Jodhpur, Rajasthan, May 18:  A monumental 12-foot-tall bronze statue of former Vice President of India and one of Rajasthan’s most respected political visionaries, Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, was unveiled on May 14, 2026, at Ratanada Chauraha, Jodhpur, Rajasthan, by the Hon’ble Defence Minister of India, Rajnath Singh. The statue has been designed and sculpted by renowned Indian sculptor Naresh Kumawat, inspired by the vision and initiative of Hon’ble Union Minister of Culture and Tourism, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.

The bronze memorial has been created as a tribute to the extraordinary life, leadership, and public service of Shri Bhairon Singh Shekhawat Ji, fondly remembered as the “Jan Nayak” of Rajasthan. Extensive research and sculptural detailing were undertaken to ensure that the memorial reflects the true spirit and legacy of Shri Bhairon Singh Shekhawat Ji for generations to come. I will also take this opportunity to express my gratitude towards Gajendra Singh Shekhawat for his inspiration and support in bringing this important public memorial to life. The project stands as a meaningful contribution toward preserving the political and cultural heritage of Rajasthan through monumental public art.”

The unveiling ceremony by Rajnath Singh witnessed the presence of distinguished dignitaries, public representatives, cultural personalities, and citizens paying tribute to one of India’s most admired statesmen.

This bronze statue not only commemorates the remarkable contribution of Shri Bhairon Singh Shekhawat Ji to Indian democracy and public life, but also reinforces the role of sculpture and public memorials in preserving the legacy of national leaders for future generations.
