Women’s Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WICCI) Announces Nita Menezes as National President, Financial Literacy and Management Council (FLM)

Women’s Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WICCI) has announced the launch of a Financial Literacy and Management Council (FLMC) under the leadership of Ms. Nita Menezes, Founder and CEO of Financially Smart &MoneyPrastha.
Ms. Nita Menezes will lead the council as the National President. She will be assisted by her National Vice President Ms. Bharti Athray, her National Council Members and State Heads spread across the country. The Council is established with a mission to spread financial literacy amongst women and empower them to make financial decisions.
Nita brings over 3 decades of experience in diverse fields as a financial mentor and coach. She is passionate about financial literacy and is on a mission to make the complex- “Simple”, empowering 1 million individuals, especially women globally to make smart financial choices.
Nita Menezes commenting on the launch of the WICCI Financial Literacy and Management Council said, “When it comes to global financial literacy, 70% of women are illiterate compared with 65% of men. In India, the gap is wider, with 80% of women compared with 73% men, according to the Standard & Poor’s Ratings Services Global Financial Literacy Survey 2015.These Statistics were an eye-opener.
Over the years, women have made awesome progress in various economic aspects. However, they still trail men when it comes to financial literacy.
Financial literacy is the combination of financial awareness, knowledge, attitude, skills, behaviour and tools which are necessary to make sound and informed financial decisions.Be it an emergency, unforeseen circumstances or unfortunate events, financial literacy is the key ingredient that helps any individual build your life on your terms.I truly believe that if we want to build an equitable world where everyone has the freedom to dream, work and feel financially secure then we all need to have more money conversations and ensure we have financial literacy from the grass root level which is children and women. That’s why I decided to start the Financial Literacy and Management Council.”
Though we have progressed towards a modern society, and budgeting &money management comes naturally to women, they shy away from making financial decisions due to lack of sufficient financial knowledge. Further, the lack of financial literacy is not restricted to rural women. Urban women earning good salaries also lack financial literacy and depend on their fathers or husbands for investment decisions. Thus, it is crucial for women to start educating themselves about savings, investments, and financial planning.
The Council aims to fulfil its mission by
1. Improving the financial wellness of women through communities.
2. Introducing financial literacy as a curriculum in schools.

The key focus areas of the council will be to
1. Host local and national events, upskilling online and offline workshops, and seminarsto empowerwomen to take independent financial decisions for themselves, their businesses and families.
2. Build networking platforms for women to empower peer to peer learning and manage their finances better;
3. Mentoring women entrepreneurs and professionals to lead financial conversations in their organisations.
4. Support the government’s initiative of making Indian women and youth to be truly “AtmaNirbhar”.

India’s largest commodity brokers’ association CPAI renews communications mandate with PROSE Integrated

National: Commodity Participants Association of India (CPAI), the pan-India body of national commodity exchanges and commodities participants, has renewed its communications, public relations (PR) and social media mandate with PROSE Integrated.

This is the second year in a row that PROSE Integrated has won the CPAI account, which is India’s largest association of brokers trading on SEBI-regulated commodity exchanges such as MCX, NCDEX, ICEX, among others. The Corporate & Financial Services division of PROSE specialises in catering to the integrated communication needs of a diverse clientele base, including financial intermediaries, stock brokers, exchanges, trade associations and other stakeholders of the banking and financial services industry (BFSI).

Formed in 2006, CPAI is the only registered All-India association of all national Commodity Exchange and comprises of over 1000 number of Commodities Participants across 1500 cities. The mission of CPAI members and office bearers is to work towards the upliftment, growth and overall development of India’s commodity markets.

The unflagging efforts put in by CPAI members is contributing to the robust growth of the Indian commodity markets, as is evident from the steady year-on-year increase in average daily turnover (ADT) on exchanges. As per available data, Average Daily Turnover of Indian Commodity Futures Market has leapfrogged from around Rs 17,042  crore in 2008-09 to Rs 34, 491 crore in 2019-20.

Elaborating on CPAI’s mandate to PROSE, Mr. Narinder Wadhwa , National President, CPAI, said, “Over the past year, Team PROSE has successfully delivered on our brief to come up with out-of-the-box solutions and leverage relationships to gain higher visibility for CPAI, besides helping us to tide over many challenges. We believe, their domain expertise will be an invaluable asset going forward, especially during the current times of COVID-19 pandemic when most forms of communications have transformed to digital. With their understanding of the new-age internet and social media platforms, we are confident of achieving our objectives for 2021 to upgrade our digital touch points.”

Speaking about the account win, Ms. Shirley D’Silva, Head of Corporate & Financial services division at PROSE Integrated, said: “Any commodity or stock market stakeholder account like CPAI’s is a niche area for communications and PR servicing. It requires the domain expertise on the workings of the financial markets and a deep understanding of the regulatory framework encompassing Ministry of Finance, RBI, SEBI and APMC markets, which have under their purview thousands of small brokers and large global intermediaries. We specialise in this niche expertise, which is the reason for CPAI reposing its faith on us and assigning their communications mandate again.“

Ms. D’Silva added that CPAI being a not-for-profit organisation, handling the account was a great learning experience for the Team PROSE to get maximum impact within limited resources.

National Real Estate Developement Council (NAREDCO) Signs MOU With CII’s Indian Green Building Council

National Real Estate Development Council (NAREDCO) has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), on 7th October 2020 through Video Conferencing to facilitate India’s growth as a global leader in green buildings and green built environment. IGBC is a part of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). The council holistically evaluates how a green building is and accordingly rates the builder either as IGBC Platinum/ Gold / Silver certified.  IGBC through its multi-pronged strategy has facilitated India to emerge as the second-largest country in terms of the largest green footprint.

The MoU was signed by Mr Rajesh Goel, Director General, NAREDCO and Mr K S Venkatagiri, Executive Director, CII – Sohrabji Godrej Green Business Centre, in the presence of Dr Niranjan Hiranandani, National President, NAREDCO, Mr V Suresh, Chairman, IGBC, Mr Ranjan N Bandelkar, Vice President–West, NAREDCO, and Mr Gurmit Singh Arora, Vice-Chair, IGBC.

Commenting on the new development Dr Niranjan Hiranandani, National President, NAREDCO said “The objective of the MoU is to exchange information on the latest developments in our respective fields that are of common interest such as information on green buildings, sustainable construction techniques and green materials and jointly work, in particular, to benefit the Real Estate Sector. Both parties will jointly focus on five major states in India, that is, Haryana, Rajasthan, Telangana, Karnataka and Odisha to carry out green building projects and demonstrate tangible benefits.”

Speaking on the association, Mr V Suresh, Chairman, IGBC said “NAREDCO’s service to the nation in building habitats of all forms is unparalleled. India has been a global leader in the green buildings’ movement over the last two decades, with over 7.61 billion sq.ft. of green footprint, spanning buildings of all asset classes of the built environment.

The contribution of developers on the green journey has been phenomenal. This formal engagement with NAREDCO will help advance the National Green Building Movement.”

It is also worth mentioning that there will also be a synergy between NAREDCO and IGBC local chapters. IGBC would seek the support of the NAREDCO members in all its local chapters and work closely with stakeholders in the region/ state in taking forward the green building movement.

Furthermore, the MoU emphasised the need for introducing green aspects in Affordable housing. IGBC and NAREDCO will jointly work with the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs (MoHUA) and other relevant ministries and departments to promote Green Affordable Housing in the country.

To help build capacity, IGBC would also be organising training programmes and awareness sessions in various cities, exclusively for NAREDCO members.

As per the MoU NAREDCO will take the lead and IGBC would extend all support. A task force will be formed to drive this joint initiative. Also, the National President of NAREDCO would be the Ex-Officio member of IGBC Executive / Advisory Board.

This MoU has been signed for a period of five years and can be extended basis the mutual consent of both the parties.
