“Playing the character of Yeshu’s father Joseph is an honour”, says AaryaDharamchand

Arya Dharamchand the telly-actor who hails from Jammu is all set to portray Joseph in &TV’s latest offering ‘Yeshu’. In a candid conversation, Arya expresses his joy of making a comeback and eagerness.

  1. You were on a short break before Yeshu. What made you think that the show will be a good comeback for you?
I would call this a fair comeback, as the last show I did was around four years ago. I even did a web-series which is yet to be released, as for the television industry, I looked hard and long but couldn’t find anything of my interest. I was lucky enough that 2020 gave me Yeshu at such an amazing time, this role seems heavy with an intensity to it. I am looking forward to my fans seeing my on-screen after a long time.
  2. What is the role you are playing? How satisfied are you with the character?
I am playing the role of Joseph, Yeshu’s father who is assigned the duty of protecting his family. He is famously known to have been venerated as a saint. This role is therefore of critical significance and has set a high benchmark for me. I hope to do justice to the role. I am extremely happy with this role, I couldn’t have asked for a better one! Playing Yeshu’s father is an honour for me, I am highly obliged that the makers of the show believed in my calibre and saw me fit to essay the role. I have already started reading up on Joseph to fully understand his position and I am looking forward to seeing how the character shall be developed in the show.
  3. How did you bag this role? Any special preparations you are undergoing to get into the character?
The auditions for Yeshu was an unusual one, I recorded it over my phone and sent it to the production through WhatsApp. Technology has really played a big role in the way things are carried out now, so it was truly a novel experience. Yes, definitely I am preparing, I am currently reading up on the life of St. Joseph to learn more about the character that I shall be encompassing in order to incorporate a few elements of human emotions and behaviour.
  4. What exactly is the storyline? What are your expectations from the show and the viewers?
‘Yeshu’ is a story of an exceptionally benevolent child who only wants to do good and spread happiness all around him. His love and compassion for all is a stark contrast to the dark, evil forces prevalent during his birth and childhood. Witnessing the various atrocities on his family and in society has a deep impact on him. His attempt to help others and ease their pain often leads to situations where he inevitably ends up being hurt and condemned, by not just the oppressors, but also the people at large. But even that doesn’t stop Yeshufrom continuing on his path. It is not only the most iconic story of good versus evil, but it also captures the beautiful relationship between Yeshu and his support and guide – his mother.  Yeshu is an untold and unheard story, first time seen in the Hindi GEC space. I am looking forward to work with the stellar cast of the show. I am sure the show will strike a chord with the audience and will receive acceptance and appreciation. We all are very excited and looking forward to our viewers’ reaction.

On Samvidhan Divas, &TV Actors, Neha Joshi, and Jagganath Nivangune remember the Father of the Indian Constitution – Dr B.R. Ambedkar

Every year, the nation celebrates 26th November to commemorate the adoption of ‘The Constitution of India’. On 26th November 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India adopted the Constitution of India, and it came into effect on 26th January 1950. On Samvidhan Diwas this year, lead artists from &TV’s show, Ek Mahanayak Dr B.R. Ambedkar, Bhimabai (Neha Joshi) and Ramji Sakpal (Jagannath Nivangune) remember the chief architect of the Indian Constitution, Dr B.R. Ambedkar, and speak about his immense contribution to the society.

Says Jagannath Nivangune, “Dr B.R. Ambedkar is considered as the Father of the Indian Constitution. His reputation as a scholar-led him to become India’s first law minister and subsequently, the Chairman of the committee for drafting the Constitution on 29th August 1947. As the architect of the Indian Constitution, Dr B.R. Ambedkar was a leader par excellence and whose legacy is unparalleled. He believed that the only way India could foster national unity and stability was through instating a unified code of One Nation One Constitution. On our Samvidhan Diwas, let us remember all his greatest works and contribution to our society.”

Adding to this, Neha Joshi states, “Dr B.R Ambedkar, was the first leader to lead the Women Rights Movement. He was one of the most prominent voice for women empowerment. Through the Hindu Marriage Act, Hindu Succession, Guardianship Act, and the Hindu Code Bill, he gave a voice to the women community in fighting for their rights and encouraged them to stand shoulder to shoulder with the men. Dr B.R. Ambedkar laid the foundation of a unified India by bringing millions of Indians under the ambit of one nation and one Constitution. His teachings and philosophy still resonate with the Indians across the country, even today. And what better day to remember Dr Ambedkar and his immense contribution in shaping the Indian Constitution than our Samvidhan Day.”

&TV’s Ek Mahanayak – Dr B.R. Ambedkar is an inspirational story of Babasaheb and his journey from the tender of five, to him becoming the prime architect of the Indian Constitution. Produced by Smruti Sushilkumar Shinde’s SOBO Films, the show airs on &TV at 8:30 pm, every Monday to Friday.

All hell breaks loose on Happu as he is reprimanded by Rajesh (Kamna Pathak) and Katori Amma (Himani Shivpuri) who order him to leave the house immediately. With nowhere to go, Happu devices a plan and asks Manohar to impersonate Sunita. Chaos arise when parallelly, the commissioner, stuck in a comparable situation, overhears Happu’s conversation and disguises as Sunita to seek shelter in Happu’s home. Interestingly, the real Sunita too lands up and manages to settle the confusion and chaos. In line with the spirit of Khushiyon Ka Ek Diya Jalao, the entire family decides to leave the differences behind and break into joyous Diwali celebrations.”

Aasif Sheikh shares, “Vibhuti is relishing the Laddoos made by Angoori Bhabi (Shubhangi Atre) when Prem informs him about a big Laddoos order for Diwali from Singhania Steel Company’s owner. Vibuti suggests Angoori’s name, but to persuade her, he will have first to convince Tiwari (Rohitashv Gour). Finally, both Tiwari and Angoori agree. While everyone is in a celebratory mood, Prem finds out that Mr Singhania has gone bankrupt, but does not disclose this to anyone.

Angoori and Tiwari are ready with the order, and that is when Vibhuti bumps into a beggar claiming to be Mr Singhania, leaving him shocked. Before he can inform anyone, Angoori and others find out, and Vibuti is reprimanded. As fate would have it, Mr Singhania regains his position and power and offers to buy Laddoos from Angoori at the double the market rate, much to everyone’s surprise and delight. The entire Modern Colony breaks into a big Diwali celebratory mode.”

Sarika Bahroliya comments, “This Diwali, there is Double Dhamaka in Gupta’s family! As the celebrations are in full force, the whole family gets flabbergasted and mystified seeing Gudiya in a different gipsy Avatar. But soon realise that it is not Gudiya but her doppelganger, Jhumri a gipsy, who is blunt, ill-mannered, and rude because she has seen a lot of struggle and has had a harsh life. She bullies everyone, and the family decides to let her stay, on Gudiya’s insistence. She does not like Gudiya and even tries to entice Guddu (Karam Rajpal) posing as Gudiya but fails.

A boy comes to see Gudiya but is left confused, seeing not one but two Gudiyas! To put an end to this, Gudiya proposes a role reversal and steps out of the house in the guise of Jhumri. Seeing how the entire family talks good about her even though she was always rude, Jhumri gets emotional and has a change of heart. She ends up divulging the exchange story to everyone, and the family goes to get back their own Laadli Gudiya. The plot gives out a strong message of how the goodness, kindness, and positiveness of Gudiya transforms Jhumri into becoming kind and warm with a realisation of seeing the good in people.”

The least we can do is celebrate and enjoy these moments together. We will use the fasting time to play board games, read a book together and even decorate the thali together and listen to the Katha in the evening.”Radhe (Ravi Mahashabde) adds, “I was thinking of doing something different for my wife this year and thought how about fasting with her! This way, we both can enjoy and support each other.

It always pained me to see her fasting alone all day long and me binging on food. She was quite amused, but her smile was priceless when I told her. We will use this fasting time to do things together, watching a movie or a show, cooking dinner, listening to the Katha in the evening and eagerly wait for the moon to rise to break our fast together.” Pappu (Manmohan Tiwari) says, “On Karva Chauth, I have always fasted with my wife, and this year will be no different. We both thoroughly celebrate and enjoy it together.

We tease each other by talking about each other’s favourite food to see who gets hungry first. We also cook meals together, indulge in completing household chores and watching our favourite shows. In the evenings, after Katha, we usually listen to music or even play antakshari to keep our mind diverted from food (laughs). My wife keeps sending me out to check if the moon has risen. And once it does, we all run to the terrace with our sieve, thali and Kalash. It brings in so much happiness and joy to everything together.”
