EMS3000: The Intelligent Brain of ESS

Sungrow’s EMS3000 integrates hardware and software, leveraging advanced technologies such as cloud-edge collaboration to achieve plant-level digitization and intelligent energy management. Serving as the “intelligent brain” of the ESS, EMS3000 offers several advanced features, including MS-level rapid dispatch response, active grid support, plant system monitoring, and equipment diagnostics.

The intelligence of EMS3000 is first demonstrated through its MS-level rapid dispatch response capability. To address the market’s demand for improved energy storage economics, EMS3000 optimizes energy consumption and enhances charging and discharging efficiency through intelligent management. By employing smart control algorithms, EMS3000 swiftly generates optimal dispatch strategies based on different scenarios from the generation and user sides. This enables ESS to maximize revenue in various business models, such as peak-valley arbitrage, demand control, virtual power plants, and spot trading, thereby enhancing the overall economic performance of power plants.

Secondly, EMS3000 possesses the ability to actively support grid stability. As the scale of renewable energy installations increases, the role of energy storage in supporting the grid becomes crucial. EMS3000 actively contributes to grid stability through strategies like rapid frequency and voltage regulation, flexible inertial support, and damping control. Furthermore, it supports black starts in various scenarios, including thermal power and renewable energy, ensuring the smooth operation of modern power systems.

In terms of safety, EMS3000 demonstrates its intelligence by providing precise management of GWh-level power plants. It offers real-time feedback on the plant’s status, identifies equipment abnormalities, provides intelligent fault analysis, and issues timely warnings, eliminating the need for manual troubleshooting and reducing human and time costs by 50%.

EMS3000 effortlessly adapts to multiple power plant scenarios, including energy storage and PV-ES integration. It effectively addresses the post-construction demands of power plant owners, such as capacity expansion and the addition of PV modules, without requiring additional management equipment. This seamless compatibility at the system level accelerates project delivery and reduces upgrading costs.

iSolarBPS: Intelligent “CT scan” Safeguarding Battery Cell Safety

With the increasing use of high-capacity battery cells, the safety management of battery cell in ESS becomes critical. Based on ESS smart cell large model, SUNGROW’s self-developed iSolarBPS battery pre-diagnosis system offers real-time health diagnosis of battery cells based on indicators such as voltage consistency, internal resistance, and internal short circuit, generating diagnostic reports for GWh-level power plants within 1 minute. In the case of abnormal battery cells, iSolarBPS precisely identifies the issues and provides repair suggestions, eliminating the need for manual on-site inspections and improving O&M efficiency by 30%. Additionally, iSolarBPS proactively identifies temperature, voltage, and SOC inconsistencies 7 days in advance, internal short circuit risks 100 hours in advance, and thermal runaway risks 1 hour in advance. With iSolarBPS, ESS are equipped with an intelligent “CT scan“.

Based on complete self-development, Sungrow’s EMS3000, iSolarBPS, and the PowerTitan2.0 liquid-cooled ESS are seamlessly integrated in terms of technology architecture and control logic. The combined utilization of these three products enables an efficient synergy characterized by “a unified product suite, integrated data system, streamlined control system, and cohesive operational logic”. This approach maximizes the overall potential of the system, resulting in enhanced efficiency and heightened safety of the ESS.

Anal Fistulas: Signs, Diagnosis, and Effective Treatments

Dr Anil Malik, General Surgeon, Apollo Spectra Delhi, Chirag Enclave

Anal fistula also referred to as fistula-in-ano, is a small tunnel that is formed between the end of the anus and skin near the anus. This generally occurs when there is an infection near the anus which leads to the formation of an abscess (collection of pus). Individuals suffering through certain diseases such as Colitis, Crohn’s disease, and undergoing radiation treatment for rectal cancer are at higher risk of developing anal fistula. If not diagnosed at the right time, one can encounter a recurrence of an abscess, and an anal fistula is possible. Seek immediate treatment after spotting the symptoms.

These are the signs and symptoms of anal fistula that you shouldn’t ignore

· Constant pain: Individuals suffering from anal fistulas might feel severe, nerve-wrenching pain around the anus which can cause discomfort. It becomes a challenging task for individuals suffering from anal fistulas even when they sit down, move around, cough, or have bowel moment. This pain is caused due to infection and swelling formed in the tissues around the anus.

· Inflammation and redness: Individuals may experience redness, swellings, or inflammation in the area around the anus. This swelling can cause irritation making your skin tender and sensitive to touch. Some individuals might also notice a lump or tight skin near the anus. Swelling and inflammation is the body’s way of responding to certain infections. It is suggested to avoid frequently touching the infected area, as constant touch can make you tend skin bleed and have a burning sensation.

· Foul smell: Individuals might often notice a strong, foul smell while discharging from the fistula. This foul smell can be highly noticeable when the discharge is heavy or soaked onto the clothes, making individuals change their clothing throughout the day to avoid such an unpleasant smell. This foul smell is caused due to bacteria present in pus.

· Fever: In certain situations, individuals might feel uneasy, and feverish, and experience chills, and episodes of vomiting causing discomfort.

Diagnosis:

Diagnosis of anal fistula is done with a detailed assessment by your doctor. It is achieved by gaining information such as knowing individuals’ medical history, signs or symptoms experienced, and if previously experienced abscesses near the anus. This information helps your doctor know more about your current situation to go with the best available treatment option. Your doctors might physically examine the infected area around your anus to identify any abnormalities or lump. In some cases individuals undergo MRI (magnetic resonance imagining), ultrasound, or CT scan (computed tomography) to assess the fistula more clearly.

How Anal Fistula is treated?

In most cases, individuals need to undergo surgery for treating anal fistula. This surgery can be simple or complex depending on the severity of anal fistula. Most individuals undergo simple surgery which can be performed in one go, whereas individuals with complex anal fistula undergo surgery in different stages.

· Fistulotomy: Fistulotomy is the most common surgical procedure used for treating simple anal fistulas, It involves making an incision to open the entire fistula to allow drainage and let it heal from inside.

· Seton placement: It is a piece of thread that is placed in the fistula to keep it open and allow the smooth flow of drainage. This surgical method is used for treating complex anal fistulas.

Individuals are advised to do certain lifestyle modifications such as including fresh fruits and vegetables in their diet and avoiding eating spicy food which can easily irritate your fistula.
