News18 India Outperforms Gecs in Terms of Reach

Oct 14, New Delhi: The country’s number one Hindi news channel News18 India has outperformed popular GECs in terms of reach.

As per BARC data, News18 India has outperformed top general entertainment channels such as STAR Plus, Sony, and Zee TV with a cumulative reach of 8.7 crores (BARC; Cume reach ‘000: HSM; All 15+; Avg. Wk 37-40’22). According to BARC data, the cumulative reach of STAR Plus stood at 7.6 crores, whereas the cumulative reach of Sony and Zee Tv stood at 6.56 crore and 6.52 crore respectively.

Commenting on the viewership data, Karan Abhishek Singh, CEO, of Hindi News at Network18 said, “News18 India has a reach significantly better than all the major GECs. Our reach and viewership numbers show the kind of audience trust we enjoy. For advertisers, it’s a great opportunity to use news genre as their preferred vehicle and to take their brand to audiences in a much more efficient and impactful way.”

In Hindi news genre, News18 India has been number one in terms of both viewership and reach for over three months now.

This week too News18 India has continued its dominance as the leader in the national Hindi news channel segment with 15.9% (Wk. 40’22, 24 hrs, TG: 15+, HSM), as compared to TV9 Bharatvarsh’s 13.0%, India TV’s 12.6% and AajTak’s 12.5% market share.

The channel has done exceedingly well in the most sought-after 9 -10 PM prime time band.

News18 India’s Kishore Ajwani has an 18.4% share as compared to Aajtak’s Sudhir Chaudhary who is at the number 4 position with a market share of 14.1%. (2100-2200hrs Wk. 40’22, 24 hrs, TG: 15+, HSM).

Additionally, during the prime time band of 9-10 pm, News18 India garners almost three times the viewership than that of ABP news, which stood at 6.1%.

India Leveraging Geospatial Technologies to Tackle Sustainability Challenges and Empower Communities: UNWGIC 2022

Hyderabad – October 14, 2022:  With the theme of “Geo-Enabling the Global Village: No one should be left behind”, the United Nations Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM) has convened the Second United Nations World Geospatial Information Congress (UNWGIC) in Hyderabad, India from 10-14 October 2022.

For more than a decade, Esri has been at the forefront of assisting the United Nations and national governments in addressing the complex challenges of sustainable development. Supporting the sustainable development agenda, Esri India, the country’s leading Geographic Information System (GIS) Software & Solutions provider, showcased two critical initiatives namely – Bhu-Kaushal (Esri India-CSC Academy joint initiative for women empowerment and education) and Mera Gaav, Hamara Jal (Esri India – Amrita Vishwa Vidyalayam joint initiative for strengthening community resilience through Geospatial). The initiatives were showcased in the G-Chaupal, a platform that seeks to link village communities with geospatial services at UNGWIC-2022.

Dr. Debapriya Dutta, Advisor & Head, Seed, SSTP Division, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India said, “G-Chaupal is a unique initiative at UNWGIC 2022 through which we have brought out the discussions of geo-enablement out of the four walls of the conference. This showcasing by the real stakeholders is the proof of ‘Geo-Enabling the Global Village: No one should be left behind.’”

The Bhu-Kaushal (भू-कौशल) is a first-of-its-kind program by Esri India in collaboration with CSC Academy, which aims to empower rural women with spatial skills and the use of GIS technologies. The program was launched last year. Under the umbrella of the ‘Women empowerment through promotion of education and livelihood enhancement project”, the vision of the program is to skill 10000 rural women in 3 years. At UNWGIC 2022, when some rural women personally shared their learning experiences and how geospatial knowledge and skills have helped them in earning their livelihood, it was evident that geospatial technologies have been able to make a difference in empowering and transforming communities. The program has already skilled 5000+ rural women in geospatial skills and the numbers in geo-enablement of rural women are continually growing.

Mera Gaav, Hamara Jal acts as a force multiplier in fostering safer living conditions and the overall well-being of communities. At UNWGIC 2022, the elaborate showcase of the initiative reinforced the fact that collaboration among different stakeholders, for instance, in this case, the industry and academia, can bring social change and build resilience. The initiative is actively helping in creating water-wise communities.

Hosted by the Government of India through the Ministry of Science and Technology, the 5-day conference is being attended by over 2,000 delegates including 700 plus international delegates & participants from about 150 countries.

Orolia’s New-Gen Distress Tracking Emergency Locator Transmitter First to Receive Certification from Cospas-Sarsat and European Union Safety Agency

The approval paves the way for Orolia’s ELT-DT to play essential roles in meeting the aviation industry’s advanced safety mandates worldwide

GUIDEL, FRANCE – Oct. 14, 2022 – Orolia, the world leader in resilient positioning, navigation and timing, is the first company to receive certification from Cospas-Sarsat and the European Union Safety Agency for its new-generation distress tracking emergency locator transmitter, the ELT-DT. The approval verifies Orolia’s continuous advancements in global beacon technology, including securing a single source, multi-year program contract to supply ELT-DTs for all Airbus aircraft programs.

Cospas-Sarsat is an international, humanitarian search and rescue system that uses space-based technology to detect and locate 406 emergency beacons carried by ships, aircraft, or individuals venturing into remote areas, often inaccessible by GNSS signals. The system consists of a network of satellites, ground stations, mission control centers (MCCs), and rescue coordination centers (RCCs) that work together when a 406 beacon is activated.

“Being the first company to certify a distress tracking ELT shows again Orolia’s unique ability to provide the industry with the most innovative safety solutions,” said Jérôme Ramé, Orolia’s Aviation & Military Product Line Director. “With Ultima-DT, we address the EASA-mandated requirement for the location of aircraft in distress but also the market need for an ELT meeting the most recent safety standards.”

Orolia developed the Ultima-DT in response to recent aviation safety mandates to improve global aircraft tracking. As per the ICAO Global Aeronautical Distress and Safety Systems (GADSS) recommendation and European Union mandate, all new aircraft delivered from January 2024 shall be able to autonomously report their location anywhere in the world and determine the end-of-flight location to help rescue teams rapidly locate the aircraft and recover flight recorders.

Unlike traditional automatic fixed ELTs and stand-alone units, the Ultima-DT is tightly connected to the avionics system. It activates upon detecting a potential distress condition and starts transmitting automatically while the aircraft is still in flight. This next-generation ELT autonomously acquires the aircraft’s location and sends a 406 MHz message in real-time, including the accurate location, to the Cospas-Sarsat distress alert organization.

The Ultima-DT is also the world’s first ELT to fully comply with the latest EASA/FAA safety requirements for non-rechargeable lithium battery-powered equipment through (E)TSO-C142b. As part of its efforts to support airlines in their regulatory compliance projects, Orolia is also offering its portable Ultima-S ELT, which aims to meet these special conditions.

First Ever India-Luxembourg Summit Held at Luxembourg

To bring together & synergize business opportunities between the two nations, the Luxembourg India Connect Summit, was jointly organized by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), TLGS Consulting Group Private Limited, Brahmashira Astra Bharat Private Limited, in association with Lux Innovation, Luxembourg Government supported by Embassy of India in Belgium, Luxembourg and European Union.
