TRANSforming Pride and Prejudice – An Anudip Foundation initiative to transform lives of Trans communities

Kolkata, 2nd August 2022: With an objective to create dialogue aiming to shun the prism through which the incredibly diverse TRANS community is viewed and continued to be tainted in all spheres of life, ANUDIP FOUNDATION, an Indian non-profit organization hosted a power-impact webinar session Trans_forming Pride and Prejudice on the 30th July, 2022, Saturday. The webinar introduced the non-profit’s diversity, equity, and inclusion cell called ANUDIP ASSOCIATION FOR DIVERSITY & INCLUSION (AADI) which promulgated questions, responses and discussions signaling the trans individuals emotional well-being, empowerment, and inclination to live with dignity with the rest of the world.

Miss Ranjita Sinha, a front running Transgender activist, Mr. Pawan Dhall, a Kolkata-based LGBTQIA+ activist, archivist, researcher and writer, Miss Sudipa Chakraborty, a transgender social worker, Dr. Srenwantee Bhattacharjee, Assistant Professor in Social Work at St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata and Ms Sneha Sarcar, an experienced educationist and writer from Ireland, together with other eminent voices, thought leaders and passionate advocates were the key dignitaries who attended the event. The session addressed the dire need of raising increased awareness about the violence, discrimination, and stigma still faced by the Trans individuals, despite how the resilient, and strategic LGBTQIA+ leaders, allies, and civil society organizations in every country are working tirelessly to continue advancing the rights of all people across the diverse spectrum of sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions.

CEO and Chief Mentor of the Human Transformation Model at Anudip Foundation, Ms Monisha Banerjee, emphasized, “At Anudip Association for Diversity and Inclusion, we will attempt to nullify the inequalities that the most vulnerable groups in the country face- especially those coming from economically weaker sections of society. This includes people with disabilities, gender non-conforming or non-binary people such as trans groups, children of sex workers, victims of trafficking etc. The issues faced by these groups are diverse and deep-rooted and call for initiatives and solutions that are transformational and long-term. In order to inch towards a truly inclusive society, one will need to work on anti-discriminatory policies, sensitization of all stakeholders, education, health and insurance, investment in trans specific diversity training and employment and more.”

The 120 hours of the webinar helped mobilize a surge of activism from leaders and advocates leaving the evening open to some thought-provoking insights and commitment from ANUDIP to commence their humanitarian intervention to leverage Trans visibility, diversity, and perseverance in education, employment and technology livelihoods.

There was the screening of Atul Satya Koushik’s play, ‘Ballygunge 1990’ . The splendid evening was graced by many guests like Classical Singer Meeta Pandit, Artist Niladri Paul, Artist Manisha Gawade, Sitarist Aayush Mohan, and Artist Nupur Kundu, and Lipika Sud.

In order to deliberate on the rising incidences of cancer cases in the country and to highlight the advancements in the treatment modalities of various cancers, BLK-Max Super Speciality Hospital, New Delhi organised the launch of ‘Cancer Mukt Haryana’ campaign- an initiative to create awareness on Cancer disease and remove the stigma and fear attached with the same in the State.

The launch of this campaign ‘Cancer Mukt Haryana’ was done in the presence of Dr Monika Verma (Cancer Survivor) Principal – Tikaram Girls College, Sonipat as Chief Guest, and Dr Surender Dabas, Senior Director & HOD- Surgical Oncology & Robotic surgery, BLK-Max Cancer Centre, New Delhi, who is a torchbearer of the campaign and Dr Sajjan Rajpurohit Director- Medical Oncology.

On the occasion of Lung Cancer Awareness Day, Dr. Surender Dabas, Senior Director & HOD- Surgical Oncology & Robotic surgery, BLK-Max Cancer Centre, New Delhi emphasized on the rising incidences of lung cancer in the country and especially in this region.

The event also saw a huge participation from various cancer survivors who shared their experience about the positives of their journey in fighting cancer and a better quality of life post treatment to induce hope for the present patients.

Sharing her intriguing and inspirational journey to survival, and various challenges faced by her, hon’ble Chief Guest and cancer survivor, Dr. Monika Verma said” While the disease tarnishes one’s stability and willpower, there are few who have successfully won the battle against the disease and have set an example for others who might be going through similar situations. Pertaining to the fact that cancer deeply invades the patient and their family, physically, mentally and financially, this campaign is a boon for people of Haryana. Of all cancers, lung cancer is one of the most lethal cancers with the highest mortality rates recorded globally. Lung Cancer is one of the most common cancers in India and has emerged as Global Killer. According to the GLOBOCAN 2018 report – Lung cancer ranked fourth overall among the various types of cancer in India; in males, it ranked second while in females it was sixth in terms of cancer incidence. The incidence of lung cancer is increasing each year with the trends in India following its global counterpart. With time, there has been a better understanding of the biology of the disease, with screening protocols put in place to detect the signs of lung cancer at an early stage.

India, 2nd August 2022: Cosmo Ferrites Limited, a leading manufacturer and exporter of Soft Ferrites and an emerging player in wire wound magnetic components today declared its financial results for the quarter ended June 2022.

The net revenue and EBIDTA increased on YoY basis backed by higher volumes (20%), increased sale of technologically advanced ferrite cores, higher raw material prices and improved internal efficiencies. The results were impacted by non-recurring fixed cost of around 1.5 crores.

As at June 2022, the Company’s ROCE stands at 42%. Net Debt at Rs. 54 crores is 1.7 times of EBITDA.

Commenting on Company’s performance Mr. Ambrish Jaipuria, Chairman, Cosmo Ferrites Ltd. said “During the end of the quarter, new Soft Ferrites manufacturing capacity has kicked off operations which will enhance Company’s capacity by 50%. The Company has also placed order for a Top Hat Kiln to meet customers growing demand for higher permeability ferrite cores (technologically advanced ferrite cores) which is expected to start operations from FY24 and will further improve sales mix towards value add products.”
