The Covid-19 pandemic had brought the entire world to a standstill last year. To name a few heroes who worked remarkably amidst the Covid-19 outbreak to serve the society were Dr. Aparna Singh, Dr. Ankita Garge, Dr. Vaishali Kashikar, Dr. Poornima Dhake, Dr. Santosh Kembhavi, Mr. Bhalchandra Nemade, Mr. Kiran Waghmare, Ms. Rohini Lokare, Mr. Pramod More, Mr. Surendra Tengale, Dr. Parag Bhanushali, Ms. Uma Kale, Mr. Vikram Bhavarte, Mr. Anthonies Francis and Mr. Pratik Tirodkar.

As the Covid cases weren’t dropping in Kalyan-Dombivli region due to high density and tiny congested apartments, Dr Poornima Dhake, Medical Officer at the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) along with her team took some stringent measures to control the spread of the virus. KDMC continued to seal the entire wing of a building when a case was identified. Her department had started a campaign to raise awareness among shopkeepers and vegetable vendors after complaints that they were routinely seen flouting mask-wearing rules.

Pratik Tirodkar, a 23-year-old instrumentation engineer from Dombivli, created a first-of-its kind ‘Internet-controlled’ robot specifically to address the needs of hospitals treating COVID-19 patients. The gizmo, aptly called ‘Coro-bot’ independently dispensed food, water, beverages, medicines – and even some good advice – to Corona patients without the needs for nurses, ward staff or other care-givers. Pratik donated the first Coro-bot to KDMC to help health workers in dealing with Covid patients. The Coro-bot was deployed successfully at Holy Cross Hospital in Kalyan to serve food and water to Covid patients.

Ms. Rohini Lokare, Deputy Engineer & Manager Dombivli Gymkhana Covid Centre relentlessly worked for the Covid patients. Ms. Vaishali Kashikar, Medical Officer at KDMC was instrumental in the KDMC’s Covid-19 vaccine dry run conducted at a health post at Gita Harkisandas Civic Hospital in Kolsewadi Kalyan.

The event started with a flag hoisting ceremony and concluded successfully by honouring all of them for their exceptional duties and contribution to the community.

Sale of plots picking up pace, likely to breach 2020 mark sooner

According to insider reports, the number of plots sold since 2019 has been declining; however, this year, the progress has been good and plots’ sale is likely to breach the 2020 figures at the end of the second half of 2021. Realty experts say that the in 2020 the sale of plots came down to 50% compared to 2019, but post pandemic the situation has improved with people coming out invest in plots from end-user perspective as well as investors.

“The market is booming, and based on the flow of people, it’s worth noting that having a plot near a financial centre can help you earn a good return. Although prices are now low, they are expected to rise as the economy recovers from a major setback caused by the COVID issue. The flow of people towards places with the best health facilities and work possibilities will increase, and these metros will become goldmines for those who have purchased plots,” says Prateek Mittal, Executive Director, Sushma Group.

Realtors feel that the increased sale of plots attests that post-pandemic people have started looking for independent pieces of land where they can spend a healthy and secure life. The plots launched by reputed developers are the first choice as they add credibility and promise a better lifestyle in gated communities. Throwing light on the trend of plotted developments, Dhiraj Jain, Director, Mahagun Group, says “Many reputable developers are now active in plotted development projects across the country, and demand has always been strong. Builder-planned communities provide the infrastructure needed to begin living and offer a good return on a patient long-term investment.”

Real estate brokers say that more than 11,000 units were launched in the first half of 2021 in top cities compared to around 16,000 in 2020. Maximum units were launched in Chennai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad; the Delhi NCR market witnessed the launch of more than 600 units in the first half compared to around 1100 in 2019. “Plotted development investment is a time-honoured tradition in India, and COVID-19 has bolstered demand for plotted development as a long-term investment. Buyers are looking for developments like this in gated communities to expand on and utilise as separate residences. Plotted developments by well-known developers are constantly in demand, and they promise a solid return on investment. The value proposition, however, is dependent on the geography and infrastructure,” adds Ashok Gupta, CMD, Ajnara India Ltd.

Buyers have long been torn between living in an apartment or on separate floors; the dilemma is deciding between having your patio and sharing utilities with others. “However, having a yard in a metropolis is a pipe dream due to land scarcity and high prices. As a result, developers are launching a slew of plotted development projects in Metro’s outskirts; these projects prove to be rather popular, especially in the post-pandemic age, when people crave more space. Authorities plots are always safe; if a private developer is launching a planned development project, one should always choose reputable developers,” says Vikas Garg, Deputy MD, MRG World.

CenturyPly pledges to plant 10,000 trees on Van Mahotsav 2021

India: On occasion of Van Mahotsav 2021, Century Plyboards (India) Ltd., India’s largest manufacturer in Wood Panel Industry, has pledged to initiate a green CSR drive by planting 10,000 trees across the states of West Bengal and Haryana.

To mark Van Mahotsav 2021, the annual forest festival that usually takes place during first week of July all across the country, CenturyPly took the first step towards this new tree plantation drive aiming to nurture the environment with 10000 trees in the regions of West Bengal , Haryana , adhering to all COVID-19 safety protocols. The company will continue to plant more saplings under its existing ‘Century Plantation Project’ over the coming months and will target to achieve more than 10,000 tree plantation in next one year.

CenturyPly, as an environmentally responsible brand, always advocates eco-friendly solution in its whole range of products and services. With the blend of innovation and sustainability together, the brand has emerged to be an eco-friendly manufacturer of plywood. The company uses 95% of plantation timbers as product raw-materials, which eventually compensate the loss of resources and sustains ecological balance. CenturyPly also supports sustainable manufacturing by providing genetically improved, pure, high yielding and disease resistant clones of Eucalyptus and Poplars to the farmers under Century Plantation Project in Pragati Biotechnologies in Hoshiarpur , Punjab . In past, CenturyPly also worked with local self-help groups and Municipal Corporation on sustainable green initiatives.

With the rising emission of Greenhouse gases (GHGs), deforestation, increasing dependence on fossil fuels, the nature is not more a safe place for our future generations. To avoid such grave scenario, planting a tree is a perfect solution. A tree has the potential to seize about a tonne of carbon over 50 years. What’s more, it generates enough oxygen for two human beings for their entire lifetime.

Speaking on the initiative Ms. Nikita Bansal, Executive Director, Century, said, “With a vision of a greener tomorrow, CenturyPly is committed to bring positive environmental solutions by adapting an effective step towards nurturing the eco-system. Over the years, as an eco-friendly entity, we have taken a conscious call of shifting our product raw material from using 100% forest timber to 90% plantation timber, which we believe is a unique initiative to sustain the balance of nature. Taking this pledge is just a stepping-stone for us in our journey to become a resilient and empathetic organization. This pledge is not only to create a sustainable ecosystem but also prepare all for an Eco Conscious Living.”
