Royal Sundaram Partners with IRCTC for High-Volume Insurance Issuance

CHENNAI, India, June 24, 2024 — INSILLION, a leading Insurtech SaaS platform, has announced a significant partnership that will transform the way travel insurance is delivered. Royal Sundaram General Insurance (RSGI), a prominent Property & Casualty insurer based in India, has integrated with the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) to enable embedded Group Personal Accident (GPA) policies to be offered alongside e-ticket purchases through INSILLION’s API platform.

IRCTC is a public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Railways in India and operates one of the largest travel websites in the Asia-Pacific region. It has over 12 million unique visitors per month, making it one of India’s most visited websites. In a notable achievement, during a high-traffic day, RSGI has issued 6,40,000 policies covering over 1.4 million passengers, with a peak hourly rate of 30 policies per second during the Tatkal rush period.

To meet the stringent requirements of a highly scalable solution, RSGI partnered with INSILLION to rapidly launch an embedded insurance offering leveraging their API platform and cloud architecture.

Sai Lakshmidar, Chief Product Officer at INSILLION, highlighted the technical complexity, stating, “To deliver a seamless user experience, the underlying technology architecture must be robust. Scaling to meet extreme demand was the crucial challenge that required rethinking our entire approach. Enabling this integration with RSGI was an invaluable learning experience in optimising for high-availability through Amazon Web Services Cloud to embed fixed-benefit products.”

Dheepak Rajoo, Chief Information Officer at RSGI, summed it up perfectly. He said, “Our collaboration with INSILLION allowed us to successfully implement a highly scalable solution with minimal investment, empowering us to capitalise on the embedded insurance opportunity through the IRCTC portal.”

And IRCTC has announced some amazing packages to attract tourist who wants to visit the mountain this summer these packages are:

1. Kashmir from Indore

The first package announced by the IRCTC is the dream travel destination of all tourists the OG Kashmir. The travel package “Jannat -E-Kashmir” is from Indore. Tourists can stay 5 to 6 days’ vacation and in this duration, you can visit Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Sonmarg. And the trip is starting from April 22 to June 6, the package is 47,800 onwards for each person.

2. Kahmir from Chennai

The 2nd package is also for the ultimate travel destination Kashmir, from Chennai to Kashmir those people who want to visit the hilly mountain this summer can book the tickets. It is a stay of 11 to 12 days and the package starts from 44,000 per person. The places to be covered are Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam, and Sonmarg and the journey begins on April 25.

3. Ladakh

Everyone who loves hilly areas or mountains has always wanted to visit Ladakh even for once if Ladakh is on your bucket list then just mark the tick because IRCTC offers the package of “Discover Ladakh- with IRCTC”. It is a stay of 6 to 7 days. And you can visit many places you want and the package of this price is 54,400 onwards for a person. The departure date is not just a date you can go whenever you want between these days – April 27, May 4, May 8, May 11, May 18, May 20, and May 25.

4. Leh

Enjoy this unbeatable heat of summer in Leh, fly to Leh and enjoy this summer. IRCTC declared a package called “Leh-with-Turtuk” where you can visit and spend memorable moments in the path of Leh, Sham Valley, Nubra, Pangong and Turtuk. The stay is 6 to 7 days & departure for this tour is from May 25, and the travel package price is for 60,200 onwards for each person.
