English and Sanskrit: A Golden Opportunity for Students, Says Dr. Birbal Jha

Madhubani, September 30, 2024 — The development of the English language has been significantly influenced by Sanskrit, with many English words tracing their roots back to Sanskrit. For instance, the English word “love” originates from the Sanskrit root “lavyante.” English has evolved due to its flexibility, making it a global language today.

Dr. Birbal Jha (2)

Renowned author and educator Dr. Birbal Jha, while speaking at an event in Madhubani, highlighted the importance of learning both English and Sanskrit. He emphasized that mastering both languages not only enhances personal growth but also paves the way for promising career opportunities. “Combining the knowledge of Sanskrit and English is like adding gold to success,” Dr. Jha remarked.

Addressing the students of ‘Lakshmivati Gurukul’ in Sarisavpahi, Madhubani, Dr. Jha explained the significance of Sanskrit, often referred to as the “language of the gods,” believed to have been created by Lord Brahma. On the other hand, English has become the world’s lingua franca. It dominates fields ranging from business and diplomacy to science, technology, and entertainment. Dr. Jha stressed that learning English is now essential for securing better jobs both in India and abroad. He added that the combination of English and Sanskrit will provide students with a competitive edge.

Many students at the Gurukul, according to Dr. Jha, have expressed interest in learning English alongside Sanskrit. Through online classes provided by British Lingua, they will soon begin mastering both languages, setting them on a path to greater career success.

Dr. Birbal Jha (2)

Known as the “Youngest Living Legend of Mithila,” Dr. Birbal Jha emphasized that a strong society is built by strong individuals. He encouraged students to become the best versions of themselves, which will, in turn, create a better society.

Dr. Jha, who hails from a rural background himself, understands the challenges faced by children in remote areas. He has been running programs aimed at improving spoken English skills in rural children, equipping them with the tools needed for employment.

Acharya Rupesh Jha, the director of the Gurukul, praised Dr. Birbal Jha’s efforts, stating that his initiatives have brought revolutionary changes to the employment landscape in Mithila. During the event, Dr. Jha was honored with traditional gifts, including the ceremonial “Pag” and “Dopta,” by the Gurukul students, who welcomed him with Vedic chants.

CM Revanth Reddy to inaugurate the three-day G-SPARC 2024

Chief Minister to launch the state AMR plan during the conference. Just six states in India have this plan in place and once the plan is launched Telangana will be the 7th state in India

Hyderabad, September 30, 2024…… The Telangana Chief Minister Shri A Revanth Reddy, is to be the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of the prestigious three-day conference Global South Conference on Infection Prevention, Control and Antimicrobial Stewardship.

Shri Damodar Rajanarsimha, the Minister for Health and Family Welfare will be the guest of honour.

Shri Revanth Reddy will inaugurate the conference and launch the state AMR Plan. Six states in India have this plan in place and once the plan is unveiled by the Chief Minister during the conference, Telangana is going to be the 7th state in India to have AMR plan in place.

The three-day conference will be held at Shilpakala Vedika in Hitech City, Madhapur in the city from 3rd to 5th October Dr Ranga Reddy Burri, President, Infection Control Academy and Chair, G-SPARC and R. Govind Hari, Chairman of the Pragyaan Sustainable Health Outcomes Foundation (PRASHO), and Co-chair, G-SPARC informed in a press conference held on Monday in the city.

R. Govind Hari and Ranga Reddy Burri

The objective of the conference, according to them, is to provide a platform for Infection Prevention and Control (IPC), Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) and Patient Safety stakeholders from Global South (resource-limited countries in Asia, Africa, Middle East, South America) to collaborate for better policies, research, tailored solutions and practices on IPC, AMS and WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) and pandemic preparedness.

The organizers highlighted that antimicrobial resistance (AMR) impacts people of all ages and transcends borders, affecting every country. However, the burden is disproportionately heavier on developing nations and vulnerable populations. This necessitates tailored solutions to address the unique challenges faced by the Global South. Therefore, collaborative efforts and South-South cooperation are essential in tackling global health threats like AMR.

Some of the prominent speakers at the conference include Dr Anuj Sharma, WHO India Office; Prof Chedly Azzouz, Chairperson, Infection Control Africa Network; Prof. (Dr.) Atul Goel, DGHS & Director, National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC); Ms Shailaja Teacher, MLA and Former-Health Minister, Govt of Kerala

G-SPARC 2024 is organized by the Infection Control Academy of India (IFCAI), University of Hyderabad (UoH), and Pragyaan Sustainable Health Outcomes Foundation (PRASHO) with support from more than a hundred distinguished partners from academia, industry, healthcare organizations, and professional associations.

Addressing a press conference at FTCCI in Red Hills Dr Ranga Reddy said, covid is nothing compared to ‘AMR”. Covid had a beginning and end. AMR is not like that. It is a slow pandemic and it will be an eternal pandemic.

Due to the excessive usage of Antibiotics, even easily treatable diseases like Typhoid have become impossible to treat. AMR is invisible. 5 million have already died due to this and several million will be losing their lives.

Due to the ineffectiveness of the antibiotics, every second infection treatment is failing in India and Africa, Ranga Reddy said.

AMR is threatening our health systems in ways that we cannot even imagine. This silent pandemic is the indiscriminate usage of antibiotics. Eight lakh people are dying each year in India because of not being treated with antibiotics. And this is likely to increase by 10 million deaths each year. This number may go up to 1 crore by 2050. Modern medicine may be in danger of extinction due to bacterial resistance infections. The excessive use of Antibiotics and PainKillers is very dangerous. Since 1929 when Prof Alexander Fleming discovered antibiotics i.e Penicillin, within 90-plus years different types of antibiotics were developed/produced. Now we are using the 6th generation of Antibiotics. Minimize the use of antibiotics and painkillers. We need to seek alternative measures, he said. The experts attending G-SPARC 2024 will deliberate these many other things, he added.

Dr Ranga Reddy and Govind Hari welcomed the Nations General Assembly (UNGA)’s recent decision to reduce human deaths from AMR by 10% by 2030

The outcome marks a significant milestone in our fight against antimicrobial resistance (AMR), they added

AMR containment is everyone’s business. Every citizen has a role to play in protecting the efficacy of antibiotics

An action plan on AMR by the state government will be released during the conference. A white paper on pandemic preparedness, prevention of pandemics etc will be released at the end of the conference.

The Government of Telangana recognised the importance of this conference and sponsored the venue, ‘Shilpakalavedika’, informed R. Govind Hari

Over 1600 (sixteen hundred) delegates are expected to participate and deliberate.

Innovative Applications of Mustard Flour in the Food Industry

MUSTARD FLOUR

Introduction

Mustard flour, derived from ground mustard seeds, has been a staple ingredient in various cuisines for centuries. Traditionally used as a spice, its unique flavor profile and nutritional benefits have garnered renewed interest, leading to innovative applications in the food industry. As consumers increasingly seek natural, health-conscious alternatives to artificial additives and preservatives, mustard flour emerges as a versatile ingredient that can enhance flavor, improve nutritional profiles, and contribute to sustainable food practices. This article explores the innovative applications of mustard flour in the food industry, highlighting its uses in various products and its potential to transform culinary practices.

Nutritional Benefits of Mustard Flour

Before diving into its applications, it is essential to understand the nutritional benefits that mustard flour brings to the table. Mustard seeds are rich in protein, fiber, and essential fatty acids. They contain significant amounts of vitamins and minerals, including vitamin E, magnesium, selenium, and phosphorus as per report published by Persistence Market Research. Moreover, mustard flour is low in carbohydrates and has a low glycemic index, making it an excellent choice for health-conscious consumers.

Additionally, mustard flour possesses antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties due to the presence of compounds like glucosinolates. These compounds may contribute to reducing the risk of chronic diseases, making mustard flour a valuable addition to a balanced diet. As a result, the food industry is increasingly incorporating mustard flour into a variety of products, capitalizing on its health benefits while meeting consumer demands for wholesome ingredients.

Innovative Applications in the Food Industry

1. Gluten-Free Baking

One of the most promising applications of mustard flour is in gluten-free baking. With the rising prevalence of gluten intolerance and celiac disease, the demand for gluten-free products has surged. Mustard flour can serve as a gluten substitute, providing structure and texture to baked goods. Its high protein and fiber content also contribute to improved moisture retention and shelf life.

Innovative bakers are experimenting with mustard flour in recipes for bread, muffins, and cakes. For instance, adding mustard flour to gluten-free bread mixes can enhance flavor and texture while providing additional nutritional benefits.
