American Power Systems unveils Toyota Land Cruiser 300 dual alternator bracket kit at Eurosatory 2024

PARIS, June 17, 2024  — US-based power solutions manufacturer American Power Systems, Inc. (APS) has developed a dual alternator bracket kit for Toyota Land Cruiser 300 vehicles with a 3.5L twin turbo petrol (gas) engine. APS debuted the latest product in its LC300 series at Eurosatory 2024, a global defense and security trade show held June 17-21 in Paris.

The new dual alternator bracket kit allows users to add additional power to the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 with minimal changes to the OE under-the-hood configuration. Specifically, end users can add APS’ 12-, 24-, or 48-volt high output alternators for 12-12, 12-24, or 12-48 secondary system configurations.

Launched by Toyota Motor Corporation in August 2021, the all-terrain Land Cruiser 300 Series is a complete redesign of the outgoing 200 Series. The Toyota Land Cruiser platform has a reputation for reliability, durability, and off-road performance, making it a popular transportation choice in rugged environments.

More power to stay safe & connected in the field

“As security or defense vehicles, various Toyota platforms are often fitted with armor and/or special equipment such as anti-IED jammers, communication systems, satellite equipment, cooling systems and more that allows end-users to stay connected, collect information and even perform silent watch activities,” explained APS President & CEO Amy Lank. “However, all this equipment adds to the vehicle’s weight and creates current draw that OEM systems cannot meet. Having this additional power available via a dual alternator set-up makes the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 vehicles mission-ready while helping end-users to stay safe in the field.”

Relais & Châteaux launches an SOSforBiodiversity to Save Ocean Species

PARIS, June 8, 2024  — Committed to the preservation of marine resources since 2009 alongside Ethic Ocean, the Relais & Châteaux Association has once again joined forces with the NGO by launching a new awareness campaign. The objective? To remove all overexploited species of seafood from Relais & Châteaux menus, starting with eel, and to prioritize sustainable species.

UN World Oceans Day: A commitment of many years to protect marine life

For the ninth consecutive year, Relais & Châteaux will celebrate World Oceans Day on June 8th with the collective appeal #SOSforBiodiversity. The not-for-profit Association has invited chefs to adapt their menus by removing overexploited species, such as eel, and selecting sustainable seafood. To raise awareness of this issue, Relais & Châteaux is highlighting the efforts of four chefs who embody this initiative.

Mauro Colagreco (Mirazur, Menton, France), Vice President, Chefs of Relais & Châteaux, highlighted: “As an Association, we can have a major influence on global culinary culture. It is urgent and vital to serve guests species which are not overfished, or which have been responsibly farmed with respect to the environment, the animals and the people involved.”

#SOSforBiodiversity has been created to complement Ethic Ocean’s #EelNoThankYou campaign, which Relais & Châteaux joined at the end of 2023, when it mobilized its chefs around the world to save endangered eel species globally.

Chefs who set the tone

Pedro Subijana of Relais & Châteaux Akelarre (San Sebastian, Spain) and elected member of Relais & Châteaux’s World Culinary Council: “Typical Spanish dishes–such as those with elvers (juvenile eel) –are very important to our culture and heritage. But responsibility must go hand-in-hand with tradition. We must all pause serving and eating eel now to preserve it for future generations.”

Vicky Lau of Relais & Châteaux Tate Dining Room (Hong Kong) and elected member of Relais & Châteaux’s World Culinary Council: “Many people think farmed eel is different from wild eel, when, in fact, wild juvenile eels are caught and then taken to be grown on farms. With the critical status of eels all over the world, this form of aquaculture can’t be considered sustainable.”

David Toutain of Relais & Châteaux Restaurant David Toutain (Paris, France): “Our iconic dish has been eel since we opened the restaurant in 2013, but now we’ve replaced it with smoked herring. Fishing and all other causes of the European eel’s decline are issues that we need to be aware of in order to take action.”

Michael Cimarusti of Relais & Châteaux Providence (Los Angeles, California, USA): “Eel is something that we have had on the menu from time to time at Providence but being a member of Relais & Châteaux and understanding the importance of protecting any species that’s endangered, we signed the pledge and decided to stop serving eel. Wild harvested eels are red listed pretty much all over the world.”

Vogue World Comes to Paris to Celebrate French Fashion and Olympic Sports

VOGUE WORLD PARIS

Paris, 29 February 2024: At a press conference held in Paris, Anna Wintour, Chief Content Officer, Condé Nast and Global Editorial Director, Vogue; accompanied by Bruno Pavlovsky, President, Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode and President, CHANEL Fashion; designers Pharrell Williams, Simon Porte Jacquemus, Olivier Rousteing, and Marine Serre—with French athletes and Olympic hopefuls Enzo Lefort (fencing), Carlota Dudek (breakdancing), Erwan Konaté (track & field), Tiavo Randrianisa (taekwondo)—announced that the third annual Vogue World will take place in Paris on Sunday, 23 June 2024, International Olympic Day. The evening will kick off Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week, one month before the 2024 Paris Olympics Games.

Continuing the precedent set by Vogue World’s debut in New York in 2022 with a fashion show and street fair and 2023’s

Vogue World: London, a spectacular evening at the theater benefiting the performing arts, the third edition in Paris will be a tribute to the Olympic opening ceremonies, celebrating 100 years of fashion and sports, as well as Paris itself.

Vogue World: Paris will collaborate with youth sports academies from all over Paris and around the country to celebrate ten different sporting disciplines within the show (track and field, cycling, swimming, equestrian sports, fencing, gymnastics, martial arts, tennis, breakdancing, football)—with each sport paired with a theme of French fashion for every decade since 1924, the last time that Paris hosted the Olympics.

Vogue World: Paris will come to life at Place Vendôme, a location emblematic of both Paris and the history of fashion.

Anna Wintour, Chief Content Officer, Condé Nast, and Global Editorial Director, Vogue, said: “I am delighted that Vogue World has found its third home here in Paris. If Vogue World: New York was a street fair and Vogue World: London was an opening night at the theater, Paris will be a tribute to the Olympic Games. And it’s a dream to make the Place Vendôme Vogue World’s home—I can’t think of a setting that better captures the city’s rich history and glamour.”

Vogue is committed to making a meaningful impact by donating a portion of the net proceeds from ticket sales to the Paris 2024 charitable tickets program in association with Secours populaire, a humanitarian organization dedicated to granting individuals in low-income households the unique opportunity to attend the Olympic and Paralympic Games. The organization also facilitates access to essential equipment for aspiring athletes across France.

The team behind Vogue World includes Anna Wintour and Mark Guiducci, Creative Editorial Director, Vogue, with support from many global teams. Juan Costa Paz, from Paris-based creative studio Convoy, will be joining as creative director; Alexandre Samson, historian and curator from Palais Galliera, as fashion curator; while fashion will be spearheaded by distinguished fashion editors Carine Roitfeld and Ib Kamara.

Artistic direction and choreography will be supervised by Parris Goebel, a New Zealand dancer and choreographer world-renowned for her work with Rihanna (including her Super Bowl halftime show), among other musicians and entertainers.

Dame Pat McGrath and Pat McGrath Labs are returning to lead makeup design and execution. For the third year, production will be overseen by Bureau Betak, and Vogue World’s livestream will be produced by Den of Thieves and directed by Sam Wrench, the director of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour film. Vogue is also set to collaborate with communications agencies Lucien Pagès and KCD Paris.

Sommet Education launches École Ducasse – Paris Campus : a new benchmark location for Culinary arts training

In conjunction with partner Ducasse Développement, Sommet Education, a leading worldwide network of prestigious higher education schools specializing in hotel management, customer experience, and the culinary and pastry arts, is creating the new École Ducasse – Paris Campus, an emblematic venue dedicated to teaching culinary and pastry arts.

An ultra-contemporary campus focused on culinary excellence, on transmission and on the promotion of world-renowned gastronomic know-how.

École Ducasse – Paris Campus is a unique 5,000 sqm space dedicated to tasting, located in Meudon-la-Forêt, 10km from the heart of Paris. Both the school building as well as its interior and exterior fittings were custom-designed by international agency Arte Charpentier Architectes (Oxygen Tower in Lyon, Shanghai Opera House, Véolia Environment Campus…), along with landlord Covivio. The interior design of the bar and the initiation restaurant was entrusted to Jouin Manku, an agency whose previous projects include the restaurant Alain Ducasse at the Plaza Athénée.

The site includes nine laboratories dedicated to culinary arts as well as to pastrymaking, baking, chocolate and ice cream; seven classrooms for academic courses (Finance, Marketing, Human Resources, etc.); a sensory analysis room dedicated to food and wine pairings and the discovery of new flavours; a knowledge centre; as well as several coworking areas. The kitchens will benefit from the fruit trees surrounding the school and aromatic plants grown in the vegetable garden.

The campus also has a store with a takeaway sales area and an initiation restaurant open to the public.

This all amounts to a high-quality environment and experiential territory in which everything is done to facilitate work and develop gustatory sensations

As Chef Alain Ducasse emphasizes: “With the opening of the Paris Campus, we are pursuing an essential mission that I believe is one of the most beautiful in the world: preparing the next generation and training leaders. This mission consists of transmitting excellence, respect for produce and seasonality, as well as the ability to recover from difficult contexts, all driven by a strong focus on perpetual reinvention.”

The school offers a wealth of varied programs including:

· A three-year Bachelor’s degrees in Culinary Arts and French Pastry Arts aimed at post-baccalaureate students and training them to become well-rounded and entrepreneurial chefs. This year, the Bachelor’s degrees are endorsed by Jessica Préalpato, Pastry Chef, Alain Ducasse, Plaza Athénée, nominated 2019 “World’s Best Pastry Chef” on the prestigious World’s 50 Best Restaurants list; and Romain Meder, Executive Chef, Alain Ducasse, Plaza Athénée.

· “Diploma” programs lasting several months and which enable students to specialize after completing their initial culinary or pastry course.

· “Essentials” programs, offering retraining opportunities for people wishing to change careers and become a chef.

· Training courses for professional chefs, including the participation of MOF and renowned chefs such as Christopher Coutanceau, Adrien Cachot, Chantal Wittmann (MOF) and Christophe Raoux (MOF).

Organized in small cohorts to ensure personalized transmission, programs are taught in French and English and last from two months to three years. All combine both academic and practical courses from managing an institution to searching for new trends, to finding the exact touch required to achieve excellence. Themes covered touch on all areas of the culinary and pastry arts and echo new culinary trends, from Green Gastronomy to vegetable-based and Mediterranean cuisine, as well as tableware and the sommelier’s art.

“Chef Alain Ducasse’s philosophy infuses our educational vision and the way we approach culinary and pastry transmission on a daily basis. Our primary objective is to train extremely well-rounded chefs with a very contemporary culinary vision, unique expertise and interpersonal skills, combined with outstanding technical know-how and a strong entrepreneurial culture” explains Elise Masurel, Managing Director, École Ducasse.

Renowned teachers and mentors

Programs are all taught by top-level Chef trainers (MOF, world champions, renowned Chefs and Pastry Chefs, etc.). The opening of the Paris Campus follows the appointment of a world reference in the world of gastronomy, Jacques Maximin, as Culinary Advisor and Chef in Residence. Students will have the privilege of being associated with the exclusive Chef in Residence dinners. In addition to this distinguished expert, two talented professionals acknowledged by their peers have been appointed: Thomas Guichard as Head of Training and Production and Guillaume Katola as Head of Restaurants.

” This new place of educational excellence is a perfect fit with our international network of prestigious schools and illustrates the development strategy to which we are committed,” says Benoît-Etienne Domenget, CEO Sommet Education.

Exclusive partnerships

“Moët Hennessy is very pleased to collaborate on this magnificent project with Ecole Ducasse, a long-standing partner with whom we share a pioneering spirit, the pursuit of excellence, and a mission to pass down our craft with a spirit of elegance and epicureanism”, commented Philippe Schaus, Chairman and CEO of Moët Hennessy.

The Master Blenders and Cellar Masters of our Maisons will train the students in the subtleties of food and wine pairings while sharing their expertise, enriched by our craftsmanship and three centuries of winemaking heritage.

In order to offer technical excellence and cutting-edge technology to the students, all laboratory equipment has been custom designed and installed by Electrolux Professional, a leading global provider of foodservice, beverage and laundry solutions for professional users, and a long-standing partner of Ducasse globally.

École Ducasse is a network of schools belonging to the Sommet Education, a major international education group for hospitality management and arts.
