With the rise in COVID cases in UP, Hospitals see rise in the teleconsultation services

With increasing coronavirus cases and people’s subsequent hesitation to step out of home, Regency Superspecialty Hospital, Lucknow has witnessed a surge in the teleconsultation OPD services in the last one month. The hospital administration has revealed that 60 per cent of the online and teleconsultations pertaining to health conditions like chronic kidney diseases and liver-related problems have increased as many districts in Uttar Pradesh are going through a partial lockdown to curb the spread of the life-threatening virus.

Under a month of its launch, the teleconsultation service launched by Regency Superspecialty Hospital, saw an increase in adoption, owing to people’s awareness towards the importance of regular health check-ups and limited availability of doctors for an in-person consultation. Teleconsultation has seen massive growth due to the pressing demand for digital access to doctors and medical services during the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly for chronic kidney disease patients, for whom delays in treatment can have severe life-threatening consequences.

“It is highly appreciable that people are staying indoors and turning to teleconsultation for their healthcare needs. In such unprecedented times, when our mobility is restricted, teleconsultation services have come as a saving grace. We at Regency Superspecialty Hospital want to ensure that all the patients are provided appropriate medical advice through teleconsultation sessions. We believe through the launch of this service most of our patients will not have any break in their medical treatment as all our senior consultants are available through this technology interface. Social distancing processes have created their own challenges in healthcare services and we are creating solutions to meet our patient expectations. All our services at the hospitals are continuing and our emergency department is open 24/7 to extend medical attention,” said Dr Deepak Dewan, MD, DM-Nephrology, Director Renal Sciences, Regency Superspecialty Hospital.

Patients have been going through their routine follow up consultations through this technology so that they can have continued access to their care. Through the launch of the teleconsultation services, Regency Superspecialty Hospital has created a new model of hospital-based patient care coupled with care wherever applicable.

“At this time the anxiety levels, particularly among patients with chronic diseases, is high and having access to their doctors gives these patients’ extreme comfort and confidence. Managing chronic diseases during the coronavirus pandemic has been difficult and requires close coordination between multiple medical services, scheduling appointments, and coming up with solutions to innumerable problems that crop up along the way. With the rise of COVID-19 cases in India and the subsequent lockdown enforcement for the safety of the larger public, there were a number of patients who found it difficult to get the medical help they required. But teleconsultation helped them to maintain continuity of care through local centers,” added Dr Pradeep Joshi, MS M.Ch.(GI Surgery), Senior Consultant, Regency Superspecialty Hospital.

Amid COVID-19, father donates liver to save life of his little daughter, Jupiter Hospital performs a liver transplant to save 5-years old Pune girl

Timely surgical intervention and liver donation by father to a little daughter, in times of COVID-19, saved the life a 5-years old Pune girl who was suffering from life-threatening liver disease. Ten-hours long liver transplant surgery by an experienced team of surgeons at Jupiter Hospital saved the life of Shubhra who received a liver from her father

Shubra was suffering from biliary atresia, a condition in which there is the failure of development of bile ducts in the liver at birth. Children suffering from this condition develop jaundice. She underwent a corrective procedure at birth known as Kasai’s procedure, said Dr Kalpesh Patil, the Paediatric surgeon. However, when she became 4 years old, she developed jaundice, accumulation of fluid in her abdomen and multiple bouts of vomiting containing blood and would require life-saving liver transplantation, said Dr Vishnu Biradar, the Paediatric gastroenterologist

The complex surgery which took place over ten hours at Jupiter hospital in Baner, Pune was performed by a team of transplant surgeons headed by Dr Gaurav Chaubal.

“Liver transplantation in children is often very challenging as they have very small blood vessels which need to be connected to the new liver and the operation is technically challenging. There is no room for error,” said Dr Chaubal.

Shubra’s father donated a part of his liver to his child. All necessary testing and diagnostic procedures were carried out and the transplant was performed on 4th July 2020

Shubra and her father underwent a full and extensive transplant assessment. The old liver from the child was removed surgically and the donor’s liver was connected. The transplanted liver began working straight away. At the end of the surgery, the recipient was stable and shifted out to the intensive care unit for further care. All the protocols related to the prevention of the spread of the COVID was followed during the conduct of this surgery and in the Transplant ICU said Dr Srinivas Tambe, Paediatric intensivist. She spent 14 days in the hospital and was discharged. Both father and child have recovered completely. This successful transplant has led to a very high possibility of a complete cure from the liver cirrhosis in a new lease of life to the child”

Shubhra’s case clearly points out that people should not be scared of COVID-19 and should not delay life-saving surgeries. Jupiter Hospital has been taking full care of non-COVID-19 critical cases and performs advanced surgeries taking all precautions for patient safety and care.

Ultra Media & Entertainment to release “Raat Ke Musaafir” music video featuring Sona Mohapatra on Independence Day 2020

Ultra Media & Entertainment presents music video “Raat Ke Musaafir” featuring vocals by Sona Mohapatra. The song is an ode to the struggles that Indian women face when they dare to dream in the context of safe spaces whenever they work or travel at night. The music video will release on Independence Day

2020 on Ultra Bollywood YouTube Channel and later on Gaana,Spotify,Saavn itunes and other leading platforms.

The music video produced by Kumar Bharti, and directed by Dehradun-based filmmaker, Ajay Govind, raises the issue of women’s safety at night in Indian cities. Accomplished artiste Sona Mohapatra, who has raised several women-centric issues, lends her powerful voice to highlight the problems working women face when travelling at night and sheds light on the power of female solidarity in building safe spaces for women in every sphere of life.

“Raat Ke Musaafir” features actors Sakshi Hasija, who plays a female cab driver aspiring to become a civil servant, and Anupama Sunehria, a young hockey player. Sakshi’s character’s strong maturity and the vibrant energy of Sakshi’s character become the crux of the music video. To add an authentic touch, the producers invited a hockey coach, Sonal Shah, to train Anupama on set. The video has been shot in Dehradun.

The powerful concept, developed by the scriptwriter, Remya Sasindran, delves into the barriers that women face when they have to be out at night to achieve their dreams and how women continue to support each other to make the world a safer place.

The song featured in the video is composed by Nitin Krishna Menon, who last composed music for a short film ‘Missing’ directed by actor Vipin Sharma, which was selected for screening at NYIFF 2020.

Rajat Agrawal of Ultra Media & Entertainment, says, “We are extremely happy to acquire the rights of the music video ‘Raat Ke Musaafir’, which highlights women’s’ safety issues on the eve of Indian Independence Day. We partnered with the producers because the creative energy of the entire team was infectious and the final

output will definitely empower female viewers and raise awareness. Iconic Sona Mohapatra adds to the overall impact in her inimitable voice. We at Ultra intend to start and felicitate #RaatKeMusaafir safety drive for women working at night.”

Iconic artiste Sona Mohapatra said, “Raat ke Musaafir immediately struck a chord with me. The narrative, both visually & in the song was about women’s right to public spaces, be it night or day and their right to be able to dream freely & make those dreams come true! There could be no better spirit to celebrate this Independence Day & one that has come right in the middle of a scary pandemic & health

scare where it has become even more evident that in order for humankind to get through to the other side, all genders need to work together, with mutual respect, in harmony because there is a much bigger force at play that no one can control. This harmony can be brought about only if we free women from their shackles.” Sona added, “This song has strong electric guitars & is a rock ballad. Unconventional in India since such ‘rockstar’ status is reserved for the menfolk more often than not & this too breaks barriers subconsciously & overtly! I

enjoyed singing this song straight from the heart because it tells a story without preaching or patronising anyone. Women have been trained to speak softly & are expected to sing like a high pitched bird in a sweet voice only & also be a damsel in distress. This is 2020. Those days are over.”

“We decided to release the song on Independence Day because freedom is a core theme that runs in the song. Eventually, the song is a take on everyone’s freedom to be themselves and find others in that journey who will support you,” added Ajay Govind lyricist and director of the music video.
