Chinmaya Vidyalaya Higher Secondary School Kattakkada Wins Honour at KIMSHEALTH Cancer Prevention Campaign

Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 18: School students from the different parts of Thiruvananthapuram, presented innovative ideas for cancer prevention as part of the “Fight Against Cancer Together” (FACT) campaign organized as part of the CSR initiative by KIMSHEALTH. ‘FACT’ aims to encourage them to develop innovative concepts, engage the public, and utilize social media to dispel myths and spread accurate information about cancer prevention and early detection.. Students from 19 schools belonging from classes VIII to X participated in the month-long campaign, presenting novel projects.

Chinmaya Vidyalaya Higher Secondary School Kattakkada, secured the first prize, worth Rs. 1 lakh, along with an ever-rolling trophy, Sarvodaya Vidyalaya (ICSE) Nalanchira, won the second prize of Rs. 50,000, and L’école Chempaka Serene Valley Kallayam, received the third prize of Rs. 25,000. The other participating schools received a cash prize of Rs.5,000 each. Dr. M I Sahadulla, Chairman and managing Director, KIMSHEALTH, distributed the prizes to the students at an event held at KIMSHEALTH Trivandrum.

As part of the campaign the students staged street drams conveying the importance of empowering communities in the fight against cancer. An app, ‘Care Connect’, was developed by them, aimed at linking cancer patients with KIMSHEALTH, to ensure support is accessible with just a tap.

In his address Dr.Sahadulla said that the fight against cancer does not begin in the hospitals; it begins in classrooms, in choices and in young minds that choose health over harm. Reshmi Aysha, CEO, KIMSHEALTH Cancer Centre and CSR, Dr. P M Zuhara, Director – Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine and Pharmacy Services and Dr. Gopinatha Menon, Senior Consultant, Department of Internal Medicine were also part of the event.
