Adamas University To Host Its 4th Convocation…

Kolkata: Adamas University rated as one of the best private Universities in Eastern India, will be hosting its 4th Convocation ceremony. Eminent dignitary Prof. Roald Hoffmann, Frank H.T Rhodes Professor of Humane letters, Emeritus, Cornell University, New York and Nobel prize winner in Chemistry in 1981 will be the Chief Guest. Prof. Claude Cohen – Tannoudji Noble prizewinner in Physics in 1997 would deliver the convocation address and Chancellor Prof. Samit Ray would preside over the ceremony.

Adamas University has streamlined its activities digitally with the emergence of the pandemic. They will also take various initiatives focusing on the holistic wellbeing of its students. To further avoid any gathering and maintaining the COVID safety protocols the University decided to take the convocation ceremony physically for gold and silver medal winners. The rest of the students will be addressed on Zoom, the video for which will stream on YouTube and Facebook. A total of 684 students (bachelors, masters, diploma put together) will be honored at this prestigious occasion.

Speaking on the occasion Prof. Samit Ray, Chancellor, Adamas University said, “This pandemic has impacted the education system hugely. I am grateful to my students and faculty for their constant support and cooperation. Last year was challenging which gave us opportunity to learn and unlearn both. This year we are hopeful for something better and Convocation ceremony will be a good opportunity to acknowledge our students who have exceptionally done well even in tough times. I am thankful to Prof. Roald Hoffmann and Prof. Claude Cohen who have agreed to be a part of this momentous occasion and I am sure their august presence will create a new perspective among the students.”

Adamas University Partnered In “Tuning India Project”

Kolkata: Adamas University rated as one of the best private Universities in Eastern India, will be part of the “Tuning India Project” along with the University of Deusto, Spain. This project will see the participation of 19 universities from the European Union and India. Adamas University would receive funding of € 18,743 for this project.

Adamas University is a partner university in the Erasmus Plus funded “Tuning India Project” which is a three-year project that had started in 2017 and has been extended till October 2021 due to outbreak of the pandemic in 2020. The Project Consortium has presence of 15 Indian Universities like University of Calcutta, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Savitribai Phule Pune University, GD Goenka University, Vinoba Bhave University and others and 5 partners from the European Union like Universidad de Deusto (Spain), Universita di Bologna (Italy), Trinity College Dublin (Ireland) and others. The main coordinator of the Project is University of Deusto.

The main objective of Tuning India Project is to design, develop, implement and evaluate study programmes in four subject areas like Law, Information Communication Technology, Medicine and Teacher Education in India, which contributes to reform Higher Education in India, planned by the Government of India.

Adamas University would be represented in the Tuning India Project by Dr. Parimal Chandra Biswas, Director, International Relations as coordinator of the project and Dr. Ripon Bhattacharjee, Associate Professor of School of Law and Justice as subject teacher to contribute to study programs.

Besides the main objective of curricular development, the Project has other objectives like developing mutual trust, respect, mobility among partner universities and promoting internalization of each partner institution.

ADAMAS UNIVERSITY SETS STANDARDS IN HR PRACTICES

Kolkata: Kolkata-based private university, Adamas University, ranked by several media organizations as the best privately managed university in Eastern India, set high standards in human resources best practices through its Adamas Dialogue 2020 program held for its faculty and non-teaching members, numbering more than 600. This was the first ever intra-university employee dialogue where HR best practices were given due recognition, a gesture unprecedented by any educational institute in Eastern India.

On a day marked with several interesting dance, music, poetry recitation performances by the team including those from the Chancellor and the Vice Chancellor as well, the University promoted 15% of its faculty members on a single day, and awarded 42 of its total staff members for excellent work during the tough pandemic year of 2020 in different functional areas from teaching-mentoring, research, support functions, leadership, et al.

Interestingly, the University announced implementation of medical insurance, provident fund and gratuity for all full time staff members, now that the university has completed five years of operation and in the sixth year currently.

The future plans of expansion were also unravelled by the Chancellor making full and best use of the 130 acres of land of the campus, only half of which has been utilized so far.

The Vice Chancellor elucidated upon the Adamas 2.0 plans focussing on new specialized programs of education, a hedgehog strategy to focus on core strengths and build on them, and a positive leadership approach that upholds gratitude and recognition at every level of work.

Adamas University currently has around 400 students, 226 faculty members with 172 of them having PhD, nine schools of learning, and a sprawling green campus at Barasat, near Kolkata.

“Adamas Dialogue will now on be an annual affair through which the university will remember all good work done collectively and individually by the members of the teaching and non-teaching fraternity here in the year gone by, roadmap for the next year will be discussed, and promotions and rewards for excellence announced, and it is evolving to be a best practice in Human Resources in higher education in India,” noted the Chancellor, Prof Samit Ray.

Adamas University To Organize International Students’ Conference 2020

Adamas University rated as one of the best private Universities in Eastern India, is all set to organize a virtual International Students’ Conference on Saturday, 5th December 2020. The topic of the conference is Education: Creating Future Today, Going Beyond the Pandemic.
