JKLU’s International Conference ICSFIE 2022 comes to an end; panelists laud online learning for innovation & diversification

February 28, 2022: Leading technical university JK Lakshmipat University (JKLU), Jaipur, brought the curtain down on its two-day International Conference on “Sustainable Future : Innovations in Education” (ICSFIE 2022). For the mega event, JKLU collaborated with St. Cloud State University, USA and AIC-JKLU and it saw the attendance of more than 1000 viewers and 22 speakers across the globe. The conference received 70+ research submissions out of which 48 promising works were presented.

The second day started with a Keynote Session by eminent speakers from the USA. The speakers shared their views on “Future Trends in Engineering Education” and discussed how human-centred education and automation is changing the future of education. The keynote session was followed by multiple sessions which focused on the role of ed-tech in education, new and emerging ed-tech start-ups, models for financing education and much more along the theme of inclusive education.

In continuation to a pre-conference event Webinar on “Innovation in School Education,” the conference had a special session where seven selected case studies from school educators were presented again. The panellists from India and abroad pitched ideas and debated on how education has and will change in the coming future.

The concluding day’s Guest of Honour Dr Pramath Raj Sinha, Founding Dean, ISB Hyderabad, said online and blended education is the way forward and over time, ‘online learning’ will be replaced with only ‘learning’. “In today’s time, online learning is fundamental. When the printed book was introduced, nobody imagined books as a way to educate. But, slowly and steadily printed books started to become mainstream in education. Even when it comes to online education, we hear same kind of scepticism. Moreover, the education in university may be limited in how much it can teach and what all it can teach. But with online learning, many innovations can be achieved,” Dr Sinha added.

Prof Ajit Chaturvedi, Director, IIT Roorkee, who was the Chief Guest, said online learning bridged the gap in the education system and brought diversity in education. “The kind of respect that online learning has acquired in the last few years was completely unthinkable. Before 2020, we always thought that yes, this mode is available, and maybe once in a while 10% or 15% can use it; but the kind of influence it has had in the last few years is really commendable. At the same time, even in this misery we are able to reach out to people who would never have physically been able to come to the campus. So this is a new door that has opened. But I believe that there are some more doors that have opened up and I believe that, in the last one year, it has shown that it could solve one of the biggest problems of developing countries,” he added.

On sharing his takeaway from the 2-day conference, Prof Dheeraj Sanghi, Chairman of Conference Steering Committee & Vice Chancellor, JKLU, said, “So many people talked about how online is changing everything, how digital technologies are going to change, even more in the future and all that. What we need today is ethics, attitude, and problem solving skills. Few people talked about liberal arts, which is a strong component of education. Going forward, this will help you in learning, critical thinking, problem solving, and so on so forth.”

Prof A. Balasubramaniam, Director- Institute of Design, JKLU presented the vote of thanks to all the panellists, guests, participants and organisers for making the conference a big success. The conference was co-sponsored by BSE, Institution’s Innovation Council and Turnitin and had IIT Roorkee, IIT Gandhinagar, IIT Jammu, IIT Bhilai, MNIT Jaipur and Central University of Rajasthan as JKLU’s Academic Partners.

Simple lifestyle alteration to reduce acidity

-Mr. Joy Chatterjee, General Manager, Sales & Marketing, Mankind Pharma.

Acidity is a very common phenomenon that people many times do not take it seriously. It causes a painful, burning sensation in the lower part of the chest contributing to heartburn. While occasional acidity is not a matter of concern, chronic acidity on the other hand must not be overlooked according to health experts. Chronic acid reflux is indicative of an underlying medical conditions and precautions must be taken to avoid any future complications. One can adopt certain simple lifestyle alterations to control the condition in its nascent stage.

Let’s look at some lifestyle changes to get relief from acidity naturally.

1. Avoid overeating

Avoiding large meals can substantially help in minimizing the effect of acidity. There is a high probability that acid reflux takes place after a meal and a full stomach can increase the reflux into the esophagus. Hence, it is advised to eat sparingly and slowly. Eating small meals at regular intervals is considered better than having large three meals throughout the day.

2. Weight Loss

People facing acidity problems must consider losing weight. An increased weight disorients the muscular support to the lower esophageal sphincter this decreases the pressure required to keep the sphincter closed. Which is a major cause of reflux and heartburn. Thus, it is advisable to maintain a healthy weight.

3. Avoid alcohol

Excessive alcoholic consumption increases the amount of acid in the stomach which can worsen the symptoms of acid reflux. It not only relaxes the opening of the lower esophageal sphincter muscle but also intervenes with the esophagus ability to get rid of the acid. Reducing alcohol intake eases the symptoms of acid reflux. Along with alcohol, quitting smoking also helps nicotine in cigarettes relaxes the lower esophageal sphincter.

4. Limiting carbonated beverages

Consuming carbonated drinks increases the risk of acid reflux. Scientific evidence shows that carbonated beverages impair the lower esophageal sphincter functioning. The carbon dioxide present causes belching which increases the amount of stomach acid entering into the esophagus. Carbonated drinks cause burping that sends acid into the esophagus.

5. Drinking less citric juice

Citric juices themselves do not cause acid reflux, but they can temporarily worsen the symptoms in people experiencing acidity. The constituents in the citric juices can give rise to irritation in the esophageal lining. Hence, it is recommended for people with acidity to reduce the intake of citric juices.

6. Improvement in sleeping patterns and habits

Adopting healthy sleeping patterns can ease the frequency of acidity at night. Sleeping position is very important. Elevating the head of the bedding by 6 to 8 inches higher than the feet can significantly reduce the episodes and acid reflux at night.

Avoid sleeping immediately after eating. One requires a good gap of about 2-3 hours between the meal and bedtime. Remaining upright like standing or even sitting lets gravity work and keeps the acid in the stomach in place.

Try sleeping on the left side. Sleeping on the right side can cover the esophageal sphincter with stomach acid. It can increase the probability of stomach acid leaking into the sphincter causing reflux.

Acidity is a very common problem and there is nothing to worry about. But in case it occurs more than twice a week then people must make lifestyle and diet changes to reduce its effect naturally. People can even opt for Antacid Gas-O-Fast Sachets for quick, effective relief. It comes with real jeera and also highly packed with the goodness of Ayurveda that neutralizes the acid in few seconds of consumption. It gives quick relief from digestive problems like acidity, gas and indigestion.

Becky Hill Releases Brand New Single “Run” With Galantis

February 2022, London: Today Brit-award winning singer, songwriter and dance music trailblazer Becky Hill releases her brand-new single “Run” with Galantis.

The release of “Run” comes hot on the heels of the release of “Here For You” (Becky’s collaboration with Wilkinson written specifically for his album), and her winning “Best Dance Act” at BRIT Awards 2022 earlier this month. The fan-voted Award (which saw a long-awaited return of the Dance category, after a 16-year hiatus) was presented to an ecstatic Becky by her past collaborators David Guetta (who has hailed her as “one of the very rare queens of dance of music”) and Pete Tong.

“Run” is Becky’s first collaboration with Swedish EDM group Galantis. “Run” is written by Becky Hill, MNEK and written/produced by Galantis and was teased by Becky on TikTok on 18th February.

“I’m so excited to release Run with Galantis.” says Becky. “I wrote it with my best friend MNEK who I’ve been writing with for 10 years and the magic I felt when we first wrote my single Losing back in 2012, I still feel to this day when writing with him. I feel like every single I release has the potential to better the last one and this is no different, especially with Galantis featuring on the record too. With their catalogue of hits with the likes of Little Mix and Years & Years I’m very proud to be a part of another huge collaboration with them. This next phase of my artistry is an extension of me fully coming out as a popstar, but this time with a BRIT Award in hand!”

The accompanying music video for “Run” is directed by Michael Holyk and was shot in Cape Town, South Africa. Packed with stunning landscape shots, vibrant textures and contrasting moods, its sees Becky escape the run-of-the-mill day-to-day, to enjoy a romance in sunnier climes.

Becky’s collaborators on “Run”, Galantis, have enjoyed wide acclaim after the release of their debut album Pharmacy which topped the Billboard Dance album chart, garnered numerous platinum and gold RIAA certifications and two Grammy Nominations. The much-in-demand duo have collaborated with everyone from Dolly Parton, (on their third album Church), and Little Mix and David Guetta (on their 2021 summer smash “Heartbreak Anthem” which debuted at #1 on the Worldwide iTunes charts and spent 13 weeks in the Top 10 of the UK’s Official Chart top ten), to Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Katy Perry and Britney Spears.

The first of a string of releases due from Becky this year, brand new single “Run” is set to further cement her reputation as the Queen of Dance music after an incredible 2021. The third most streamed British female solo artist on Spotify last year (behind Dua Lipa and Adele), with the fifth most streamed song by a British female (with “Remember”), the release of Becky’s Top 10 debut album Only Honest On The Weekend, saw her score five Official Chart Top 40 singles and bring her BPI certification total to 9 x platinum, 4 x gold and 1 x silver.

In addition to releasing more music, Becky has a packed live schedule planned for 2022. Having proven herself a festival line-up must-have in 2021 (with stand-out sets at Reading & Leeds and a headline slot at Camp Bestival to name but a few), and selling over 50,000 tickets for her sold-out nationwide headline Only Honest On The Weekend Tour, Becky has already announced she’ll be performing at Creamfields South, NASS Festival, Neighbourhood Weekender and Camp Bestival.

With an irrefutable aptitude for writing chart-smashing pop songs and a reputation as a pioneer in the electronic music scene, Becky Hill is one of Britain’s most in-demand musical exports. She has over 180 songs registered with ASCAP – no mean feat considering only 17% of PRS for Music’s registered songwriters are female – and an impressive string of hits to her name. Having written and performed on fourteen singles which charted in the Top 40 of the UK Official Singles Chart (including four top 10 singles and one number 1), Becky has now amassed over 3.2 billion total global streams and over 17 million monthly listeners on Spotify.

Enhance your space with Naga Style Furniture from The Great Eastern Home

The Naga people comprising of 30 different tribes and spread over the the rugged terrains of north-east of India have traditionally lived-in self-reliant village settlements and have thus mastered crafts such as wood working, weaving, metal-working etc to provide for everyday objects such as beds, mats, stools, wooden dishes etc.  Using wood, bamboo, cane, bones, bark fibres, their furniture is reflective of their simple tools and natural environments.  Embellished with artistic expressions through wooden carvings, dyes etc they have created some of the most potent ritualistic art for everyday life and ceremony

Naga style furniture is usually made from a single piece of wood – without nails.  The simplicity and gravity of these pieces is palpable. The sculpted doors, carved poles and panels are dense with symbolism – the engraved mithun horns, tigers, pythons, hornbill beaks, human-heads, monkeys made with basic tools like the dao, axe, adze, and chisel all connect to their lived experiences. The wood carvings are often colored in black, terracotta and white pigments derived from natural sources; they proclaimed the status and power of the house owner or the village itself.

“The Naga Show” a photographic anthropological journey captured assiduously over a decade by photographer Pablo Bartholomew is on view at Nine Fish from 26th February 2022 to 24th March 2022. Their artwork and their magnificent embellishment are eminently manifested in these photographs showcasing the authenticity of Naga furniture. The show is complemented by original pieces of Naga furniture and artifacts from The Great Eastern Home’s collection. The presentation of the material objects of the Naga peoples alongside the photographs brings home the nuanced sophistication of these unique tribes.

Talking about Naga style furniture Dr. Anurag Kanoria, Director, The Great Eastern Home, said “Naga style furniture is massive in scale and form, but graphic in representation Carved doorways, beds, Naga-related goods, and paintings will be on show at The Great Eastern Home in Naga style. The carved wooden designs are not just artful and striking – they are steeped in meaning. The Naga style furniture at The Great Eastern Home is authentic and one-of-a-kind.”
