Hungama Play announces its new original series – Swaanng, a suspense drama, featuring the most popular names in Indian Television
10th March 2022: Hungama Play, a leading OTT platform owned by Hungama Digital Media, has launched its latest Hindi original series Swaanng. The series is headlined by some of the biggest names from the Indian television industry such as Anushka Sen, Hiten Tejwani, Mansi Srivastava, Anurag Sharma, and Alan Kapoor.. The crime thriller revolves around the lives of two sisters who go above and beyond their age to expose a major crime. Shot in the lush landscapes of the Himalayas., Produced by ABUZS Original, the series is directed by Nitesh Singh. Added to the star-studded cast, the show features Prakash Ramchandani, Avdhesh Kushwaha, Nikhil Lulani, and Samaira Walia in pivotal roles.
Muskaan (Anushka Sen) lives with her sister, Dimple in an orphanage. The discovery of a lost camera leads the sisters to explore their passion for photography but unbeknownst to them, that camera also hides shocking secrets that can tear apart their idyllic town. On the verge of finding success with ample help from Manohar Pincha (Hiten Tejwani), a local academician, and Preeti (Mansi Srivastava), an NGO worker, Muskaan’s world falls apart when Dimple disappears without a trace. Her deepest fears come true when Dimple’s disappearance is linked with the mysterious disappearance and murders of several other young girls. Investigations led by Inspector Balram (Anurag Sharma) and news reporter, Sayan Sharma (Alan Kapoor) reveal the existence of a larger conspiracy but is Balram really a good cop or is he putting on an act for the world? Why is Sayan so interested in this case even though he is not from that town? Why does Preeti keep meeting Manohar repeatedly? And what role does Manohar play in Muskaan’s life? Anushka Sen, who has been critically acclaimed for her versatile roles, said, “It’s great to be part of a crime-thriller that leaves the audience guessing. Hiten Tejwani, one of the most recognizable names from the Indian television industry, is equally excited to be a part of the series. Speaking about shooting in the lush green valleys of Himalayas, Mansi Srivastava mentions, “It’s got mystery, crime, brilliant actors, beautiful locations and much more. There’s no reason why Swaanng won’t engross the viewer. I enjoyed each day with the cast and crew as filming in defined sets and locations had become a part of our daily routine. Being outdoors here broke the monotony and made it more exciting for everyone involved on the show.”
Having played a host of versatile roles, Anurag Sharma is back with another engaging character. He says, “Balram’s character is one that viewers will constantly have an eye on. After all, no one knows whose side he belongs to till the very end. From everyone being allegedly involved in the investigation, or their many shades hidden from the outside world, the plot has a grip on all actors. The demand to constantly improvise and try to better our characters is what we wish to deliver to our audience.”
Alan Kapoor, playing the character of a news reporter, asserts, “I believe Swaanng has the potential to rock the world of thriller and crime genre with its release.
