Now watch Award winning film Nakkash on your favourite OTT Platforms

Mumbai: With successful recognition, Nakkash won awards at various film festivals around the world and is now all set to entice audiences on the digital platforms. Rajshree Films bought the rights of Nakkash and made it available on various OTT platforms including Jio Cinema, Airtel Xstream, VodafoneTV, Shemaroo, etc. Adorned by the performances of veteran actors like Inaamulhaq, Sharib Hashmi, Kumud Mishra, Rajesh Sharma & Pawan Tiwari, the film was released in theaters in 2019, the film made a mark in the box office as well as in the Critics Circle.

In the year 2019, many critics placed Nakkash in the category of Best Film of the Year. Nakkash is directed by journalist-turned-filmmaker Zaigham Imam. The film, produced by Pawan Tiwari, Govind Goyal and Zaigham Imam, was released under the banner of Golden Ratio Films. Nakkash is a story of a Muslim artisan living in Banaras who makes idols in Hindu temples. On one hand, the people of his own community are angry and on the other hand, some fundamentalists are also eyeing him because of his work. This film warns people of present socio-political scenario of India. Nakkash also advocates the Ganga Jamuni Tehzeeb, due to which Hindustan has been tied in the thread of unity for years.

Director Zaigham Imam is very excited by the massive streaming platforms’ release of Nakkash. He says that today’s cinema is in the audience’s palms (mobile phones). So! It is important that the films reach maximum OTT platforms. He hopes that the OTTs audiences also appreciate it as it won the hearts of the audience in theatrical and critical circuits. He also said that the film has been in the news from the beginning of its views in film festivals. Even today, a team of Nakkash is getting messages of praise through various social platforms. Nakkash has touched people’s lives and has created a different understanding of Hindu-Muslim relations. Now through different streaming platforms, this film will reach a new audience; it is also a big success of our cause.

A dialogue of Nakkash got quite viral on social media ‘Who is God?… The brother of Allah’. When asked about this, Zaigham said there can be no differentiation between Allah & any Gods. These are all one and the film shows that it is wrong to hate any human being on the basis of his religion. The lead actor for Nakkash got Best Actor at Washington DC South Asian Film Festival and Indian International Film Festival of Boston, USA in the year 2019. While director Zaigham Imam got the title of the Emerging Filmmaker of the Year at the Singapore South Asian Film Festival, 2018 and the Best Director in 2019 at Indian International Film Festival of Boston, USA.

SRMAP’s liaison with Northeastern University, Boston, USA to encourage impactful education and research

SRM University-AP now has formed a liaison with Northeastern University, Boston, USA, with a vision of mutual endeavours towards the advancement of education and research. A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been signed recently in this regard between the two universities. This is a significant venture to collaborate with top universities such as Northeastern University, which will lead the university to the path of advanced research and educational programmes.

The MoU committee of the SRMAP is working aggressively to bring top universities across the globe for the students to get the benefit and enhance their career. Northeastern University is part of the world’s top 5% of universities, and this collaboration will provide a possibility for our students to visit, learn, and explore from a top reputed university of the USA.

Our students are the primary beneficiaries of this MOU as it provides a platform for them to explore a study abroad programme there, including getting a UG degree from a top-ranked US university. Other beneficiaries include faculty members and scholars, for whom joint research programs could be enabled in the future.

The first MoU that has been signed is a generic MoU that helps SRM University-AP to talk with Northeastern University on the possibilities of collaboration. The following activities are possible with the current MoU that has been signed-
• Mobility of faculty, scholars and students between Institutions
• Joint teaching, research, or cultural activity
• Student services and support
• Professional development programmes for faculty and staff.
• Program based partnerships
• Joint development of ongoing and new curricula and academic projects
• Collaboration in academic publications and other materials of mutual interest

The MoU Committee of the University will further enhance the collaboration with specific departments. The university is already in the process of extending the collaboration to the department level, including Computer Science and Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, to start with. Later, other engineering, science and management streams will be included in the alliance. SRMAP is also exploring opportunities on internships, semester abroad programs and other educational and research activities that will greatly benefit our students.

Surmandal’s Facebook Live Musical Concert by Dhanashri Deshpande

Hyderabad, August 16, 2020…Surmandal, a group of culturally inclined people and music lovers of Hyderabad organised its first virtual live a Classical and Light Music Concert on Facebook by Dhanashri Deshpande on Sunday morning. It was Organisation in association with iAsiaNews, USA.

It was watched by people from across the globe.

According to Mr Mohan Hemmadi. Founder of Surmandal, the concert was organised as part of its Golden Jubilee celebrations.

Speaking at the virtual inaugural, Mr Hemmadi wished for the speedy recovery of the legend singer SP Balasubrahmanyam, who is battling in a hospital in Chennai.

Dhanashri Deshpande started performance With a prayer in rag Ahir Bhairav, a Hindustani Classical Raga, a mixture of Bhairav and the ancient rare raga Ahir for the good health of noted singer SP Balasubrahmanyam. Then she continued her performance with geeth based on the same raga.

Dhanashri Deshpande trained versatile singer who has sung along with stalwarts like Suresh Wadkar, Arun Date, Shridhar Phadke, Suman Kalyanpur, Usha Mangeshkar, Sudhesh Bhosle & many more enthralled her audience right from the go

Accompany by Sushant Barve – Tabla ; Kedar Gokhale – Harmonium, she entertained with her melodious voice.

Just recently she performed in the Netherlands along with Dr Prakash Amte & Mandakini Amte. She also performed in Russia along with Mandhar Udhas some time back. She sings old and new Film songs, Semi-Classical songs, Classical based songs, Bhajans, Sufi and many more genres.

Surmandal was formed in the way back in 1969 and since then it has introduced to this city many luminaries and legends in the cultural space. Mohan Hemmadi through Surmandal has been tirelessly organising many cultural festivals in the city. He brought many legends to this city to perform. Surmandal which is now celebrating Golden Jubilee this year has become synonymous to cultural festivals especially Indian Cultural Festivals.
