National Design Centre to host Yoga themed Special Handloom Expo at Janpath from June 20

New Delhi: In celebration of International Yoga Day on June 21, the National Design Centre, with support of Development Commissioner (Handlooms), Ministry of Textiles, is set to organize a week-long Special Handloom Expo” from June 20 to 27, 2025 at Handloom Haat, Janpath, New Delhi. The exhibition will remain open to the public daily from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

This unique edition of the expo will focus exclusively on handloom products designed to complement the yogic lifestyle, reflecting India’s commitment to holistic health, sustainability, and traditional craftsmanship. The event aims to showcase how ancient Indian weaving techniques are being reimagined to support modern wellness practices like yoga and meditation.

Around 20 artisans and weavers from across the country will participate, showcasing handmade, eco-friendly products such as handloom yoga mats, khadi and cotton meditation sheets, naturally dyed garments, and printed kurtas.

The event not only highlights India’s artistic heritage but also emphasizes sustainable and self-reliant living. Visitors will have the opportunity to purchase authentic handloom items and engage directly with the artisans, gaining insights into their intricate craft.

The initiative is a key step by the Ministry of Textiles and the National Design Centre towards reviving the Indian handloom sector, empowering traditional craftsmen, and promoting India’s indigenous products on a global platform, further supporting the vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’.
