An NRI Shri Raghuneel Reddy donates Rs 50,000/- to DWAB, Development and Welfare Association of the Blind. DWAB is a blind school and an organisation of blind for the blind.

DWAB is totally run the contributions of the philanthropic individuals. The government support is very hard to come. Every penny contributed is highly appreciated said P. Chokka Rao of the DWAB in a press note issued in the city.

Chokka Rao thanked the donor for his support. He appealed to other philanthropic individuals to make a donation, which means a world to us, he said.

Blind organisations are struggling hard due to corona. Blind depend on others for their movement. During the COVID, no one comes forward to help the blind move freely.

DWAB delegation submits a representations to Chairman SHRC Justice G. Chandraiah

Development & Welfare Association of Blind (DWAB) delegation lead by P. Chokka Rao, General Secretary, President K. Venkata Subbaraju, Vice President Ranga Rao, Treasurer Paramesha and Executive Member Karnati Vijay Kumar submitted a representation with two demands to Chairman SHRC(State Human Rights Commission), Telangana Justice G. Chandraiah about the problems being faced by the Blind and urged him to help resolve them as they have been in pending for 12 years.

Many representations were submitted to many concerned authorities but they are still not solved. The delegation met the SHRC Chairman Justice Chandraiah here in its office at Nampally in the city today.

They demanded regular financial aid to the DWAB blind school by the Telangana state government without looking for the support of the central government.

The delegation urged a Government Order(GO) making it mandatory to distribute pensions to the school-age blind children only after producing 90% attendance certificates from the schools.

Chokka Rao, who is also a Secretary All India Confederation of Blind(AICB) said that they have been requesting the State Government to look into their demands for a very long time.

The SHRC Chairman Justice Chandraiah and Shri Ananda Rao both have heard our problems patiently and issued Notice with Numbers 5698/2020, 5699/2020 asking Government to reply within 14 days, Chokka Rao informed.

The DWAB—Development & Welfare Association of Blind, was started with a view to cater to the needs of blind community across the state without any discrimination of caste, community, sex and age

DWAB expresses its shock and grief at the death of Naini Narsimha Reddy

The DWAB—Development & Welfare Association of Blind, a Blind School Run by Blind expressed its shock and grief over the death of Naini Narasimha Reddy, the former Union leader and Home. In a statement they issued in Hyderabad today, they recalled his services for the welfare of the visually challenged.

The office-bearers of the DWAB, headed by its Secretary P. Chokka Rao said Naini was the well-wisher of the blind. He was always there at our beck and call. He helped blind in many ways.

He fought for us in Charminar factory and got the visually challenged the wages on par with the ordinary people. He stood by us. He helped us get three agreements in our favour.

He was among the 1st voices for separate Telangana. The Visually impaired face many problems living their life. Not many turn up to extend help.

Finding and keeping a job has always been a problem for us. Even if we get job companies used to consider us to be a liability to them. This negative impact on the confidence and emotional wellbeing of the visually impaired cripple their economic independence.

Naini, as a union leader, used to explain this to many managements and convinced them to hire visually challenged for suitable roles Naini Narsimha Reddy was a different person. We can proudly say he was one such a labour union leader and a politician ever ready to help us.

“The unfortunate demise of the leader leaves a void that cannot be filled. He strived hard for the welfare of the visually challenged community. The DWAB extended it deepest condolences to his family”.
