Hyderabad, June 29, 2024…..FTCCI(Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry) organized an interactive meeting on Business Opportunities in Africa on Friday at Hotel Hyatt Place, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad.

Africa, with its rich natural resources and rapidly developing sectors, presents a wealth of business possibilities Today’s event is an opportunity for potential investors who have a keen interest in harnessing the potential of Africa’s dynamic business environment, said Meela Jayadev of FTCCI in his presidential address.

Since most of the African countries are vying with each other to develop and improve the standards of living of people, the countries are focusing on infrastructure development and creating facilities to attract investors globally, Meela Jayadev said

Mr. A. K. Pramod Kumar Kathigasu, Business Development Head – AP & Telangana, Arise Integrated Industrial Platform explained in detail the various opportunities. Another advantage is, goods can be exported to Europe from Africa at zero tax. This provides a huge opportunity for investors to get high returns and expand, he said.

Africa is a fast-growing continent and many international investors recognize that there is enough of money to be earned there. This program was organized to create awareness of investment opportunities in Africa. The general impression that still prevails in many people is that Africa is still an underdeveloped country. That poverty is very high, people are not highly educated. Several countries in Africa have undergone economic reforms and are one of the best places to invest, when compared to other countries in other regions, said Srinivas Garimella, Chair of the Industrial Development Committee.

Hyderabad, June 13, 2024…The Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTCCI), 107 years old and one of India’s most dynamic regional chambers, announced its next edition of Excellence Awards. The entries are open now and are invited from entrepreneurs for their work done in Telangana.

The awards will be presented by the Chief Minister of Telangana, Mr Revanth Reddy Garu. Mr Meela Jayadev, President of FTCCI said.

The awards promote the spirit of entrepreneurship. These were initiated in 1974 and are continued year after year uninterruptedly, announced Mr Meela Jayadev, President of FTCCI, addressing a press conference at Federation House in Red Hills on Thursday.

Suresh Kumar Singhal, Senior Vice President of FTCCI informed that FTCCI as an apex body of Industry, Commerce and Trade recognizes those companies known for quality production, excellent growth and those who contribute to the GDP of the state will be chosen for the awards.

Awards have more credibility when instituted by distinguished organizations like FTCCI. The award will boost morale, improve quality, and production, and earn good recognition for the company, added Meela Jayadev.

The jury is headed by Sri Mr. Karunendra S. Jasti, Chairman, of the FTCCI Excellence Awards Committee, Chairman and Ramakanth Inani as Co-Chairman. Speaking on the occasion he said, these awards are different as they are given by the apex body of trade in the state of Telangana. Hence, are highly sought after and respected. The awards are judged by a jury composed of Justice Sri Challa Kodanda Ram, M Gopal Krishna, IAS & Ajay Mishra, IAS; Uday B Desai, Founding Director IIT Hyd and Ms. Vanitha Datla, MD of Elico. A recognition by FTCCI is highly rewarded and recognized, he added.

Some of the areas where awards will be given are Exports, Marketing, Innovation, R&D Technology, Information Technology, Employee Welfare, Aerospace and Defence, Tourism Promotion, Individuals – Scientist/Engineer, Woman Entrepreneur, Differently Abled Person and Social Entrepreneur, shared Mr. Ramakath Inani.

Mr. Jasti informed me that the ‘Start-Up’ category was instituted last year. This year two new categories added are Digital Transformation by Enterprises and ESG performance to go along with the sustainable development goals which make up 21 categories in total.

The committee is hopeful of getting 200 entries. There is a nominal entry fee. The fee is exempted for two categories under the Outstanding Self-Sustaining Effort by a Differently Abled Person Award category and the Science & Engineering Category added by Mr Jasti.

Srinivas Garimella, Chairman of the Industrial Development Committee who spoke virtually said that the entire process is digitized and it will be very transparent.

Hyderabad, June 06, 2024….Multi-Stakeholder Roundtable conference on Ethical Business Practices and Integrity in Healthcare through collective action was held at FTCCI in the city on Thursday at its premises.

It was organised by UN Global Compact Network India, a UN body, which is a voluntary and strategic initiative that supports Indian companies, SMEs, Institutions, media houses, corporate foundations, and industry chambers that are committed to responsible business practices to institutionalise the Ten Universal Principles of UN Global Compact covering: Human Rights, Labour, Environment and Anti-Corruption.

It was organised in collaboration with FTCCI, an outreach partner and Kapiti Group, a knowledge partner.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest, Dr Jayaprakash Narayan, a retired bureaucrat said the Round Table was timely and need of the hour. He appreciated the organisers for the same.

63 million Indians are pushed into poverty by health expenses each year. They are unable to access healthcare delivery. Affordability is also a big issue, he said. When people don’t get necessary things like access to quality healthcare, they are not worried about economic growth. And that was reflected in the recent poll verdict, which was a cry of despair.

India spends just 1.2% of its GDP on Healthcare. Despite long years of governance, successive governments couldn’t take it to 2% and we can’t expect any such increase shortly. America spends 18% of its GDP. The United States has the highest health spending based on GDP share among developed countries. The UK spends in the range of 12%, he informed.

Though the country spends the largest amounts on education and health care, still we are unable to get any meaningful outcomes, Dr Jayaprakash Narayan added.

Dr Jayaprakash Narayan who is also a Founder of the Foundation for Democratic Reforms said that professional regulation has failed in India. The Unions of these professionals are safeguarding their interests. At the same time regulation is also a problem. India needs a well-conceived professional regulatory mechanism.

Dr Ratnesh Jha, Executive Director, UN Global Compact Network India, delivered a keynote address. He said the Network, acts as an Apex-level nodal agency representing various Indian Corporate bodies/ Institutions/ NGOs/ SMEs, who are committed to the UN Global Compact principles. The Global Compact Network India has been one of the pioneering local initiatives of the Global Compact. We are the custodians of SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) in India. This round table is organised to explore how we can make healthcare more accessible and less corrupt he said.

Dr Somnath Singh, Deputy Director of UN Global Compact Network India gave an overview of their operations and areas of concern.

Dr Suresh Kapiti, MD and CEO, Kapiti Overseas Pvt. Ltd while delivering welcome address said that they were committed to creating impactful solutions that address global challenges, improve quality of life, and promote environmental stewardship.

The inaugural function of the Round Table was graced by Mr. Meela Jayadev, President of FTCCI, Mr. Ashok Singha, Sr. V.P of FTCCI and Tarakeswari Polaki, Founder and Director of Kapiti Group.

Hyderabad, January 27, 2024 – The Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FTCCI), announced the commencement of a six-day “Certificate Program on Export & Import Management.” This program, sponsored by The Ministry of Commerce & Industry under the Market Access Initiative for Capacity Building, is set to equip 67 business owners from the Leather Industry with essential skills and knowledge in international trade.

The training program is being hosted at the FTCCI Pokarna Skill Centre and is part of FTCCI’s commitment to fostering growth and competitiveness in the export and import sectors. The inauguration ceremony held on Saturday was graced by FTCCI’s President, Mr. Meela Jayadev, who emphasized the significance of capacity building in the current economic landscape.

Mr. Jayadev highlighted the importance of the Leather Industry and urged businesses in priority sectors such as food items, handicrafts, handlooms, GI Products, carpets, leather, sports goods & toys, silk, wool, jute, and minor forest produce to actively participate in such capacity-building initiatives. He emphasized the role of training programs in enhancing expertise and ensuring success in global trade.

This training program is just the beginning of FTCCI’s broader initiative to organize four similar programs in Medak, Guntur, Khammam, and Mahabubnagar Districts. By expanding its reach, FTCCI aims to empower businesses across diverse regions to thrive in the dynamic world of international trade.
