“As the world observes World Environment Day, it is important to recognize that the choices we make today have a lasting impact on the world around us. For architects, designers, and the students who will shape the built environment of tomorrow, this responsibility begins long before a building is constructed. It starts with the ideas we develop, the materials we choose, and the way we think about the relationship between people and their environment.
This is especially important when we consider that buildings and construction account for nearly 37% of global energy-related carbon emissions. As our cities continue to grow, the need for thoughtful and sustainable design has never been greater. Creating environmentally conscious spaces is no longer an option, it is becoming an integral part of good design.
At VESCOA, we encourage our students to look beyond aesthetics and understand the broader impact of their work. On World Environment Day, we hope to inspire future architects to create spaces that are not only functional and meaningful but also contribute positively to the environment and the communities they serve.”
