COVID-19 is the virus that causes respiratory disease and in serious cases, it can lead to pneumonia. If one exhibits symptoms such as respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath, and breathing difficulties then he/she may suffer from Coronavirus. More severe cases of COVID-19 can also cause severe acute respiratory syndrome and kidney failure. These symptoms can be particularly dangerous for elderly patients or people with existing health conditions. This is so because the immunity of older people may weaken as they age. The elderly may need a helping hand and they also often need to have people around them. They may have existing comorbidities and recoveries are usually slower and more complicated. They may panic and get anxious as well. Thus, here the role of the family is important in helping them stay in top shape.

Here’s how you can support and lend a helping hand to the senior citizens

· Senior citizens should eat healthily and strengthen their immune system. See to it that you avoid binge eating while at home, and only stick to healthy eating. Say no to junk food as that can take a toll on your health. Go for green leafy vegetables, whole grain foods such as nuts and seeds, and a whole range of fresh fruit and vegetables, particularly for things like Vitamin C.

· Check on them from time to time. Speak to them and allow them to open up about their feelings. Cook for them, bring groceries for them and spend some quality time with the seniors.

· Ensure that you stock up all the medical supplies for your elders. Do not allow them to venture out of the house or come in contact with people who are sick. Make sure that even they follow the social distancing norms and use masks.

· Look for any changes that occur in the elderly as they can also suffer from allergies and infections. Monitor their temperature, blood sugar levels, and blood pressure at home. Check whether they take medications on time. Encourage them to wash their hands from time to time. If need be, stay in touch with the doctor via teleconsultation or video consultation.

· Encourage the elderly people to stay in contact with friends and relatives via calls or video.

· Help them to do light exercises at home. This is so because immobility can invite joint problems.

· Help the elderly people to stay occupied by introducing them to activities such as reading, puzzle-solving, crossword, Ludo, meditation, or listening to music. You can also play indoor games like carrom and chess with your elders.

· Keep your surroundings clean and help the elderly maintain good personal hygiene.

The nationwide lockdown, being observed since March 2020 to control virus spread, is causing restlessness among countrymen. Actress Bidita Bag supports famous fashion photographer Somsubhro Sarkaar’s concept through a unique video named ‘Pandemic’ to celebrate 73rd I-DAY and pay tribute to the nation which is fighting a pandemic situation.

Bidita Bag took to her Instagram account to share the message, which read, “A Pandemic. A Lockdown. Life upturned. Humanitarian crisis. A feeling of being caged. Switch from physical to virtual. Uncertainties all around. The collapse of the expected. Yet, from the ashes rise a breed of heroes. The resilience of the human persists, defying all odds.”

The video begins showcasing various struggles faced by human beings during the pandemic.

Famous fashion photographer Somsubhro Sarkaar conceptualized and executed the whole shoot. Somsubhro with the help of Anshul R Gupta, popular film editor, and sound engineer Shaikh Mehboob executed this video. Talking about the video, Som Says, “The immense physical, psychological, social and virtual changes, struggles faced by human beings gave me the idea. Further discussions on the thoughts with multidimensional actor Bidita Bag gave it a structure.”

The collective Indian psyche, obstacles, and unsurpassable courage unfolded in poetry by Rachita Chauhan who penned a long note to go along with the video. Rachita said, “We are living in a wartime situation. A war against COVID. Unpredictability looms large. We stand face to face with our mortality. However, we are also witnessing stories of unsurpassable courage and dedication to duty. Humanity today stands in unison.”

Rima Mishra, founder of Media Tribe who agreed to help spread the video online adds, “No one can stop Somsubhro Sarkaar from creating magic. Even during the pandemic he and Bidita worked hard to shoot this very creative pandemic video. Resilience helps us survive and fight the disease better is what Rachita tells us through her poem. From a very young age, Ms Sunita Budhiraja has been enthusiastic about handlooms, her interest and passion towards it, led her to start a trustee and social media campaign Six yards and 365 days which aimed at improving the morale and living conditions of the handloom weavers of tradition. Through this Ms Budhiraja has connected with a few associations and people who have been helping the division, offering budgetary help, sorting out raw material, purchasing handloom sarees and stocking them at their own expense even though there are very few buyers.

The panel pertained of various Padma Shree and National Award winners. The panel for the first day-7th August- consisted of Ms Malini Awasthi, Mr Shribas Chandra Supakar, Mr Saeed ur Rehman, Ms Belaa Sanghvi, Mr Nishant Malhotra. With Banarasee Saree as the theme, the Zoom event went smoothly. The second day, i.e. 8th August, had Odisha Weaves as the theme and the panel constituted of Ms Navika Kumar, Ms Anupriya Mridha, Ms Purvi Patel, Mr Sanjeev Manglani, Ms Neeta Shetkar, Ms Divyavalli Rajaram.

The third and the last day of the event, i.e. 9th August had artists, entrepreneurs and bureaucrats as panellists. Mr Arun Somani, Dr Alka Raghuvanshi, Mr Paroma Banerjee, Ms Indu Halder, Ms Uttama Das made the panel extremely eminent. The theme for the members was Chanderi Sarees.

The three days of the event saw an extensive discussion on how to protect the ecosystem of handloom sarees. As the centre scrapes the Handloom Board and the Handicraft Board, the discussion became the need of the hour.

Tanla announces unaudited financial results for Q1 FY 2021

Hyderabad, August 12, 2020: [NSE-TANLA; BSE-532790] — The Board of Tanla Solutions Limited at its Board Meeting held on August 12, 2020, announced the un-audited financial results for the quarter ended on June 30, 2020, for FY21.

Revenue at ₹455.5 crores increased by 15% sequentially from the first quarter of FY20.
Gross Margin at ₹105.3 crores increased by 37% sequentially from the first quarter of FY20.
Net Profit at ₹78.6 crores increased by 204% sequentially from the first quarter of FY20.
EPS at ₹5.17, increased by 196% sequentially from the first quarter of FY20.
Tanla and all its subsidiaries remain debt-free.
Provision of ₹3.7 crores for loss of investment in liquid funds and a provision of ₹2.92 crores created for doubtful debts in FY20 have been reversed in the current quarter, as the same has been realized.
A tax refund of ₹1.44 crore has been received during Q1FY2021.
Interest income of ₹3.42 crore comprises of ₹1.4 crores as interest on TDS and ₹2.02 crore realized as interest from fixed deposits made in HDFC Bank.

During Q1FY21, 80 new customers were signed up with an annual potential revenue of ₹80 crore, constituting a healthy mix of customers from leading verticals (e-commerce, BFSI, EdTech, Telecom etc.) including established brands to high potential startups.
Tanla was awarded a contract by a leading telecom service provider in Dubai for deploying the subscriber consent management system for promotional/bulk SMS based on blockchain technology.

Update on Buy-back

In the buyback offer, 1.67 Cr number of shares were tendered, representing 87.80% of the buy-back offer size, resulting in the paid-up share capital reducing to 13.55 Cr equity shares of ₹1/ each from *15.22 Cr equity shares of ₹1/ each.

Post-buy-back, the number of shareholders reduced by 3614 shareholders from 50,711 on June 12, 2020, to 47,097, on July 31, 2020.
Total buy-back proceeds of ₹135.2 crores were discharged to the shareholders on July 22, 2020, and buy-back tax of ₹29.5 crores was paid on August 5, 2020.

Update on Merger

The Hyderabad bench of the Honorable NCLT approved the merger of Karix Mobile Private Limited (“Karix”) and Unicel Technologies Private Limited (“Unicel”) with Tanla Corporation Private Limited (“Tanla”) on June 30, 2020.
As per the NCLT Order, the appointed date for the merger is April 09, 2019.
As approved in the NCLT Order, Tanla shall be named as Karix subject to regulatory approvals.
As an impact of Merger, Goodwill amounting to ₹158.4 crores is now available as a tax allowable expense for Tanla.

Gramodaya Chamber of Commerce and Technology (GCOT), a not for profit Social Enterprise, founded by the Alumni of Osmania University as part of its Centenary Celebrations in 2017, to emancipate the life of Rural dwellers, announced “Gramodaya Bandhu Mitra Puraskar” today on the eve of 73^rd Independence Day Celebrations. The awards are in recognition of the yeoman service rendered by individuals and institutions to provide succour and uplift the vast majority of our population dependent on agriculture and allied activities for livelihood.

GCOT has been spearheaded by Vasanth Kumar Damasthapuram (popularly known as ‘Delhi Vasanth’), an Alumnus of Osmania University and MIT School of Government, Pune. He has been extensively working for the cause of the farmers and undertook a 2,140 Km padayatra in 2007 from his hometown Zaheerabad to New Delhi, to garner the attention of the Central Government to the miserable plight of farmers committing suicide. His walk was one of the key factors instrumental in compelling the UPA government to announce the 70,000-crore farm loan waiver in 2007.

Gramodaya Chamber of Commerce and Technology has instituted the “Gramodaya Bandhu Mitra Puraskar” to commemorate the 150^th Birth Anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, and is recognizing the outstanding initiatives of Individuals and Institutionsglobally, working on Gandhian perspective of Agriculture, Rural Development and self-contained villages. These awards will be presented annually from this year onwards for exceptional contributions made to the rural economy.

Gramodaya Bandhu Mitra Puraskar is being presented as a recognition to the stalwarts ushering in a new dawn in the rural communities and working towards accomplishing the goal of Gram Swaraj endeared by the Mahatma Gandhi. Gramodaya Chamber of Commerce and Technology, is paying a tribute to the father of the nation and the ideals he represented, which are so very relevant even today, on his 150^th Birth Anniversary through these awards, says Delhi Vasanth.

A JOYFUL HEALING AND SOUND THERAPY BY DR ANJU SHARMA AT MANBHAVAN ORGANISED BY MANOVIKAS CHARITABLE SOCIETY FOR SPECIAL KIDS

New Delhi, 12 th August 2020: Manbhavan, a popular and joyful support circle in India organized by Manovikas Charitable Society is gaining immense popularity for their virtual programs held exclusively for differently-abled people. The virtual platform was graced by Dr Anju Sharma, a renowned Psychic reformer, Sound & Energy Master, Wellness-Holistic Coach, International Speaker and Founder of the Musical Healing Band named “Sound of Infinity”.

Dr Anju started the session by discussing sounds and their frequencies around us and their impact on us. She made the session more interesting and interactive by making the students and the audience do breathing and clapping exercises followed by the counting of 1 to 30 with watching time. These exercises help to increase concentration. She also discussed how to keep the left and right brain active by doing Gyan Mudra, a brain-gymming exercise. It was a fun activity in which students have to focus on one hand in Gyan Mudra and swinging it left to right while humming any song or a simple birthday song. As the session continued, Dr Anju asked all the students and the parents to draw a landscape that helps to understand what is going inside an individual’s mind, to know how much a child and parents are connected and how the child perceives the outside world. She will analyse each landscape, once sent to her.

Discussing the sound therapy, Dr Anju Sharma suggested the audience listen to the kind of music they love but advised not to listen to rock or loud music. Listening to sounds like flowing water, breeze or birds chirping can help in opening the brain nerves and makes the person energetic. Sound healing meditation also helps in removing fear and stress. She further helped with a few tips on colour healing for specific problems. The session concluded with Dr Anju answering a few questions from the parents. The audience was seen enjoying the activities and were happy to interact with Dr Anju Sharma.

In the wake of the ongoing pandemic of Covid-19, Manovikas Family has created the Manbhavan virtual programme to engage and connect with their students and other individuals with disabilities during this isolation time. It is a platform through which the team provides support to individuals and families struggling with isolation, emotional, and other family-related crises.
