Exclusive Interview with Mr. Zakir Hussain, Director, BD Soft

We thank Mr. Zakir Hussain, Director, BD Soft for this interview. Business News This Week team had an exclusive interaction with him over various aspects related to the business and growth.

1. Please tell us about the core products and services of BD Soft?

BD Software Distribution is one of the trusted cyber security distributors in India. We have been in the channel and distribution business since 2016, and hence we are well versed with the industry and have strong expertise and network with distributors and partners. Most of the team are having experience of more than 20 years of in a similar business. Since the pandemic, we have introduced the Indian consumers to an array of international solutions and thereby made their businesses resilient in the midst of business continuity struggle. Our varied portfolio of products includes Bitdefender Consumer &Endpoint Security Solutions for SMB &Enterprises, End Point Protector (DLP solutions) from CoSosys, Proget (MDM solutions), Zecurion (UBA & DLP), Data Resolve (DLP), FUDO (PAM), Prophaze (WAF), Abbyy (Fine Reader & OCR), Digitware (Cloud Backup), Supermail (Mailing Services), Mailvault (Mail backup), and Peregrine SOC by Cyber NX to name a few.

2. Has there been a rise in data security since the pandemic? And how has it become of prime importance to small as well as large companies?

Since last two years because of the pandemic lot of IT companies are doing very well because everybody has started giving some cyber solutions and also hardware because suddenly everyone started working from home so companies who are using desktops had to procure laptops and give it to their people to work from home and then when you are working with laptops it has to be secured because u have to connect with the webs and servers.

So cyber security has become particularly important to people who were earlier not bothered with those who used to go to the office and work in a protected environment with firewall and other infrastructure, but now are forced to work from home or and other places and so many have gone to their hometowns. So they are very far from their work offices so these cybercrime increases and a lot of companies decided that they have a lot of data on what will they do if they are out because it’s a big location because they cannot be hoisting around when the computer is not in their domain. so in this situation, all solutions are very much needed right now  by almost every company which is having any kind of data and I think any business and every business  works on the data that they have, that’s why during the current time this has become important

3. Tell us about BitDefender’s new Cloud-Based Endpoint Detection And Response Solution For Enterprises And Managed Service Providers. What is it and how can it help?

Bitdefender is a global cybersecurity leader protecting over 500 million systems in more than 150 countries. Their security products portfolio encapsulates threat intelligence for people, homes, businesses, and their devices, networks, and cloud services.

Bitdefender’s new cloud-based dedicated Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) solution, is designed to help enterprise customers and managed service providers (MSPs) improve the ability to detect and eradicate threats as they occur and strengthen overall resiliency against cyberattacks. The new EDR package is resource-light and fully cloud-delivered for easy deployment and management and runs alongside third-party prevention technologies. Unique in the EDR space, it combines endpoint telemetry and human risk analytics with advanced threat detection capabilities. The detection capabilities enable quick visibility into vulnerable systems on-premise or in cloud environments and offer one-click actions to mitigate risks including quarantining files, blocking IP addresses, and killing processes. Bitdefender EDR is designed to increase resilience against cyber-attacks by making detection more accurate with increased visibility into what’s happening at the endpoint.

4. Tell us about BD Soft’s Channel Partner programme?

BD Software Distribution Pvt. Ltd. is a 100% channel partner-focused company and we do all business via our partners spread across India. We provide necessary training, certifications, Marketing materials to our partners to succeed. We also help them with POC and PreSales to showcase our solutions to their customers more effectively. Our partners always make good profits from promoting our solutions.

5. What is the Brand’s Geographical reach? 

We have a head office in Navi Mumbai, we have an office in Kolkata and we have another technical support office in IT park in Navi Mumbai where our technical team sits and work from there and plans are that in future we will be having 24 hours support service. Our plan this year is to open offices in Delhi and Bangalore also. So we have 3 offices right now and will grow to more 2 offices this year. We are a team of 50 people and we would be around 80 people by financial year-end till next march 2022.

6. What is the future roadmap of the brand?

We are working on building an aggressive roadmap for Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities in India.  There is a growing demand in these untapped markets, which is now awakening to the need for cyber security solutions. We plan to be present in at least 100 cities by the end of 2021 with all our solutions. Our team is also on a growth path, and we will be around 80 team members by financial year-end. Our focus, for now, is on sales, support, and being seen at the right touchpoints.

1. What Inspires you to start LSI ?

What has been observed over the years of practice in our work is that focusing only on nutrition is not enough to help our clients achieve their goals. Right lifestyle choices are what will get you there. This is what needs to be implemented in the Nutrition courses that are being offered these days. The courses should be able to educate and teach students right from the time of their basic learning in the field of nutrition and medicine, how lifestyle and an integrative approach along with a focus on addressing the root cause and seeing the patient as a whole is the way ahead.

With the patients’ healing and recovery being the sole objective, one opens doors to bringing out sustainable lifestyle changes. Any lifestyle changes that one makes has to be sustainable otherwise the problems may crop up again, that is why we believe in sustainable lifestyles which are easy to implement focusing on the four pillars of lifestyle. You become more involved and treat not only the problem but by simultaneously working on other aspects, you are able to provide a solution that will have a lasting effect on the patient. Hence, our core team decided to work with various recognised Education bodies to put together effective and comprehensive accredited programmes focusing on Nutrition and Holistic Lifestyle to empower students with the skill set they require to make an impact in the health and wellness of people across the world. These courses shall be recognised by the Industry and the qualification shall be awarded by credible Institutions. This means that students who are passionate about health and want to pursue this course can eventually look for jobs and employment in the field of health, wellness, and nutrition.

2. What kind of courses are you offering to the students?

Nagindas Khandwala College, Autonomous (affiliated with the University of Mumbai) offers B.Sc.(Honours), M.Sc., and a Postgraduate Diploma in Integrative Nutrition & Dietetics in collaboration with LSI.

3. What according to you are the skill sets a student needs to have in order to be a successful practitioner?

This course is based solely on our years of expertise in healing others.
The essence of our Integrative Nutrition & Dietetics course is that it allows you to help the clients to reach their goals by focusing on all four lifestyle pillars: enough sleep, balanced nutrition, adequate activity, and emotional detox.

It focuses on practical learning aspects and revolves around these four lifestyle pillars. So, it is very important that the students have an open mind towards this and are able to integrate the various aspects of one’s lifestyle and help the client achieve their target. Having trained for this, the student will be prepared to work in an integrative health care setting after completing this course

4. Why People are moving more towards careers in Nutrition and Dietetics

The future of preventive healthcare and medicine will require an integrative approach at the highest level. We have observed that medicine and nutrition alone cannot be the treatment for ill health. Rather, we need to employ lifestyle in collaboration with all systems of medicine and nutrition research if we wish to eliminate or reduce chronic illness.

True healthcare emphasizes prevention as well as healing, diet, mobility, sleep, and emotional health, and treats the human body as a “whole” rather than an illness in isolation.

Looking at the statistics of disease and sickness today, more and more people are now open to the idea of investing in their health to prevent the onset of disease, suffering, and expenses that follow, and hence preventative healthcare is booming. The future of healthcare is preventative medicine.

Satyaprem Upadhyay, Co- Founder, CEO, Nojoto

Satyaprem Upadhyay, is the Co – Founder and CEO, Nojoto. He is an alumni of MICA and has earlier worked with Snapdeal’s JV with DEN as Chief of Staff where they scaled the business to 400 Cr GMV from zero. Prior to that he has also worked with Network18 & TCS.

• Recently, Advocate Anuja Kapur filed a PIL in Supreme Court seeking a direction to the Central government to ensure that there should be a clear guideline for registration of the cases related to marital rape under framed guidelines and laws.

• Advocate Kapur filed a PIL in Supreme Court seeking directions to Centre to implement the clear guidelines and issue instructions to Flying Squad, Invigilators/Supervisors during the exams.

• Advocate Kapur filed a petition in Supreme Court on fake news seeking directions to the centre by setting responsibility of the concerned authorities.

• Advocate Anuja Kapur filed a PIL in Supreme Court of India on “Kathua Rape and Murder Case” where she demanded the CBI probe into this matter in the Court of Chief Justice of India Dipak Mishra. Many media houses published the view point of Advocate Anuja Kapur on the issue.

• Anuja Kapur was appointed as AMICUS CURIAE by the Chief Justice of High Court Honourable Smt. Gita Mittal in the J ONE JAN SAMUH SEVA SAMITI (NGO) versus Deputy Commissioner, SDMC &Ors matter.

• Anuja Kapur as a petitioner in person filed a PIL for the discrepancies, loopholes, non-compliance of the existing laws, which are related to Acid Attack Survivors in Supreme Court of India. CJI Dipak Mishra gave an instant notice all the states and Union Territories.
• She had also filed a PIL against the unlicensed pubs and restaurants in Hauz Khas Village, Delhi who are serving the liquor without the liquor licence and No Objection Certificate (NOC). The PIL was heard by the Hon’ble Chief Justice of High Court, Justice G. Rohini and Justice Sangeeta Dhingra. They gave the notice & directions to the concerned authorities. All the leading newspapers such as PTI, The Hindu, The Indian Express, Navbharat Times, and Financial Chronicle covered this highlighted case.
• She also filed a Criminal Writ Petition in Bombay High Court as a Petitioner (Advocate in person) in the most brutal case of model and minor cigarette burn Pune case where the higher police officials and influential political persons are involved in the case. This case is a syndicate organised crime nexus, which involved many influential people, hence Honourable Justice Ranjit Moore took a cognizance in this case and directed Advocate Anuja Kapur and congratulated her for assisting the case without any personal benefits & bringing it to the notice of the court.
• Directions given in this brutal case by Honourable Justice Ranjit Moore  to Advocate General  of Maharashtra, Amicus Curiae Mr Mehar Desai, Commissioner of  Police Pune and DCP Pune to assist the court in this high profile case.

After having decades of experience in psychology, Mrs Anuja Kapur decided to raise her voice for victims of rape, eve teasing, violence and acid attacks, so for that she got an International Diploma in Victimology from, The Tokiawa International Victimology Institute, Japan.

Social Activist

Mrs. Anuja Kapur is the founder of an NGO named as “NIRBHIYA EK SHAKTI” which is the centre for “Victim Assistance”.

• Recently, Mrs Kapur led a protest march in support of Sushant Singh Rajput with Republic Media network at Janpath, New Delhi to demand the harshest punishment to the culprits.

• Kapur attended the AIESEC foundation’s programme as a Chief Guest.
