Softline Venture Partners fund bought a share in IoT-company T-One Group

LONDON, United Kingdom – April 13, 2021 – Softline Venture Partners, the corporate venture fund of Softline Group, became a co-owner of the Russian JSC T-One Group, which specializes in the creation and development of services based on navigation technologies for consumer and corporate markets. The parties did not disclose the number of shares and the value of the deal.

The key product of T-One Group is its own telematics platform. It is used to create and improve information and navigation systems for two categories of customers. The first one is regional authorities. T-One Group works with them under concessionaire agreements to create and upgrade existing regional information and navigation systems (RINS) to improve the quality of passenger services and to solve logistics problems. RINS systems, based on the platform of the T-One Group, are operated in the Moscow Region, the Omsk Region and a number of other regions.

The second category of customers is private logistic companies. The income from cooperation with them makes up a significant part of the revenue.

“Buying a share in the capital of T-One Group is investing in the rapid growth of the transport telematics market, which is simply inevitable in our country with its immense distances. At the same time, such a mature and efficient product as the T-One Group’s software and hardware platform has good chances to enter foreign markets, where Softline Group is traditionally well positioned. We will be glad to facilitate the export of products and technologies created in Russia to more than 50 countries where Softline operates” – Elena Volotovskaya, head of the Softline Venture Partners fund and vice president for investments at Softline Group.

“In any country in the world, transport infrastructure operators face roughly the same challenges. They include transportation variability, transportation safety and road network connectivity. The platform created by the T-One Group team effectively addresses all these challenges for Russian customers and is ready to offer its services to foreign customers. We will be glad to take part in improving the safety and efficiency of transport infrastructures operated by both individual foreign companies and entire countries” – Sergei Ponomarev, CEO of T-One Group.

MC-Bauchemie Russia Migrates its Corporate Data to Softline Cloud

LONDON, United Kingdom: MC-Bauchemie Russia, a manufacturer of building materials and a developer of technologies for their effective use, has successfully migrated part of its IT-resources to Softline cloud featuring its market-best performance.

After choosing Softline cloud services the customer received financial guarantees of strict compliance with all SLAs, and now they can build a fault-tolerant and cost-effective IT infrastructure.

For more than half a century, MC-Bauchemie has been one of the world’s leading manufacturers of building materials and a developer of technologies for their effective use. Today its subdivisions operate in more than 40 countries and employ about 2,500 professionals. In Russia, MC-Bauchemie’s offices are successfully operating in St. Petersburg, Kirovsk, Ramenskoye, Samara, Krasnodar, and Tyumen.

To cover current business needs in the Russian market the company has already cooperated with a cloud services provider. Over time, the quality of that provider’s services became insufficient given the needs of the business. In an effort to change the situation for the better, the MC-Bauchemie Russia management started thinking about migrating their IT-resources to the cloud of a different provider. At the same time, the crucial need was to ensure the smooth operation of all services and business processes.

Softline, a global provider of IT solutions and services, offered the best option. After detailed analysis of MC-Bauchemie’s Russia needs and after collecting all the relevant information about the current state of the IT infrastructure, the provider’s experts suggested the phased migration of the corporate resources to Softline cloud.

Before starting the project, the MC-Bauchemie Russia management reviewed the solution’s features. The solution uses the certified FlexPod platform based on NetApp storage systems, Cisco switches and processors, and VMware software. The solution allows flexible scaling of resources, reduces capital expenditure on IT infrastructure, and offers an easy way of managing the virtual data center via a web interface. Through its 24/7 technical support, this high-quality, affordable and attractive service is equally popular among large corporate clients and SMEs.

The customer tested the cloud service to verify its functionality. The skilled staff of MC-Bauchemie Russia independently migrated the company’s IT resources to Softline cloud. Using Veeam Cloud Connect software, the customer made the migration process quicker and more secure. The Softline team provided proper answers to all the customer’s questions at all stages of the project’s implementation, they cooperated with MC-Bauchemie’s Russia experts in performing emerging IT tasks, and offered swift responses.

“On the one hand, it is easy to offer a familiar and proven service to the customer. In this case you don’t have to start from scratch. No need of talking about the technical and economic benefits of cloud services since the customer is quite aware of them. On the other hand, any project is always a great responsibility and mobilization of all resources. After all, we have to prove in fact rather than in word that our service is the best on the market, and that our service is the only way to the most efficient resolution of emerging IT tasks. The customer now has no doubt about the high industrial expertise of Softline, and I am sure that we are going to implement many joint projects with MC-Bauchemie Russia in future”, said Vladimir Kalin, Head of Softline Data Center Services Department in the North-West region.

“The consistent transfer of MC-Bauchemie’s Russia IT-resources to Softline cloud was the main task that we had to solve during the project’s implementation. Before choosing a new provider, we carefully studied all the functionality of its solutions and ran thorough tests. In addition, we attended two cloud technology events held by Softline, and these confirmed the high industrial expertise of the company. Softline cloud provides the fault tolerance, stability and performance that we expected before starting this migration. Scaling is quick, and the volume of scaling is sufficient for solving current business tasks”, said Viktor Milyaev, Head of MC-Bauchemie’s Russia IT Department.

Softline Confirmed 99.982 % Availability of Cloud Services

LONDON, United Kingdom: Uptime Institute has yet again certified the data centers hosting Softline cloud as Tier 3.

The combined audit has confirmed the data centers availability at 99.982 %, thus the annual downtime will not exceed 1 hour 35 minutes. Aiming at the best market offering for its customers, Softline both gives transparent SLA based on these high availability figures and provides the financial assurance of strict compliance. With its unique industry expertise, Softline is confident of the quality and reliability of its cloud solutions and services.

Softline is developing its cloud business with success, while also expanding and improving its customer interfaces. Providing corporate clients from various sectors of economy with proprietary cloud services that can solve almost any IT problem, the company arranges each project to be accompanied with a service level agreement, SLA. The SLA terms are unique to the Russian high-tech market. The maximum potential downtime of the data center infrastructure is 1 hour 35 minutes per year, which corresponds to the availability index of 99.982 %. In addition, Softline provides the market-best financial assurance for strict compliance with all SLAs. This approach helps the company to provide the fullest satisfaction for the customers who need a resilient and cost-effective IT infrastructure.

Broad capabilities of SLAs result from the top industry expertise of Softline, unreachable for its competitors. Today, Softline cloud offers the best performance in the market. The solution is built on the certified FlexPod platform based on server and network equipment from Cisco, Dell, HP, NetApp storage systems, and VMware software. The cloud is an ideal fit for hosting application servers and databases, creating the test and development environments, simplifying the distributed infrastructure management systems, and implementing high-load web projects.

Softline cloud is based on Tier 3 data centers, including Ixcellerate Moscow One and DataLine datacenters. In addition to the redundancy of critical nodes, the Tier 3 standard means that service and maintenance can be performed without disruptions to the process equipment. According to the results of an audit recently conducted by Uptime Institute, all data centers hosting Softline hardware have confirmed compliance with Tier 3 with the availability at 99.982 %. These are the values used by Softline in its SLAs. The company has a skilled team for each software and hardware item for fast response to any customer requests within the framework of this agreement.

Softline offers its customers the geo-distributed cloud deployed based on two data centers in Moscow and four more data centers distributed in other regions. In this case, the IT infrastructure will be mirrored on two sites. If one data center fails, the infrastructure will still be functional at another site. With this approach the SLA can reach the index of 99.99999 %.

The geo-distributed cloud will be an ideal choice for companies specializing in e-commerce, streaming services, communication services, etc. For example, to arrange the uninterrupted operation of several systems, “Sim Telecom” mobile operator had to deploy the Active-Active replication requiring two data centers. The purpose of the second data center was to provide fault tolerance for those business processes which do not require the Active-Active cluster, but need the switchover time to a backup site within 30 minutes. “Sim Telecom” asked Softline to help solving this problem. With the help of the company’s experts, the customer got capacities in two data centers at once, thus arranging an extended cluster. Projects like this are technically sophisticated and unique to the Russian cloud market. Their successful implementation highlights the long-term industry experience of Softline, attractive terms of cooperation and high service quality.

“Today Softline is the obvious leader in the Russian cloud services market. None of our competitors can offer the expertise that we have accrued over the years of hard work. Close cooperation with vendors, our team of experts for each software and hardware item, our products and services that make a difference in terms of cost, quality and functionality — all these factors mean that we can offer exclusive SLA terms for our customers. Besides, we are financially responsible for the availability and reliability of our cloud services to each customer. And that’s our unique advantage,” says Boris Shoykhet, Head of the Cloud Solutions at Softline Cloud Technologies Department, about the company’s approach to SLAs.

The forced transition to distance working has changed companies’ approaches to IT consumption

LONDON, United Kingdom: According to Softline experts, the experience gained during the emergency transition to home-office work will remarkably accelerate the development of the cloud market and the IT services market in general. In countries with low cloud penetration, the restrictive measures have created a steady trend of transition to the cloud, and it is not a temporary solution, but a new business framework. In particular, Softline forecasts annual business growth in the cloud segment that is ahead of plan. The services and software for teamwork and remote access security also continue to demonstrate high growth rates.

‘Softline annually increases its cloud segment volume by 50% on average. In two quarters of 2020, we doubled our performance indicators as compared to last year. Due to a large influx of new customers, and the changing needs of existing customers, we have had to increase the capacity of our existing data centres ahead of schedule, and this is taking into account the fact that we were already preparing for a growth in requests,’ Yuri Novikov, Head of Cloud Business Development at Softline, says.

‘In countries where increasingly stringent measures have been taken against the background of a sharp increase in COVID-19 incidences, the demand for Microsoft services is growing. In some European countries, Latin America, India and Russia, there has been explosive growth in the use of Microsoft collaboration tools, primarily Teams, cloud storage and Microsoft Remote Workplace tools in general. In the first quarter, Microsoft sales increased by 30 per cent due to demand for cloud solutions. In the second half of the year, we also observed a significant growth. In September 2020, Softline received Microsoft’s expanded specialisation in digital transformation and change management – Adoption and Change Management Advanced Specialisation (ACM). Today we are able to significantly transform the customer’s business processes within three to four months, to increase the efficiency of communication and collaboration within the company,’ says Andrey Blagorazumov, Director of Microsoft Business at Softline.

Predominantly, new customers have increased the demand for computing capacity rental, virtual workstation services and Virtual Office. Globally, we have noticed an increase in the consumption of existing online subscriptions and investment in platforms that are already being used by customers, against the background of increased load on online tools.

‘When it comes to existing Softline customers, they have now been able to fully experience the benefits of cloud services, especially cloud infrastructure flexibility. In Latin America, quarantine has dealt a severe blow to the economy, and some companies are still in crisis. Those companies that have transferred infrastructure services to Softline in the private cloud format have been able to save on existing infrastructure operating costs. A small share of our clients (no more than 5%) suspended their work for the period of quarantine measures and reduced capacity consumption while maintaining their infrastructure ready for operation. We preserved those partnerships, and as soon as they decided to resume their activities, we were able to do it without time and data losses,’ Yuri Novikov adds.

There is still an increased demand for software and services to connect to remote workstations and teamwork. According to Softline, the use of Microsoft Teams in March has quadrupled as compared to February, and it is expected that this dynamic will continue in the coming months. The number of orders for remote workstation, Windows Remote Desktop, as well as other popular applications, Google Workspace, Slack and Zoom, has changed in similar way.

‘It should be noted that under the new conditions, the terms of decision-making on the part of the customer have been significantly reduced. If previously it might take several weeks from the moment the application was submitted to the moment the transaction was completed, now customers expect rapid implementation: just a few days of testing are enough to finally decide on the product and move on to implementation,’ says Alexander Ivlev, Head of Cloud Solutions at Softline.
