Nestlé India, Dr. Reddy’s Forge Joint Venture for Nutraceutical Portfolio Expansion

Gurugram and Hyderabad, India, April 25, 2024: Nestlé India Limited (BSE : 500790, NSE: NESTLEIND) referred hereafter as “Nestlé India” and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BSE: 500124, NSE: DRREDDY, NYSE: RDY, NSEIFSC: DRREDDY; along with its subsidiaries together referred to as “Dr. Reddy’s”), both together referred as “JV Partners”, today announced that they have entered into a definitive agreement to form a joint venture (“JV Company”) to bring innovative nutraceutical brands to consumers in India and other agreed territories. The partnership will bring together the well-known global range of nutritional health solutions as well as vitamin, minerals, herbals and supplements of Nestlé Health Science (NHSc) with the strong and established commercial strengths of Dr. Reddy’s in India. The joint venture will help JV Partners combine their strengths and grow their complementary nutraceuticals portfolios in categories such as metabolic, hospital nutrition, general wellness , women’s health and child nutrition for consumers across India.

 The JV Company will be headquartered in Hyderabad. The JV Company will leverage the capabilities as well as services of the Nestlé Group and Dr. Reddy’s.  Select brands will be licensed by the JV Partners to the JV company. The Nestlé Group will license brands such as Nature’s Bounty, Osteo Bi-Flex, Ester-C, Resource High Protein, Optifast, Resource Diabetic, Peptamen, Resource Renal and Resource Dialysis. Dr. Reddy’s will license brands such as Rebalanz, Celevida, Antoxid, Kidrich-D3, Becozinc in the nutrition, and OTC segments. The JV Company is expected to become operational in Q2 of FY’25.

IIM Raipur’s 13th Annual Convocation Celebrates Academic Excellence Milestone

National, April 11 th , 2024: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Raipur proudly hosted its 13th Annual Convocation Ceremony on Wednesday, April 10th, 2024, commemorating the academic achievements and successes of its graduating students. The ceremony, held at the institute’s campus in Naya Raipur, was a momentous occasion filled with pride and celebration. Family members, friends, and distinguished guests were audience to 22 student exchange graduates, 298 Post Graduate Program graduates, 184 E-PGP graduates, and 11 Fellow and Executive Fellow Program in Management graduates received their convocation degrees and medals.

Along with these, 124 alumni from Batch 2018-20 and 2019-21 who had received their degree online also attended the ceremony and were physically convocated. Distinguished guests and esteemed speakers graced the event, inspiring and motivating the young graduates as they prepared to embark on their professional journeys.

The Chief Guest for the ceremony was Shri G V Prasad, Co-Chairman and Managing Director of Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, who delivered the Convocation Address. Shri Puneet Dalmia, Chairperson of the Board of Governors, extended a warm Welcome Address, while Prof. Ram Kumar Kakani, Director of IIM Raipur, highlighted the institute’s achievements and milestones in the Director’s Report.

The chairperson BoG, Shri Puneet Dalmia congratulated the graduating batch and advised them to embrace lifelong learning. He further said, “Let the timeless Indian values be your guiding star, as you go through the ups and downs of life and navigate challenges to ultimately reach your goals. As you leave IIM Raipur and step into a world filled withopportunities, you carry with you not just a degree but a legacy of excellence. The knowledge you’ve gained here is a tool, not just for your personal success but for the larger good of society.”

Chief guest Shri G V Prasad encouraged graduating students to be the future leaders of India, filled with potential and promise, stepping into the world by remembering to embrace innovation, resilience, and continuous learning. He urged them to navigate challenges and make meaningful contributions to society, to actively participate in initiatives that drive  positive change.

He said, “The management education prepares you for three aspects of your work life: It gives you a broad perspective, develops your analytical and critical thinking skills and prepares you to face your life. Pivotal moments lead to the discovery and shaping of purpose in our journey.” He further talked about his journey at Dr. Reddy’s where at times he faced the hardships and had to lead the company through it making the company stronger than who run it. With this he urged the graduates to not be taken aback when moments of crisis come their way, they might be the ones that shape the purpose.

Furthermore, Prof. Kakani presented the Director’s report, where he shared IIM Raipur’s achievements in the past academic year, reflecting on its fourteen years of existence. He emphasised on Returns on Investments (ROI) in Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) of National Importance where he said, “The investment time frame across different sectors of society varies based on the nature of activities and the decision-makers involved. In higher education, academics align with the category where the requirement is long-term commitment akin to esteemed institutions like the Universities of Nalanda, Takshshila, Cambridge, and Oxford. Recognizing this, we should appreciate the significance of this aspect in nurturing IIM Raipur. Unlike the transient returns the impact of institutions like the Oxford endures across centuries. We at IIM Raipur strive towards the same as mentioned in our “Memorandum of Association” mandated by the Government of India.”

IIM Raipur has emerged as a leading business school in the country securing the 11th position in the NIRF ranking. Committed to providing a global perspective to its programs and activities, the institute has fostered collaborations with institutions worldwide, exemplified by its International Student Exchange Program, research collaborations and publications and its own Case House- CHIRP.

In the past year, IIM Raipur has witnessed notable initiatives and achievements which includes organizing the 7th HR Summit and the 7th Leadership Summit, which provided platforms for insightful discussions on contemporary challenges and opportunities in business and leadership. IIM Raipur’s convocation ceremony also saw gold medals being awarded for scholastic performance. Among the Post Graduate Programme (PGP) students, Mahalakshmi Shanmugam received the BOG Chairperson’s Gold Medal, Tanvi Bagora received the Director’s Gold Medal, Revant Madhur Agrawal received the PGP Chairperson’s medal and Arjun Vansil received the medal for best overall performance.

Amongst the Executive Post Graduate Programme (EPGP B2) students, Prachi Dikshit received the BOG Chairperson’s Gold Medal, Isha Bhatia received the Director’s Gold Medal and Nagesh Madhwal received the EPGP Chairperson’s gold medal for their scholastic
performance.

In a first, IIM Raipur conducted a gratitude ceremony for parents and teachers: ‘Matr, Pitr, and Guru Pujan’ where students expressed their gratitude towards their parents and  of the convocation day. It is worth noting that this is the first time that such a ceremony has been organized and this sets IIM Raipur apart from others.

IIM Raipur stands firm in its commitment to providing exceptional education and preparing students for prosperous careers. The institute takes pride in the graduates’ proficiency and knowledge that reflect dedication to excellence.

Former DRDO Chairman says: Gaganyaan Mission will be ready for launch next year

New Delhi, February 5, 2024 – The Birla Institute of Technology Old Students Association (BITOSA) marked a significant milestone with the successful conclusion of its 8th annual BITOSA Global Conclave – BGC 8. The event, held at The Ashok, New Delhi, brought together 300 delegates from 6 countries physically and engaged 1,00,000 members across 60 countries through live streaming and recordings.

Under the leadership of Niraj Sharan, President, BITOSA Global, BGC 8 showcased a diverse array of discussions and presentations, addressing key themes such as Aerospace & Defence, Start-ups, Data Privacy, and AI. The conclave aimed to shape the future through insightful deliberations and collaborations on emerging global trends.

The inaugural session featured Ayush Aggarwal, Convenor BGC 8, along with a keynote address by His Excellency Freddy Svane, the Danish Ambassador to India, Nepal, Bhutan, and Maldives. Dr. G. Satheesh Reddy, Former Secretary Defence R & D, GOI, and Scientific Advisor to Raksha Mantri, and Former Chairman of DRDO, provided a glimpse into India’s achievements in space-related fields.

Dr Reddy who is also known as the missile man of PM Modi revealed exciting news, “This year experimentation of the ‘Gaganyaan Mission’ is planned and India will be ready to launch the mission next year.”

Under the ‘Gaganyaan Mission’, ISRO will be sending three humans to an orbit of 400 km for a 3-day mission and bring them back safely to Earth.

Another keynote speaker was Dr Indranil Manna, Vice Chancellor, Birla Institute of Technology, Ranchi. Apoorva Chandra(IAS), Secretary I & B, GOI give a thought-provoking talk. Speaking during the session, he stated, “Today, the development of technologies like UPI provides countless benefits to the common people. There was a time when the government had to go through numerous processes to send subsidy amounts, and it took a long time to reach the common people. However, today, thousands of crores of rupees can be transferred to beneficiaries with just one click.”

An engaging session on ‘NextGen in Wellness and Smart Food’ explored the importance of a ‘millet diet,’ featuring social entrepreneur Guneet Swani and Dr. Biswaroop Roy Chowdhury, the creator of DIP Diet. Dr. Vrinder Garg – President PGIMER, also addressed the gathering on the importance of regular health checkups. Dr. Sanjeev Juneja, known as “The Brand Machine,” received the Outstanding Business Leader award.

The conclave’s focus on innovation and start-ups included a panel discussion ‘Dream, Dare, Do,’ followed by an update on the startup accelerator BIG. Jagdish Mitra – Chief Strategy Officer and Head of Growth at Tech Mahindra talked about life in the era of AI.

In another panel discussion ‘AI Transformation and Digital Security’ which dwelled on data privacy, security and AI. Boston Consulting Group’s MD Saurabh Chandra shared his insights. Dr Nirmaljeet Singh Kalsi (IAS), Chairperson, National Council for Vocational Education and Training, GOI expressed his views. The session also saw Anoop Zutshi, Board Member Frost & Sullivan, USA giving his views.

New Delhi: Amway India, one of the country’s leading FMCG direct selling companies, today announced the launch of #FightMalnutrition campaign commemorating the National Nutrition Week 2021. Leveraging this year’s theme – feed smart from start, the campaign will draw on Amway’s globally renowned Power of 5 programme to drive awareness about malnutrition in children under 5years of age.

In the recent National Family Health Survey, approximately 80% of India’s states and Union Territories have recorded an alarming rise in childhood malnutrition. Moreover, over 68% of children die in India due to malnutrition*. To highlight the severity of the scenario, Amway India, through #FightMalnutrition, is encouraging its direct sellers, retailers, and employees to take a pledge and support its Power of 5 initiative. The campaign entails- For every pledge taken on social media, Amway India will add one child to its nutrition programme.

Hyderabad, India and Princeton, NJ, USA – Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd. along with its subsidiaries together referred to as “Dr. Reddy’s”  announced the launch of Febuxostat Tablets, a therapeutic equivalent generic version of Uloric (Febuxostat) Tablets approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (USFDA).

The Uloric brand and generic had U.S. sales of approximately $108 million MAT for the most recent twelve months ending in October 2020 according to IQVIA Health*.

Dr. Reddy’s Febuxostat Tablets are available in 40 mg and 80 mg strengths in bottle count sizes of 30 tablets.

WARNING: CARDIOVASCULAR DEATH

Gout patients with established cardiovascular (CV) disease treated with Febuxostat had a higher rate of CV death compared to those treated with allopurinol in a CV outcomes study [see Warnings and Precautions (5.1)].

Consider the risks and benefits of Febuxostat when deciding to prescribe or continue patients on Febuxostat. Febuxostat should only be used in patients who have an inadequate response to a maximally titrated dose of allopurinol, who are intolerant to allopurinol, or for whom treatment with allopurinol is not advisable [see Indications and Usage (1)].
