CRSI Successfully Concludes 33rd National Symposium in Chemistry in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, India, 11th July, 2024:The Chemical Research Society of India (CRSI) successfully concluded its 33rdCRSI National Symposium in Chemistry (CRSI NSC) and CRSI-ACS Lectures in Hyderabad. The three-day symposium that began on 4th July 2024 witnessed an exceptional gathering of over 350 delegates from the realm of chemistry. Hosted by Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd., the symposium showcased cutting-edge research, fostered networking opportunities, and celebrated excellence in the field of chemistry.

The luminaries at the symposium included G V Prasad, Co-Chairman & Managing Director, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd., Prof.UdayMaitra, President, CRSI, Prof. N. Jayaraman, Secretary General, CRSI, Prof.SwagataDasgupta from IIT Kharagpur, Prof.Goverdhan Mehta from the University of Hyderabad, Prof. V. Chandrasekhar from TIFR Hyderabad, Prof.BalakrishnanNaduvalath from the University of Nevada, USA, Prof. Erick M. Carreira from ETH Zurich and many other distinguished chemists from the country. Dr. Rakeshwar Bandichhor, Vice President and Head of Chemistry, API – PR&D, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd., and Convener, and Dr. Srinivas Oruganti, Director, Dr. Reddy’s Institute of Life Sciences and Co-convener of this symposium also welcomed the CRSI attendees.

The symposium began with welcome remarks by esteemed personalities such as GV Prasad, Co-Chairman & Managing Director, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd., and Prof. Goverdhan Mehta, Distinguished Professor, University of Hyderabad, followed by Prof.UdayMaitra, President, CRSI and Prof. N. Jayaraman, Secretary General, CRSI. The symposium technical program featured insightful sessions and lectures chaired by eminent professors, researchers, and several other distinguished speakers, covering diverse topics from “Chemistry in the Extreme Quantum Regime” to “Strained Ring Systems for the Construction of Heterocyclic Compounds” and host of other topics covering advancing frontiers in chemical sciences. Poster presentations showcased cutting-edge research from institutions nationwide, while interactive discussions on the future of scientific meetings underscored the symposium’s role in shaping advancements in chemical sciences. Highlight lectures on innovations in cancer therapy and sustainable chemistry further enriched the symposium’s scientific discourse.

The symposium concluded with the announcement of several poster awards and the venue for the upcoming CRSI NSC-34 at IISER Bhopal during the first week of February 2025.
