Magenta in collaboration with Central Railways inaugurates Public EV Charging Station along Parel, Dadar and Byculla Railway Stations

Magenta, the fastest growing Indian Charge Point Operator (CPO) company in collaboration with Central Railways inaugurated a Public EV charging station along with the Parel Railway Station. The charging station was inaugurated by Shri. Subhash Desai, Hon. Minister of Industry and Mining. Over the next two weeks, Magenta shall also set up the EV charging station along with the Dadar and Byculla Railway stations.

The first of its kind public charging station will be functional 24*7 initially with the unique Made in India Streetlamp Integrated EV Charging Stations (ChargeGrid FLARE) and subsequently with DC Fast chargers. This combination of AC and DC chargers will support 2-wheelers, 3-wheelers and 4-wheelers. These chargers can be operated through the ChargeGrid App with online remote monitoring which includes an automated payment gateway, thereby eliminating the need of having a station marshal to monitor, maintain & operate the chargers at the location.

Magenta is currently installing 4500 chargers across 108 cities in India (2950 chargers under the FAME-2 scheme along REIL; more than 1200 chargers along with Petrol stations such as HPCL and others; 82 at FERN Hotels; Residential chargers in collaboration with Government of Delhi; Residential chargers at Bengaluru Apartment Federation). This will support the government initiative of setting up 400,000 charging stations to meet the requirement for two million Electric Vehicles (EV) that could potentially ply on its roads by 2026.

The Fern Hotels & Resorts partners with Magenta for deploying EV charging facilities across all properties

The Fern Hotels & Resorts, India’s leading environmentally sensitive hotel chain has tied up with Magenta, the fastest growing Indian Charge Point Operator (CPO) company, to Install Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (EVCS) across all its properties in the country. Three of the company’s hotels in Lonavala, Karad and Bengaluru have already installed the EVCS. The Fern Hotels & Resorts is amongst the fastest-growing hotel brands in India. Magenta shall install, operate and manage DC fast chargers at over 84 Fern Hotels & resorts, spread across 69 locations in India.

Speaking on the tie-up Mr Suhail Kannampilly, CEO, The Fern Hotels & Resort said, “Offering EV charging facility to our customers fits well with Fern’s commitment to promoting environment-friendly options at the facilities for various customer segments. We are proud to partner with Magenta to install, operate and maintain DC fast chargers at all the Fern properties. By providing EV charging solutions, The Fern will be future-ready and will be able to attract multiple EV vehicle users at their properties”

Welcoming the partnership, Mr Maxson Lewis, the MD of Magenta said, “We are delighted to partner with an environment-sensitive hotel company like The Fern Hotels & Resorts. We will be providing all the necessary infrastructural support. EV charging facility for customers is becoming a huge value addition for hotels on highways and cities. The customers utilizing EV charging solutions will also lead to more sales for hotels through the Food & Beverages category during their stay. These charging solutions are mobile application enabled (OCCP based) and come with numerous other customer-friendly features. These chargers can be located by EV users using the ChargeGrid application. ChargeGrid app provides a seamless experience from finding a charger to completing a charging session with online payment.

Hotel chains embracing the EV charging infrastructure will attract tomorrow’s guests ahead of time. Providing an EV charging facility will also present a great chance to build loyalty with EV customers for hotel chains. A typical DC fast EV charging session lasts for around 45 to 60 minutes, which is also sufficient time for customers to have their meals during breaks at hotels while on highways. Overall, this move will encourage & support EV Vehicle adoption, thus further helping reduce the overall carbon footprint of the hotel’s chain.

Magenta signs MoU with the Government of Tamil Nadu to invest over Rs. 250 crores to set up an EV manufacturing plant

Magenta, a leading Indian Charge Point Operator (CPO) company, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the State Government of Tamil Nadu to invest in building the EV charging infrastructure in the state. Maxson Lewis, CEO and MD, Magenta, signed the MoU in the presence of the Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru. M.K. Stalin at the Tamil Nadu Investment Conclave 2021 held in Coimbatore.

Under this agreement, Magenta will invest close to Rs. 250 crores & set up a manufacturing unit focused on the design, product development and architecture standards for EV technologies in the e-mobility space. The investment will be mainly for the R&D, manufacturing all cutting-edge technologies and a broader set of choices in the e-mobility segment. The move emphasizes Magenta’s commitment to electrification and development for EV solutions.

With the new manufacturing plant plans in TN, Magenta will provide job opportunities to local communities within the region and create around 500 jobs in the next two years in Tamil Nadu. Furthermore, over 1600 employees will be trained in EV charger manufacturing, assembly, installation and operations over the next five years. The facility aims to create a robust supply-chain ecosystem in and around the region & make Tamil Nadu EV ready.
