMR University. He also talked about the present high stature of India in its 75th year of Independence with the milestones it has achieved and challenges it overcome during the current crisis of the pandemic.

Later, Dr. Sodani wished the IIHMR family a very Happy Independence Day and expressed his deepest gratitude towards Dr. Gupta for his presence and his address to the gathering. He also talked about the role of IIHMR University in building ‘New India’ as envisaged by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi ji and how the University has been on the forefront with its expertise in healthcare systems and management in managing the current pandemic crisis, especially in Rajasthan, and in taking ahead the agenda of adequately managing the pandemic crisis in the state by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Shri Ashok Gehlot. He also admitted that although he missed the presence of students at the ceremony, but is glad to be able to reach out to them through the virtual means.

Later, the event went ahead with the cultural program set up by IIHMR students and Independence Day Poster Presentation by students through a virtual means to celebrate the spirit of Indian Independence through unity in diversity.

This was followed by the Tree Plantation drive in campus on the occasion of Independence Day, as a part of the Tree Plantation Week celebrated at IIHMR University from August 10-17, 2021. During tree plantation drive; Chairperson and President of the University along with faculty and staff members planted saplings in the IIHMR premises.

The Independence Day celebration and tree plantation was concluded through a thanksgiving speech.

With the help of official social media handles, University reached out to the extended IIHMR family to celebrate 75th Independence Day of India in a virtual manner through a live telecast of the ceremony.

Gurmeet Choudhary is today hailed as a hero, as a saviour and most importantly as a friend of the people. He has worked relentlessly and tirelessly over the past few months with a plethora of relief effort programmes to combat COVID 19 and its repercussions on society. Not only he has been a star off screen but also his on screen magic has wowed the audience in his super hit music videos like Maaza, Bedardi Se Pyaar Ka and much recent Barasat Ki Dhun.

So when the young actor got an invite from the National Association for the Blind known as NAB-India, to be honoured as a special guest for their patriotic musical show, “Zara Yaad Karo Qurbani,” he knew that he had to take time out and be there for such a noble event.

The programme that was telecast on YouTube, Facebook and Instagram took place on the eve of India’s Independance Day, Aug 14 at Blue Sea Banquet Hall in Worli, Mumbai.

The pandemic had made it virtually impossible for NAB-India to raise funds and sustain their ongoing CSR effort projects for the visually impaired. The idea behind the musical show was to raise funds for the young students of NAB-India. The funds raised are going to help with the education of these students.

Gurmeet arrived and spent quality time with all the students and was amazed at the talent displayed in the show. Speaking on the same, he affirmed that, “I am delighted to be able to come here and meet these amazing and inspiring young students of NAB-India. When they invited me as their special guest, I knew I had to make it here and also pledge to help them in their educational pursuits. Covid 19 May have put a pause on the world but when you meet them, you can determine that it has not put a pause on their desire to study, to learn and to thrive. Today, they are an inspiration for the entire country and the best way to meet them was on the occasion of Independence Day.”

The national association for the blind also known as NAB-India has been working for the upliftment and welfare of the visually impaired persons in the society since 1952 in the field of education, rehabilitation, employment, advocacy and prevention of blindness through its various departments and 24 state branches.
