BML Munjal University Plants Native Trees to Nurture Nature on World Environment Day

National, 07 June 2024: On the occasion of World Environment Day, BML Munjal University (BMU) organized a tree plantation drive on its campus to reinforce its commitment to environmental sustainability. The Environment Club, along with students, faculty and staff members, planted trees of native species, aiming to increase the green cover and preserve biodiversity.

Recognizing the critical role of restoring ecosystems, BMU’s initiative is aligned with this year’s World Environment Day theme, ‘Land Restoration, Desertification and Drought Resilience’. As an institution of higher learning, BMU recognizes its pivotal role in shaping future leaders who will champion environmental causes. By integrating sustainability principles into its curriculum and fostering a culture of environmental consciousness, the University aims to empower students to become agents of positive change.

Navi Mumbai, May 2022: SVKM’s NMIMS School of Hospitality Management (SoHM) located at Navi Mumbai, invites applications for its three-year extensive program BBA in Hospitality Operations & Management for aspirants.

SoHM is a one-of-a-kind institution, which besides providing well-rounded individuals to the hospitality industry following their three-year stint, also offers internship programs at various sectors in the hospitality and customer-service industry, providing hands-on and much-needed soft skills training.

Presently the Hospitality sector is witnessing a dramatic increase in global career opportunities. The sector includes a huge range of industries, from hotels and resorts to restaurants, events, and cruise ships, to travel, tourism, and airlines, to name a few. And the range of careers awaiting graduates is just as varied and far-reaching. The reasons to choose hospitality as an emerging career prospect are as many as the business itself and are as deep as its historical roots. With every one in 10 jobs on the planet supported by travel and tourism, according to the World Travel & Tourism Council, the industry presents monumental career opportunities.

Eligibility criteria 

Students passing from across various streams of 10+2 with a minimum of 50% will be admitted into the course through an Entrance test conducted in June, post entrance test the students are screened for their communication and their interest in the service industry through a personal interview

Admission Process  

Selected candidates have to appear for an online test, followed by a personal interview. Students will be selected based on merit, aptitude and language skills. An entrance test of not more than an hour of 50 marks will be conducted based on which students will proceed to the next steps.

About the Program 

BBA – Hospitality Operations and Management with its uniquely blended curriculum spreads over six semesters, From the Hospitality Operations perspective the students are given introduction to fundamentals of Hospitality Operations & Management in the first two semesters. In the third semester intense Operations and Management in volume based business is introduced. In the fourth semester a mandatory industry internship is included in order to get Industry operational experience and connect. As part of the curriculum, engagement with the industry is prioritized to take learning beyond the four walls of the campus.

Fifth and sixth semester focuses on areas of specialization in Management and Entrepreneurship. Personality development and leadership training is an ongoing part of the entire curriculum which develops the students into strategic thinkers with a well-balanced personality, poise, charm and the right attitude to enter any segment of the Hospitality industry upon graduation.

Mumbai: Great Lakes Institute of Management in Chennai announced a partnership with The University of Chicago Booth School of Business – a globally renowned business school – to provide custom executive education programs that offer leadership, strategy, management, and finance frameworks to take participants and their organizations to the next level.

The partnership will design and deliver “Project Ascent,” a high-impact next-generation custom-blended leadership program for senior leaders of L&T. Providing crucial key competencies, this program is scheduled to commence in October 2021. The program serves to support the initiatives in developing a ‘future ready’ pipeline of senior leaders who will play an important role in the organization’s future growth.

To find out solutions of various challenges faced by schools and teachers while giving online classes to the students and how they can develop skills of innovativeness, creativity in the students from starting. So, that they can survive and fit in the today’s job roles, Amity University Gurugram organized a panel discussion on “Education 2025: Reimagining Future Schools”.

Dr Vikas Madhukar, Deputy Pro-Vice Chancellor, Dean, Faculty of Management Studies, Amity University Gurugram in his keynote address at the webinar said that “ Blended Learning model, technology adoption and reform in assessments”. He highlighted the focus on excellence for every child and helping them, building skills and awareness that go beyond what they need simply to find work. Schools should have mechanism by that they can understand student’s mindset, their aspiration, and their dreams. He also mentioned that Amity University offers flexible curriculum in that a student of engineering can learn law, music, and photography.

Dr. Priti Ojha, Principal, Delhi International School, Dwarka while sharing her thoughts said, “Biggest challenge for teachers now is interacting with all students in online classes depriving them to provide personal attention to students. She also mentioned other important challenges faced by the schools like parents busy in their work, gadgets not available at home for online classes.

Ms. Abha Sadana, Principal, The Modern School ECNR citing the research reference stated that student of class 5th in a rural area not able to read books of class 2nd properly. One of the major reasons is effective teacher training programs. She also gave examples like creating urban forest, doodling etc to provide real life exposure and development of critical thinking.

She also mentioned that we need to develop empathy in students to become a good leader and human being rather than making them a robot.

Dr Priya Shrivastava, Principal, Euro International School, Sector -109, Gurugram emphasized that the key area of innovation that help the next Generation to be a future learner is to involve the young people in every stage of the project, educating young girls and youth women in the field of technology especially internet, providing training and employment to the youth of this country.

Dr. Anuradha Govind, Principal, J M International School, Dwarka, Delhi said that “Every student’s strength shall be appreciated. A lot of practical knowledge should be given to them through experiential learning projects. Parents’ involvement is very important and crucial during primary years. She also emphasized on the starting entrepreneurship curriculum at school to encourage students to become job creators than job seekers.

Mr. Sachin Juneja , Director, Market Promotions, AUG while moderating the session stating that if we think of reimagining education then it should be applicable to all, as in pandemic times we have seen nation facing hard challenges and how it disrupted the livelihood and choices of informal economy. He mentioned that to achieve ambitious target of 100% GEP for secondary education, we need to reinvent the wheel and so is this panel has done by brining innovation solutions on board.
