Mitsubishi Electric India Launches 6th Edition of Its National Automation Competition
India,July 22nd, 2025 – Mitsubishi Electric India, a world leader in the manufacture, marketing and sales of electrical and electronic equipment, has officially launched the 6th edition of its flagship engineering and technical competition — the Mitsubishi Electric Cup (ME Cup). This is a national-level competition that challenges engineering and technical students to apply industrial automation technologies to solve real-world problems.
Revived post-COVID, in collaboration with MIT World Peace University (MIT-WPU), Pune, the 6th edition is open to diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate students and invites top technical minds from across the country to design, build, and demonstrate intelligent automation systems using Mitsubishi Electric’s Factory Automation (FA) products or CNC Components. The 6th edition of the Mitsubishi Electric Cup was launched across the country on July 18th, 2025, with registrations open online at – Mitsubishi Electric Cup – National Level Automation Competition for Students.
Reinforcing its commitment to building future-ready engineering talent, this year’s edition is themed “Automating the World through Digital Innovation.” Based on Mitsubishi Electric’s corporate statement that we are not only helping a world of industries, but also a world of societies to apply automation for the greater benefit of human being.
“This competition is about igniting innovation in the next generation of engineers,” said Dr. S Sriram, Division Head – Factory Automation Systems and Director, Mitsubishi Electric India. “India is rapidly moving towards smart manufacturing and digitalization, and the industry need engineers who can create intelligent, sustainable, and efficient systems. Mitsubishi Electric Cup helps students bridge classroom knowledge with practical applications.”
The top 35 shortlisted teams will build working models in areas like intelligent manufacturing, energy efficiency, and smart automation. Mitsubishi Electric India will support them with technical training and FA components on a returnable basis. The winning team will be awarded a cash prize of ₹1,00,000, the runner-up team ₹75,000, and the third-place team ₹50,000. All participants will receive certificates of participation. In addition, this competition Winner of Competition will get an Opportunity to Enrol in MECA Global Competition, Japan – Sept’ 2026.

Proposal submissions are open till September 1, 2025, and the shortlisted teams will be announced on September 26, 2025. Selected teams will receive FA components, CNC Components and technical training to develop their automation models. The final competition will take place at MIT-WPU, Pune from February 19 to 21, 2026, featuring orientation sessions, prototype exhibitions, jury evaluations, and a prize distribution ceremony.
