Griffins International School conducts vaccination camp for Students

Griffins International School, Kharagpur today organized a vaccination drive for students belonging to the age group of 15–18 years, so that the children need not travel far. The vaccination camp was held in the school premises. A total number of 85 students, from GIS and from other schools have got their first dose of Covid vaccine at the camp. Over 150 students had already been vaccinated at health centres near their homes.  GIS has partnered with the Health Department of Government of West Bengal to conduct this vaccination drive at the school campus. The students were requested to carry their identity proof, original Aadhar card and a photocopy of it.

Mr. Abishek Yadav, Academic Director, Griffins International School, said, “At Griffins International School, we always give priority to the well-being of our students. We are thankful to the local administration and happy to organize the vaccination camp for the children of the eligible age group. The students were asked to be accompanied by their parents.  COVID-19 protocols were strictly followed with physical distancing, masks and frequent hand sensitisation. We also requested the students to carry their own sanitisers and water bottles. I am hopeful that the vaccination drive will bring relief to the parents, especially considering the recent rise in COVID cases.”

Griffins International School Commemorates Satyajit Ray Birth Centenary

Kolkata, 12th May 2021: Griffins International School, Kharagpur celebrated the birth centenary of Satyajit Ray, the legendary filmmaker, writer, composer, lyricist, and illustrator in a unique way.

The students of Griffins International School recreated some of the legendary characters like ‘Feluda’, ‘Professor Shonku’, ‘Gupi Gayen’, ‘Bagha Bayen’, ‘Apu and Durga’ to commemorate the 100th Birth anniversary of the creative genius Satyajit Ray. A short video was made with all the performances.

During this pandemic, children are confined to their homes but they enthusiastically participated in online rehearsal and enjoyed the creative journey on the digital platform.

Mrs. Sarbari Brahma, Principal, Griffins International School, said, “The legendary Satyajit Ray has written several books for children and made many films which are both entertaining and principled. We always inspire our students to know this towering personality through his creations. Our children paid their tribute to the legend by recreating the famous characters.”

The little Gupi Gayen (Samparka Manna of class V) and the little Bagha Bayen (Ayan Das of class six) were visibly delighted and they said, “We are missing our school very much. But celebrating the birth anniversary of Satyajit Ray was a great excitement for all of us. We have thoroughly enjoyed playing the roles of Gupi Gayen and Bagha Bayen.”

But we could not let go the occasion of birth centenary of Satyajit Ray. We are happy that technology has helped us overcome many obstacles and our students commemorated the birth anniversary of the legend on digital platform and made us proud.”

Griffins International School launches Project “Earth Ambassador”

Kolkata: Griffins International School launches Project “Earth Ambassador” on Earth Day this year.

Earth Day is not just a day for cultural events at Griffins International School. It is an integrated part of the school curriculum to make the students climate educated.

Under this project “Earth Ambassadors” the dedicated students will spread awareness about Carbon Footprint, suggesting effective means to reduce it through simple yet effective manners.

As “Earth Ambassadors”, a group of enthusiastic students will take the campaign forward. The project is spearheaded by the principal Mrs. Sarbari Brahma and learned mentors Mr. Sourav Bhattacharya and Ms. Arpita Roy.

Under the ‘Paryavaran Sanrakshan Gatividhi’ program, Griffinites created Eco bricks in order to spread awareness towards creating a plastic free and safe planet for the future generations.

An Eco brick is a plastic bottle packed with used plastic. They serve as reusable building blocks. Eco bricks can build furniture, gardens, play parks, structures and more.

Mr. Abishek Yadav, Chairman, Griffins International School, commented, “The earth is all that we have in common. Let us encourage these young ambassadors and act with them to make Earth a better place to live for the future generations.”

”Eco-bricks prevent plastic waste from disrupting the ecosystem and create an ecological consciousness against plastic. It saves the earth from being infertile. It reduces the cost of manpower and the usage of machinery. Our children are making Eco-bricks with plastic bottles. We hope one day this baby step will shape up the future of environment-awareness among children” – Mr. Yadav added.
