Roorkee, Mar 12: The Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) is set to host Cognizance 2026, its flagship annual technical festival, from March 13 to March 15, 2026, bringing together thousands of young innovators, technologists, and creative thinkers from across the country for three days of innovation, competition, and collaboration. Widely recognized as Asia’s second-largest technical festival, Cognizance continues to serve as a vibrant platform for technological exploration, collaborative learning, and innovation-driven competition.
The 2026 edition, themed “Empyrean Technogenesis,” reflects the transformative role of technology in shaping the future of society. The three-day festival is expected to attract over 25,000 participants from more than 3,000 colleges, offering them an opportunity to engage with cutting-edge technologies, interdisciplinary challenges, and real-world innovation ecosystems.
Organized by the students of IIT Roorkee, Cognizance has evolved into one of the largest student-driven technical festivals in Asia, fostering a culture of creativity, innovation, and technological excellence.
Cognizance 2026 will feature more than 50 competitions and technical events, including flagship contests such as Armageddon, Flight Fury, Scythe CTF, and InnovWave, designed to test participants’ creativity, engineering skills, and problem-solving capabilities. With an overall prize pool exceeding INR 50 lakh, the festival aims to inspire young minds to push the boundaries of technological innovation.
The festival will also host over 15 industry-led workshops and expert sessions conducted by leading organizations such as Microsoft, Myntra, Meesho, and American Express, providing participants with valuable exposure to emerging technologies, industry insights, and entrepreneurial opportunities. Cognizance 2026 is supported by prominent partners and initiatives including Make in India, Skill India, HiLabs, JioSaavn, The Coca-Cola Company, and BenQ, reflecting strong industry–academia collaboration.
Beyond technological competitions, Cognizance 2026 also emphasizes social responsibility and community engagement, promoting awareness on environmental sustainability, menstrual health, and rural education, thereby encouraging participants to leverage technology for meaningful societal impact.

Adding to the excitement, the festival will feature the much-anticipated Pro-Nights, offering high-energy performances and entertainment experiences. Previous editions have hosted renowned artists including Jubin Nautiyal, Amit Trivedi, Mohit Chauhan, and Guru Randhawa, making Cognizance a celebration that blends technology, creativity, and culture.
