6th Usha Divyang Cricket League 2021 starts in Chandigarh tomorrow

Underpinning its commitment to supporting inclusive platforms that improve the quality of life for the youth through sports and an active lifestyle, Usha, India’s leading consumer durables company continues its association with All India Cricket Association for the Deaf (AICAD) and Deaf Cricket Federation as sponsors of the 6th edition of the Usha Divyang Cricket League. The league will see192 specially-abled cricketers play across three categories: visually impaired, hearing impaired, and wheelchair categories. The 3-day cricket tournament for the specially-abled cricketers will be played over three days starting March 25th, across three venues – Sector 16, Sector 26 and Sector 19 Stadiums. Shri K.K. Yadav (Secretary Sports), Shri Suresh Krishnani (Principal Chief GST Commissioner), Shri Sanjay Beniwal (Director General of Police) will be amongst the guests attending the event.

The first three editions of the league, starting in 2013, were limited to the hearing impaired athletes. Exhibition matches of wheel chair enabled cricketers and visually impaired cricketers were introduced only in the 4th edition. The 5th edition of the league witnessed four wheelchair cricket teams and two visually impaired teams participating, in addition to eight hearing impaired cricket teams. The 6th edition of the League will have 12 teams with Wheelchair Cricketers, Blind Cricketers and Deaf Cricketers – Silent Heroes, Chenab XI, Jhelum XI, Satluj XI, Ravi XI, Beas XI, Special Lions, Tiger Eyes, Visions, Punjab Heroes, DCF XI, and Wheelers XI.

Mr. Padam Passi, Chief Organiser of the League, said, “The vision behind the league is to encourage and provide thespecially-abled cricketers a platform to showcase their talent and determination. Usha has also been a key sponsor for the Indian Deaf Cricket Team for the Deaf Cricket Asia Cup. Many of the participating players have also represented India as a part of the Indian DeafCricket Team and various other international tournaments.

Usha International Associates with NK Racing Academy

Usha International, one of India’s leading consumer durables brand, today announced its partnership with the NK Racing Academy as Associate Sponsor for the Rotax Max National Karting Championship to be held at Meco Kartopia, Bangalore. Usha International will support the academy for this initiative to encourage and discover new talent in the world of racing, reiterating Usha’s commitment to helping improve the quality of life for youth through sports and promote an active and healthy lifestyle.

The tournament will take place in December-January over weekends comprising a total of 5 rounds with 4 races each – Rotax India Round 1 and 2 from 4th to 6th December 2020, Rotax India Round 3 and 4 from 18th to 20th December 2020, and Rotax India Round 5 from 8th to 10th January 2021. With a total of 20 races, this event will see over 50 budding racers from across the country vying for top honours. As a part of the association, the Usha branding will be seen on the T-shirts of the participants, on the backdrop boards in the pit, and on the race car nose. While the pit garage area at the racing venue will be equipped with Usha fans and air coolers, Usha will also be installing various products from its portfolio in the Narain Karthikeyan Academy that will aid an active and healthy lifestyle.
