It was a hybrid event—in person and online.(Zoom and streamed live on Facebook ). Five hundred people participated in the celebrations.

Theme for the celebration was the United Nations theme ‘Choose to Challenge’.

Chief National Badminton Coach Mr. Pullela Gopichand was the Chief Guest and Indian Badminton Player Ms. Mansi Joshi, Guest of Honour at the celebrations.

There is no world without women. So be joyful all through the month and year said Mr VC Sajjanar, Commissioner of Police while addressing the gathering.

Lot of people talk about women empowerment but Pullela Gopichand has put it in practice, said Mr VC Sajjanar.

The theme being “choose to challenge”, my challenge as Commissioner of Police is to see that women work in all the verticals of Police in Cyberabad Commissionerate.

Gender Equality is under-rated. Our culture taught us to respect women. And that has ingrained us from our childhood said Pullela Gopichand.

My wife feels secured to travel back from the airport to home thanks to the She Team. So also my 18 year old daughter and many athletes at our academy, Gopichand said.

Best performers so far in sporting world like in Badminton have been women. Good about them is that if they decide, they give their 100%, Gopichand concluded his address.

Vinay Agarwal of Tech Mahindra asked the participants to give a standing ovation to all the women in our lives. And said that we come from such a culture where women are respected. We don’t have to prove to the world how we treat our women.

We had a woman president when the most developed countries in the world still can’t boast of, he said.

Pullela Gopichand launched a Safety e learning module in order to create awareness about women safety. Nearly 4 lakh out of 10 lakh IT force work in Cyberabad are women. So this 20 minute digital module is the answer. It is very important. It is launched in 3 languages—Hindi, English and Telugu, said Krishna Yedula. We want to reach out to all employees to achieve a holistic approach in our efforts, he said.

Manasi Joshi, a para-badminton player, the current World Champion and a changemaker who was the guest of honour said that in her hour of crisis she used better balancing skills she learned through the sport, badminton.

She shared her struggle and how she bounced back after her injury and subsequent success as a Para Badminton Player.

Womanhood itself is a celebration. There is no need to celebrate it on one particular day, she observed. I don’t mind being a nth (meaning last player) player, as long as more play the sport and more toe the line which nobody has achieved.

I challenged myself so here I am as DCP. You need to choose what to challenge. Life is full of challenges. The women’s day came into existence when few women challenged themselves to fight for their rights, said Mrs. Anasuya.

Views of a cross section of distinguished corporate executives on subjects such women, their safety, gender equality; women day celebration etc was screened.

If you want to see women empowered, their safety is key, said Pratyusha Sharma.

Educating, empowering and enabling are the three key areas we focus on she added for women safety .

2.5 lakh women were trained under various initiatives of SCSC with regard to women safety. There is a long way to go as there is a ten lakh workforce in the IT industry, she added.

Swapna, a survivor of Domestic Violence in her video message said marriage is just part of life. If it works fine, if not also, still fine. There is so much life beyond it. She narrated her struggle. So also a Malayalee woman who married a Telugu man in her audio message played recalled how various initiatives of SCSC and police helped her unite with her son and wage boldly her battle.

SCSC announced the launch of the Game Based Challenge on the eve of women’s day.

Many women achievers such as Kalpana Ramesh, Shravani, Thunki Lavanya and others were honoured with awards

Many contest winners were presented awards.

Cyberabad Police nabbed 10 Cyber Fraudsters, said to have cheated gullible people to the extent of INR 2crore

Hyderabad: Cyberabad Police achieved a breakthrough, busted a big gift scam, involved by well over 15 fraudsters hailing from Bihar, MP and Telangana.

Announcing this at a Press Conference held at Cyberabad Police Commissionerate office at Cyberabad, Mr VC Sajjanar, Police Commissioner claimed it to be a breakthrough as it involves local people’s link unlike before.

We have arrested 10 Cyber Fraudsters out of 15. The five are elusive. Our force is hopeful of nabbing the other, he added

What is so strange is that it is for the first time the fraudsters involved five Telugu speaking youth from Mancherial as tele-callers to add more native touch to gain more victims’ trust. They have also pressed into the service of people who speak native/local languages such as Tamil, Kannada, Hindi and other languages.

These Telugu speaking telecallers, A-11 to 15 include Manchinella Venkatesh; Gurramguda Rakesh; Elkaturi Prashanth, SuramRajender Reddy and Lingampally.

Though the number of victims is unknown, according to Mr Sajjanar, Police Commissioner of Cyberabad Police, the fraudsters are said to have cheated to the extent of Rs 2 crore.More details will emerge as probe deep into the subject, he said.

The Cyberabad Police under the leadership of Cyber Crimes ACP, Balakrishna Reddy; S. Venkat Reddy, Inspector of Police; K Vijay Vardhan, Sun-Inspector of Police seized 42 mobile phones, two laptops, 18 bundles of envelopes comprised of Naaptol Letters along with Scratch Cards, 28 Debit Cards, 10 Aadhar Cards and 2 rubber stamps.

The gangsters operated 53 bank accounts.

Police acted on the complaint from a victim registered on 11th August 2020. He got a call from Karthik, posing himself from the Herbal Care Group. Consequently, he received a letter by post which contained a scratch card. On rubbing it he found that he won a TATA Safari Car worth Rs 15 lakh. Follow up to it came another call expressing inability in shipping the car due to COVID and instead they offered to deposit the money. To receive the prize money the victim was told by the caller Arun Verma that he would need to pay TDS, GST and Conversion Fee to avail Cash. And demanded to deposit INR 45,150/-. They also shared two bank account details. Accordingly, the victim paid a sum of Rs 22,779/- through SBI Bank and another Rs 72,680/- to another SBI Account of Ashish Kumar and Jayant Kumar Lanka respectively. On the whole, the victim paid Rs 95,459/- in two instalments on 20th August.

Then the victim got repeated calls from them demanding to deposit money under different heads. That is when the victim realised that he was cheated and requested police to probe and take action. A case was registered under Section 417, 419, 420 IPC Sec 66C & D of IT Act in the Cyber Crime Police Station under Cyberabad limits.

The Modus operandi was simple. The fraudsters collected data from different sources such as Herbal Care Group; Naaptol and shopclues.com.

The data thus procured had only addresses and didn’t have mobile numbers. That is why they used to post(snail mail) informing their targets of their lucky prize. The letter provided a mobile number to which they needed to respond to.

Initially, they asked victims to pay just 1% tax amount as confirmation and acceptance of the offer. Then they started demanding under various heads such as 3% tax towards vehicle registration; 5% towards the delivery of the vehicle; 12% towards GST and 15% towards security deposit which was refundable.

They have set up two call centres in Jharkhand

The kingpin of the gang was Tarun Kumar alias Amit, a resident of Nawada District of Bihar. He was assisted by Prabhakar Kumar Sinha alias Mohit from Ranchi. He was in charge of the Call Center. He also monitored the data, prepared letters of Naaptol, Herbal Care Group and scratch cards. The same data was shared with tele-callers.

A-3 Kamlesh Dubey, a friend of Yashwanth Thakur, A-9 was coordinating with banks. A-4 and 5, Alok and Tiranju, both absconding, are natives of Bihar. Their job was to procure the database from various sources. A-6 Bajrangi, elusive, liaised with the bank and mastermind Tarun and used to pocket commission due to him. Kotresh and Sunil, still at large ran call centres located at Chuntia and Ranchi in Jharkhand. Yashwanth Thakur and Sourabh Patel, friends of A-3, arranged nearly 25 bank accounts to dupe the customers.

Speaking to the media Mr Sajjanar advised people to use common sense and not fall prey to such things. Do not believe in any Gift or Scratch Scams. No e-commerce company ever sends such mails, he said. He also advised people not to trust bulk SMSes being sent currently.

Money doesn’t come so easily. So don’t fall pray for easy money or lottery prizes.

The ACP Cyber Crimes Balakrishna Reddy asked the public to cross-check such offers either with the police or the e-commerce company’s official phone number.

Mr Sajjanar appreciated the police N. Vinayak, ASI; Constables N. Rajkumar, G.Krupakar Reddy, D. Shekhar, S. Shivakumar, Suraj Singh, M. Mahesh, M. Mahesh Goud, P. Anil, MD Arshad, S. Anandan, J. Mounika along with their superiors for their efforts in nabbing the culprits. They were also rewarded suitably.

Traffic Police are in the forefront of leveraging digital technology: SM Vijay Kumar, DCP Traffic, Cyberabad

Hyderabad, February 10, 2020: SCSC (Society for Cyberabad Security Council) and Cyberabad Police have jointly organised a Road Safety Virtual Meet with Novartis Employees here in the city today.

It was presided over by DCP Traffic Sri SM Vijay Kumar, IPS and Convenor Traffic Forum, SCSC. It was Coordinated and Addressed by Mr. Venkat Tankasala, Jt. Secretary, Traffic Forum, SCSC.

Addressing the virtual gathering Mr. SM Vijay Kumar said that they were focusing on two major concerns of the majority of the accident victims—the Bikers and Pedestrians. The lion’s share of accidents is of Bikers and Pedestrians. Out of the total number of accidents that are taking place 60 to 70% are of the Bikers and Pedestrians, he informed.

Giving his observations, Mr. Vijay Kumar said that it was noticed that Bikers do not follow the lane discipline, do not wear high-quality helmets, drive in a zigzag way in heavy traffic, drive very close to the heavy vehicles, enter the highway without proper observation, etc.

India has a national helmet law. It made it mandatory for both motorcycle drivers and pillion riders to wear helmets. But, the enforcement of this law rests with individual states. And not all states act very strongly on it

He expressed his anguish that not many wear helmets. Even if they wear it, they don’t wear it properly. Even if they wear they buy a substandard product which is easily breakable. Not many pay attention to the standards of the helmet. The majority of the pillion riders do not wear a helmet at all. Pillion Riders are mostly the victims of the fatal accident because they don’t wear them.

Many people around the world die in motorcycle collisions because of wearing substandard helmets. A reliable and high-quality helmet saves precious lives. Even if one life saved a day, 365 lives are saved in a year their families are protected from devastation.

A helmet protects your head. Helmet use is effective at reducing head injuries

To Counter this, Mr Vijay Kumar informed his participants that the Cyberabad Traffic Police has set up Seven Check posts with dedicated Teams working 24×7 whose work is not to allow any Two Wheeler to drive without wearing Proper Helmet by both the Rider and the Pillion Rider – which is giving good results and helped in reducing the Fatal Accidents.

Speaking about Pedestrian Safety, he said, the Cyberabad Traffic Police is coordinating with GHMC for their safety. They have already set up Four Road Crossing exclusively for Pedestrians.

GHMC & CTP have introduced the Comprehensive Road Maintenance Program (CRMP) which is a PPP Module under which the Pedestrian Safety measures like; Construction of Foot Paths, Foot Over Bridges, Road Cross Markings, Sign Boards, etc., are been set up. And about 14 new FOBs (Foot Over Bridges) and 31 Exclusive Pedestrian Road Crossings are under process.

At the end Vijay Kumar interacted with the employees and answered their questions, clarified doubts if they had any. Replying to a question he said lane markings of all the Roads in the is not possible. That is because of the small length of Roads and merging of the Bye Lanes etc are an impediment. So, lane marking of all the roads inside the city is not possible. But for long-distance roads like Highways and ORR we can see the lane markings very clearly.

Replying to another question on midnight racing Mr. Vijay Kumar said, booking of cases with the help of CCTV footage is giving good results. The police are taking stern action including confiscating their licence or canceling the same.

The traffic police are in the forefront of leveraging digital technology. A good example is contactless and cashless e-challans. Telangana is the First State in the country to initiate this he said.

Integrated Traffic Management System (ITMS ) Project which is being implemented by L&T has many analytics and AI-based projects. It is a Digital Platform and helps Police minimize the manual efforts and bring down the Violations, Accidents, etc., and improves Safe Driving for the Public, he shared.
