TFMC’s Handloom Mela promoting Handloom Monday in IT offices is back

Seen are IT Employees at one of the Handloom Mela organsied by TFMC in the past

Hyderabad, January 07, 2023…..TFMC (Telangana Facilities Management Council)’s Handloom Mela promoting Handloom Monday in IT offices is back. The 20th edition of the mela will be held at Ground Floor Food Court, GALAXY, Opp IKEA, Next to T-Hub, Knowledge City Raidurg, Hyderabad from 10th January till 12th January for about 3 days.

It will display Gadwal Pochampally, Siddipet, IKKAT Pattu Sarees, Handicraft Products, Handloom Kurtas, and many more. It will be open all three days during office hours. About 5000 IT employees and others are expected to visit the mela in the three days.

TFMC aims to organise 11 melas in the year 2023. And reach about 4 lahks, IT employees. Through these meals, we will help the Handloom Sector sell clothes worth Rs 4 crore, informed Mr. Satyanarayana Mathala, President of TFMC in a press note issued in the city today. We would like to organise one Handloom Mela in every IT Park.

Organising Handloom Melas in IT offices, facilities and Parks was an initiative TFMC embarked in the year 2017. Since then, barring two years of the corona, five lakh IT employees were reached and awareness for handloom textiles was created. Almost all Meals were a huge hit with IT employees, added Satya.

Handloom Monday was a call given by Mr. K.T. Rama Rao, Minister for IT, Govt of Telangana. It was an initiative to promote Handlooms and Support Weavers Community by wearing Handloom Clothes Every Monday.

As part of this drive, TFMC has been organising Handloom Melas from time to time. As part of that drive, it has organised 19 Handloom Melas so far.

Work From Home, Office, Village or Work from Anywhere, or work in Hybrid Mode, but wear ‘Handlooms Every Monday’ tells Telangana Facilities Management Council to all the IT employees. Several Facilities Management professionals and IT employees wearing Handloom clothes, and blazers will grace the mela.

TFMC is the only body that has been taking forward the call given by K.T. Rama Rao. TFMC has organised 19 Handloom exhibitions at various IT facilities across the city. Through this mela, TFMC is reviving its pledge to support Handlooms and Weavers and promote them.

Apollo Hospital Seshadripuram Introduces India’s First High-end Early Prostate Cancer Detection Technology

Bangalore, Jan 7, 2023: Adding another feather to its hat of achievements, Apollo Hospital Seshadripuram brings in India’s very first prostate cancer diagnosis breakthrough – MRI Fusion TRUS guided Trans-Perineal Targeted Biopsy, a novel technology that enhances the accuracy of cancer detection by 95% to 97% which was impossible to achieve with conventional diagnostic methods. Dr. Manohar T, Chief of Urology, Uro Oncology & kidney Transplantation Laser, Laparoscopic, Transplant, and robotic surgeon at Apollo Hospital Seshadripuram and Director, of Apollo Institute of renal sciences (AIRS) is the first doctor in the country to successfully conduct 42 procedures using MRI Fusion TRUS guided Trans-Perineal Targeted Biopsy.

In this unique procedure one has to undergo multi-parametric magnetic resonance imaging (mpMRI) and contouring of the lesions which are suspected to be cancerous and prostate size is marked via a special software pack. The image is then transferred to the special ultrasound done transrectally. The ultrasound probes assess the longitudinal and cross-sectional images of the target lesions. Keeping the target in situ, a small bore needle is passed perineally (the area between the scrotum and the anus) via a grid (brachytherapy) for a more accurate yield of tissue for examination. In this method, one can do sector biopsies and saturation biopsies depending on the size of the prostate and in addition target biopsies to accurately diagnose the lesion with minimal sampling. The procedure is conducted under local, regional, or general anesthesia.

Explaining the benefits of this latest technology, Dr. Manohar T, said: “Prostate cancer is the second most common and accounts for 7.1% of the total cancers in men and early diagnosis is critical in improving the outcomes. However, a delay in diagnosis may progress cancer into an advanced stage and the five-year survival rate significantly drops to 30%. Conventional investigation methods miss the diagnosis by 35-45%. The current biopsy method of TRUS biopsy which is done via the trans-rectal route and can lead to several infections still misses the diagnosis by 25%.

This new TRUS biopsy method done trans-perennially offers accuracy up to as much as 95 to 97%, have high specificity and sensitivity, prevents unnecessary biopsies, does not require the patients to be on pre-operational antibiotics or have any bowel preparations and most importantly, there is no risk of infection when the procedure is done through the perineal region.”

Adding on to the above benefits, Dr. Manohar pointed out that the MRI Fusion TRUS guided Trans-Perineal Targeted Biopsy method can access both the halves –upper and lower – of the prostate for targeting lesions and detecting if they are cancerous or not, unlike the procedure that is done trans-rectally which can cover only the lower half of the prostate. Also, this method can pick up cancers as small as 2mm, making the detection at the extremely initial stage of cancer a reality, thereby considerably enhancing the treatment outcomes.

“Surgeons require extensive training before performing this procedure as it requires immense technical skills and expertise,” Dr. Manohar T said.

ICAI organizes National Education Summit on Commerce & Accountancy (NES-CA)

New Delhi, Friday, 7th January 2023: The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) through its Board of Studies (Academic) is organising a National Education Summit on Commerce & Accountancy (NES-CA) on 6th & 7th January 2023 at New Delhi.

The 2-day summit was inaugurated today by Dr. Subhas Sarkar, Hon’ble Minister of State for Education and Dr. Bhagwat Kishanrao Karad, Minister of State for Finance delivered a keynote address. Also present was CA. (Dr.) Debashis Mitra, President, ICAI; CA. T N Manoharan, Past President, ICAI; CA. Dayaniwas Sharma, Chairman, Board of Studies, ICAI; CA. Vishal Doshi, Vice-Chairman, Board of Studies, ICAI, and other delegates.

NES-CA aims to standardize Commerce & Accounting education at Higher Secondary and Undergraduate levels of schools/colleges/universities across India. ICAI has partnered with the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), and the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) for this NES-CA Summit.

While addressing the audience during the inaugural ceremony, the Chief Guest Dr. Subhas Sarkar, Hon’ble Minister of State for Education appreciated the “ICAI’s efforts towards making India financially literate in line with the Government of India’s mission on Financial Literacy or Vittiya Saksharta which is also one of the most important sustainable development goals promoted by the G-20 nations.”

He urged the academic institutions/universities to adopt the ICAI Exemplar for making commerce education One India, One Accounting, and One World. He extended his greetings to the entire ICAI family. He said that this Institution will continue to carry forward its work and will play a vital role in the growth and development of our nation, our BHARAT.

Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Bhagwat Kishanrao Karad, Minister of State for Finance said “At the outset, I am very glad that ICAI has taken the initiative to host this National Education Summit on Commerce and Accountancy (NES-CA), bringing together Vice Chancellors of Universities, and Commissioner and Secretaries of State Board of Education across India to give a fillip to commerce education in India.”

The Hon’ble Minister further stated that “Prime Minister’s vision of creating a “Vishwa Manav” or Global Citizen has been incorporated in the NEP 2020. He emphasized the significance of skill-based education in which more emphasis is given on conceptual understanding vis-a-vis rote learning.” He stated that ICAI has developed Model Curriculum 2023 for commerce education at the senior secondary level and undergraduate commerce courses titled “ICAI Exemplar: Preparing Future Ready Commerce Graduates”. I feel that that the uniform Model Curriculum 2023 so designed will significantly enhance the standard of commerce education.

This Summit is being attended by Vice Chancellors, Directors, Deans, Principals, HODs, Chairmen, & Professors from top Commerce universities & colleges and Secretaries of State Education Boards from over 25 States. Leading Academicians and experts from the field of Commerce and Accounting will address various sessions on contemporary topics like the Role of Commerce Education in Skilling Youth for $5 Trillion Economy, Indian Accountants Rising to Global Demand, and more.

Delivering the Presidential Address CA. (Dr.) Debashis Mitra, President of, ICAI said that “The Institute has always been a partner in nation-building supporting the various initiatives of the Government. He emphasized the important role of ICAI as a standard-setter, regulator, educator, and examiner.”

President, ICAI added “ICAI as an Educator collaborates and works shoulder to shoulder with all the academic institutions/universities. He drew reference to the Honourable Supreme Court’s appreciation of the manner of conduct of examination by ICAI. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India aspires to be the leading accounting body by 2030.”

CA. Aniket S Talati, Vice President, ICAI began his address by mentioning that “The Institute would be entering its 75th year and ICAI has been contributing significantly in the economic growth of the country. He further stated that India has been the technological capital and now is becoming the accounting hub of the world.” He said that the line between science and commerce is getting blurred and technology has penetrated into the accounting area. He added that this Summit has specific technical sessions analyzing the impact of technology in the field of education.

LEAD acquires Pearson’s local K-12 learning business in India

Bangalore, January 2023: LEAD, India’s largest School Edtech company, today announced that it has entered into an agreement with Pearson, the world’s leading learning company, to acquire its local K-12 learning business in India. With this acquisition, LEAD will immediately expand its reach to over 9000 schools and will further enhance its product portfolio to cater to the entire spectrum of 5 lakh+ private schools in India.

In its K-12 learning portfolio, Pearson India caters to private, English medium CBSE and ICSE schools offering high quality blended learning solutions (books + digital) ensuring learning continuity at home; and teacher resources. LEAD’s acquisition of Pearson’s local K-12 learning business in India is being funded through a combination of new fundraise and internal accruals. The acquisition, which has been approved by the Board of Directors of both companies, is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to be completed by Q1 CY 2023. EY was the exclusive financial advisor to LEAD on the transaction.
