With the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and a threat of Delta variant spreading, IIHMR University believed to cherish the auspicious occasion virtually with the teachers of the University. New Delhi: DSB Foundation takes the lead in becoming India’s Firstfoundation to initiate the campaign-IT’S TIME TO PROTECT THE CHILDREN OF OUR COUNTRY-CHILDREN COVID PROTECTION KIT is being distributed free to the underprivileged children of our country. An initiative by Devir Singh Bhandari, Filmmaker & Author Yuva Bharat, also the Vice President of the DSB Foundation.

Devir Bhandari states “Children seem to be less susceptible to the coronavirus, but they aren’t immune. It is unlikely that any future wave of Covid-19 by the prevailing variants of coronavirus will disproportionately affect children, but as they say Prevention is better than Cure and we cannot risk the lives of our country’s children.”

The Foundation has made a profound impact on the lives of the underprivileged children during COVID-19. Numerous donation drives to distribute food have been conducted.The Foundation has received colossal appreciation for their projects on Road Safety , Environment, COVID Support and International Campaigns. 10 Days Free online Certificate course on ‘Introduction to Human Biology and Medical Terminologies’ by IIHMR University

Jaipur: IIHMR University, Jaipur, has announced a ten-day online free course on ‘Introduction to Human Biology and Medical Terminologies’ from 1st April 2021 to 10th April 2021. It is a 3-credit online course that is being delivered through the Microsoft Team platform from 6 – 8 PM. Candidates from different countries including UAE, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Nepal, Bahrain, India have registered and are actively participating in the program.

The course aims to provide information on the structure and physiological function of the human body systems to help in facilitating the understanding of health and various body functions.

During the Inaugural ceremony,Dr. P.R. Sodani, President, IIHMR University said, “This program is very useful if you are associated with the Health Sector. There are a lot of terminologies that professionals need to know. The program is designed in such a way that it facilitates this important aspect very well.”

FICCI FLO Kolkata organises Cook-along competition at The Hyatt Regency

Kolkata: FICCI Flo Kolkata chapter organised ‘Cook along on a tasty Tuesday’ a fun evening with mouth-watering food at The Hyatt Regency Lawns. With a full house of 100 members, the event was a resounding success as the participants were excited to compete and cook. The organisers adhered to strict safety measures and social distancing as per the COVID norms. The participants were judged by two renowned names in the cooking industry Chef Vikas Singh, Head Chef Hyatt Banquets, and Mr. Mahendra Thulung, commonly known as Rudy and who was amongst the top 7 contestants at Master Chef India 2019.

The event started with the introduction of the judges and participating teams by Ms. Sunira Chamaria, Chairperson, FICCI Flo Kolkata. The members were divided into 12 competing teams named after Italian ingredients – Thyme, Oregano, Parsley, Basil, Rosemary, Mozzarella, Parmesan, Ricotta, Gorgonzola, Burrata, Truffle, and Olive.

The teams had to cook along with the expert chefs of The Hyatt Regency. The lip-smacking menu included Italian delicacies such as Spinach ricotta ravioli with goat’s cheese sauce, Fennel orange and mixed lettuce salad, Pizza from the wood-fired oven, and Dela casa -roasted garlic pesto jalapeño and sun-dried tomato.

All the participating teams performed under the watchful eyes of 10 talented chefs from The Hyatt. A surge of enthusiasm and excitement to win the competition was visible as each team wanted to outdo the other while keeping the competition healthy and fun. One of the teams innovatively created a restaurant to showcase their dishes, whereas another took up the theme of ‘Bonding with Nature’.

The final dishes were judged and tasted by Masterchef Rudy and Executive chef Vikas Singh of Hyatt. After rigorous tasting and judging the similarity to the chef’s dish, Team ‘Thyme’ was announced the winner and took the prize home. They were rewarded with beautiful hampers from Bread and Butter by past chairs of FICCI Ms. Usha Agarwal, Ms. Renuka Shah, and Ms. Rajkumari Saharia.

The event ended with a thank you note from Ms. Sunira Chamaria, who congratulated the winning team and said that it’s more important to enjoy the process of competition than winning it. She thanked the judges, all the participants, and event coordinators, Ms. Ritu Gupta, Ms. Vidhi Agarwal, and The Hyatt team for helping FICCI curate the event with utmost care. All the participating members were presented with microgreens.

“Budget 2021-22 was significant as it was expected to revive the economy after the COVID-19 crisis. Education for All was one of the prime focal areas of the Budget and overall, the announcements made for the sector were positive. The industry was expecting allocations on the implementation of NEP 2020 which has been met to an extent. Emphasis on strengthening the quality of education in schools will benefit students by cementing their primary education and promote growth and knowledge. Setting up of new Sainik schools and Eklavya model residential schools, especially in the remotest parts of the country will further bolster educational development. Upskilling of the youth has become extremely vital in the present scenario. Our youth are our strength and streamlining skill development for them will catalyse a better tomorrow for India. International collaboration on research and development is also a welcome move because the pandemic has made it clear that innovation is the way of the future. Hyderabad: Telangana Health Minister Eatala Rajender speaking at a talk ‘The Next Normal: Navigating Unchartered Waters’ organized by FICCI Ladies Organisation here at Hyderabad today said that the question of money doesn’t arise in the fight against Covid. If the state government gets permission, we will foot the bill for the vaccination of the state’s population. We are committed to the welfare of the people of Telangana, the minister said.

He said that the Telangana state spends Rs.35000 crore per annum for welfare. The talk had Mr. Eatala Rajender, Hon’ble Minister of Medical Health & Family Welfare, Government of Telangana and Ms. Mahima Datla, MD & CEO, Biological E. Ltd. in conversation with Mr. T. Muralidharan, Chair, FICCI Hyderabad.

Speaking further, the minister said that Telangana is ready to give the vaccine to people who can’t afford it. But even if rich people too ask, we are ready to give vaccine to everyone. The Telangana state has a per capita of 2 lakh and above more than double the national per capita. We can bear the cost of the vaccination, he said. Everything is expected expenditure, except health. The duty of the Government must be to take is to take care of public education and health, every government must fulfill this, he opined.

Telangana state has taken 8 lakh doses. 1.09,000 government healthcare workers and over 40,000 private-sector workers have been vaccinated so far, he informed. We are ready to vaccinate people above 50 years and people with co-morbidities as per the guidelines by the Central government. People are questioning the efficacy of the virus and asking about trails. But, this time is not there to question. He said that according to WHO a vaccine is said to be efficient if it has a 50% efficacy. We have vaccines with much better efficacy in a short time. We are going to give vaccines to each and everyone, he said.

Ms. Mahima Datla, MD & CEO, Biological E. Ltd. addressing the gathering said that we don’t have a source of credible scientific information. She lamented that the do’s and don’ts list and FAQs for who can take vaccination came much late. It should have been earlier, people should be educated, she said. Sharing the top three learning from the Covid situation, Ms. Mahima said that we must collaborate with a global network to know about the emergence of viruses in time. Global surveillance of viruses must be there and WHO is not enough, she said. India has a greater opportunity to play, she opined. There are about 25-30 viruses only that have pandemic potential. We are exposed to a lot of viruses and build immunity over time. But, when viruses jump from species to species our body doesn’t have time to overcome them, she said.

Government should invest in research and new tools to minimize the time taken to produce the vaccine. 30 viruses are not insurmountable, she said. We need some infrastructure that is kept ready when we face challenges, she added. Answering a question on herd immunity, Ms. Mahima said that the notion of getting herd immunity by infection is bad. The best way to deal is by immunizing maximum number of people in the shortest possible time, she said.

T. Muralidharan, Chair, FICCI Hyderabad requested the Minister to recommend the removal of GST for companies that give insurance to its employees.

Earlier, speaking in her welcome address Ms. Usharani Manne, Chairperson, FLO Hyderabad Chapter said that now that the vaccines are out, it was the correct time to organize the Face2Face to understand the logistics and efficacy of the vaccines that are coming out, especially in India. And to learn to prepare ourselves for more such incidences.

“Education is one of the primary sectors in any country and there is a huge expectancy from Budget 2021 for reviving the sector after the Covid-induced challenges that the industry has faced this year. The pandemic has given us a clear picture of the great digital divide in our country. The underprivileged are at a disadvantage due to the lack of proper facilities to attend online classes. They do not have enough resource to afford digital education. Covid acted as an eye opener to reveal that India is yet not prepared for digital education and the Budget must mitigate these challenges. There are expectations of adding more budgetary measures to reform the education sector as was recommended in the NEP 2020. The education system requires higher investments to progress. The Union Budget of this year must prepare a financial scheme for the implementation of NEP and ensure adequate resources for expanding and strengthening the education system. NEP 2020 and COVID-19 made it prominent that this year K12 education sector needs more attention and priority from Government of India in the Budget of 2021. Allocating of 6% of the GDP towards Education would lead to a healthy start in the further progress to build a strong foundation. Opening FDI into education would be a good option as well. With schools around the country re-opening, the budget should also be allocated towards safety measures to ensure that the virus does not spread.
