BPCL Boosts Aviation Fueling Capabilities with New Hydrant Facilities at Manohar International Airport

Mumbai/Goa, May 22, 2024: Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), a Maharatna and India’s second-largest government-owned downstream oil producer, proudly announces the inauguration of state-of-the-art hydrant facilities at the newly established Manohar International Airport in north Goa.

Shri Sukhmal Jain, Director (Marketing) BPCL, inaugurated the facilities in the presence of Shri Kanwarbir Singh Kalra (Deputy CEO, GMR Goa International Airport Ltd (GGIAL).and other senior leadership from BPCL and GGIAL.

The introduction of the advanced hydrant facility is a strategic move by BPCL to cater to the rapidly growing refueling demands of the new greenfield airport. Manohar International Airport is a crucial addition to Goa’s aviation landscape, supplementing the existing Naval airport in Dabolim, which has faced constraints due to limited operational hours for civil aircraft. With the start of operations at Manohar International Airport, the combined traffic at both airports has increased.

Spanning across 6 acres of land, the hydrant fuel farm boasts a storage capacity of 8,270 KL. The hydrant system comprises an intricate network of underground pipelines connecting seamlessly to the airport’s 13 aircraft parking bays. The entire operation is meticulously managed through a fully automated console, ensuring efficiency and safety in fuel distribution.

In addition to the inauguration at MOPA, Aviation Fuelling Stations were virtually unveiled at nine other airports, bringing the total count of BPCL-operated facilities to an impressive 75 airports nationwide.

This expansion comes at a time when India’s domestic air passenger traffic is on a steady rise. Recent statistics indicate that India witnessed approximately 15.4 crore domestic air passengers during the fiscal year 2023-24, signifying a notable resurgence in air travel.

BPCL to Pioneer Compressed Bio Gas (CBG) Production in Chhattisgarh

Mumbai/Chhattisgarh, 14th March, 2024: Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), a leading Fortune 500 Maharatna Energy Conglomerate, is proud to announce a significant milestone in its commitment to sustainable energy solutions. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on Wednesday between BPCL, the Chhattisgarh Biofuel Development Authority, and Municipal Corporations of Raipur and Bhilai for the production of Compressed Bio Gas (CBG) in Chhattisgarh, marking a transformative leap towards a cleaner and greener future.

Under the terms of the agreement, BPCL, a central Public Sector Undertaking (PSU), will spearhead the establishment of CBG plants in Raipur and Bhilai with an investment of approximately Rs 100 crore each. These state-of-the-art plants will boast a processing capacity of 100-150 tonnes per day, harnessing the potential of municipal solid waste to produce biofuel.

The MoU signing ceremony took place in the esteemed presence of Honorable Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai and Honorable Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao at the former’s official residence. Chief Minister Sai underscored the pivotal role of CBG plants in fostering clean cities, clean energy, and zero carbon emissions, emphasizing the government’s unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship.

Approximately 200-250 metric tonnes of municipal solid waste will be utilized daily in the production of biofuel, laying the foundation for a sustainable and circular economy. Moreover, the establishment of these plants is poised to generate approximately 60,000 man-days of employment directly and indirectly every year, bolstering economic growth and livelihoods in the region.

Highlighting the economic benefits of the initiative, Chief Minister Sai noted that the state stands to receive GST revenue to the tune of Rs 45 lakh per year upon production and sale at full capacity. Additionally, the plants will yield organic fertilizer as a valuable by-product, furthering the state’s efforts towards promoting organic farming and agricultural sustainability.

The MoU was formally signed by key stakeholders including Shri Devesh Kumar Dhruv, Commissioner of Bhilai Municipal Corporation, Shri Avinash Mishra, Commissioner of Raipur Municipal Corporation , Shri Anurag Saraogi, Chief General Manager -Biofuel, and Shri Sumit Sarkar, Chief Executive Officer of Chhattisgarh Biofuel Development Authority.

Bhuvaneshwar, February 12, 2024: A 26-year-old YouTuber and an automotive journalist, Nishmanya Bahadur commenced on Monday ‘Atal Yatra’, an arduous solo-driving expedition along 6000 km of the Golden Quadrilateral of India that he will complete in just 15 days.

“Atal Yatra celebrates 25 years of the Golden Quadrilateral and pays tribute to the vision of Atal Behari Vajpayee, one of India’s most respected Prime Ministers,” said Nishmanya Bahadur at the launch in Mumbai. “I want to produce a series of videos on my YouTube channel “NBD” to showcase the international quality of road infrastructure created in India in recent years,” he said.

The Yatra kicked off from Mumbai’s iconic Nariman Point on Monday and will travel through Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai and ends on 26th February 2024 in Mumbai. It’s a 13-day drive through 13 states, with 2-day halts in Kolkata and Chennai averaging 500 km a day.

The highway-odyssey will pass through Ahmedabad (Gujarat) on 12th February; Ajmer (13th February), New Delhi (14th Feb); Kanpur via Yamuna expressway (15th Feb); Bodha Gaya (16th Feb); Kolkata(17thFeb); Bhubaneshwar (19th Feb); Vizag (20th Feb); Guntur (21st Feb); Chennai (22nd Feb); Bangalore (24th Feb); Belgavi (25th Feb) and end at Mumbai on 26th Feb.

Golden Quadrilateral is a network of highways connecting India’s four top metropolitan cities, namely Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata launched in January 1999 by the then Prime Minister Shri Atal Behari Vajpayee. The year 2024 marks the Silver Jubilee Anniversary of the Golden Quadrilateral which is the world’s fifth-largest highway at 5,846 kilometres of length.

Nishmanya Bahadur is a young automobile journalist with a great passion for the sector with over 1000 articles under his name. His channel NBD is about 4 months old and has already acquired about 1500 subscribers and more than 50,000 views.

“Globally, automotive journalism and AVs are a huge segment of infotainment, but not as much in India. My vision is to be counted as one of the world-class YouTubers from India in the automotive sector,” says Nishmanya.

As to why he chose such an extensive and demanding drive on India’s highways as a challenge, Nishmanya quipped, “Automobiles certainly need good roads. Besides, making transport faster, more comfortable and more economical for passengers, drivers and movement of goods. Road infrastructure is the backbone of commerce and also of tourism. I want to tell the world that India has arrived on that stage,” he added.
