Only One Earth: Cosmo Foundation plants 15,000 trees

Cosmo Foundation, the philanthropic wing of Cosmo Films Ltd., today planted more than 15,000 trees at the Army Equestrian Centre, Delhi Cantonment in association with Prayas Youth Foundation – a leading environmental organization in New Delhi.

The drive is a part of Cosmo Foundation Go Green Initiative to take a step towards creating a green and clean environment while contributing directly to the well-being of Mother Earth and our future generation. As of now, the foundation has planted more than 50,000 trees under the initiative across India.

Speaking on the occasion, Hon’ble Lt. Gen. SS Mishra (QMG) addressed the attendees and said, “We are very appreciative towards the efforts of environment conscious businesses like Cosmo Films Limited. Cosmo foundation’s contributions are significant in preserving the greenery of Delhi and would benefit the people around. This massive tree plantation drive of Cosmo Foundation will help to improve UN SDG no: 15. Life On Land – that emphasizes planting of tress to help protect the environment.”

Under Cosmo’s Miyawaki project, the pioneer Miyawaki technique would be used to restore forestry cover in urban spaces. This technique is very useful in creating forests in small urban spaces as it allows for plants to grow 10 times faster and the plantation to be 30 times denser than usual. It involves planting dozens of native species in the same area, and becomes maintenance-free after the first three years.

Mr. Ashok Jaipuria, Chairman & Managing Director, Cosmo Films Limited, said “Cosmo Foundation’s philosophy is built on a robust environmental sustainability agenda and the determination that we can bring about change in the society. Through this initiative, we aim to encourage tree plantation and preservation of nature to uphold environmental balance by our communities in our areas of operations and beyond. As part of our consistent efforts to combat climate change in India, we will plan more such plantation drive in the near future and take every possible step to make our society greener and sustainable.”

On this occasion Ms. Yamini Kumar Jaipuria, Managing Trustee of Cosmo Foundation said, “Cosmo Foundation has been at the forefront of preserving natural spaces and environment. We want to meaningfully engage at the intersection of community and sustainability. With this plantation drive, our goal is to do our part in order to protect the environment by planting as many trees as possible. These efforts are also valuable to communities and people living around as they enable the conservation of green ecosystems.”

Cosmo Foundation Organises a Two-Day Vaccination Drive

New Delhi: Cosmo Foundation organizes a two-day vaccination drive as a part of their vaccination series at Sanjay Camp, Sewa Bharti, Sewa Kendra, Chankyapuri, New Delhi on 18th & 19th of September 2021 in association with the National Service Scheme of Delhi University – SVC – South Campus

The drive is commenced by Ms. Pragya Anand, ACP, Chankyapuri. A total of 400 people will be inoculated with the vaccine against COVID-19 during the two days drive.

As a part of Covid 19 initiatives undertaken under the leadership of Yamini Jaipuria, Managing Trustee, Cosmo Foundation, the first vaccination drive was kick-started in June 2021 and it has so far administered 10,000 thousand doses and continues to accelerate its drive to reach more and more people to stave off the third wave.

New Delhi: Cosmo Foundation, the social arm of Cosmo Films Ltd., has organised a one-day vaccination drive against COVID-19 for the people of Delhi today at Satya Jeevan Leprosy Society in Lajpat Nagar.

The vaccination drive marked the presence of Ms. Meenakshi Lekhi, Minister of State in the Ministry of External Affairs and Ministry of Culture Govt. of India.

Since 2008, Cosmo Foundation has worked extensively towards the cause, increasing outreach to neighbouring villages of their manufacturing units (Vadodara, Aurangabad & corporate office, Delhi) to promote the quality of life for the community. The COVID-19 was one of the most challenging times humanity has witnessed and CF took it as an opportunity to serve and support the rural marginalized community, stranded and migrant labourers, police and health workers, educators, pregnant & widow women, COVID affected patients and their families, elderly & abandoned, etc.

Aiming to be a helping hand in such testing times, COSMO Foundation used its wide network to facilitate people with necessary help in several locations in India. It includes a range of initiatives such as delivery of food and grocery, hygiene kits, medical equipment & vaccines, massive COVID awareness to promote COVID appropriate behaviour, registration on Arogya Setu App & vaccination, COVID care counselling to abbreviate the fears, misinformation, ignorance & build understanding on symptoms, precautions, correct methods of quarantine etc. Cosmo Foundation also put huge efforts to engage rural children in the educational process on digital platforms.

“COVID-19 has taken a big toll on people’s lives, just wearing masks, washing hands and maintaining a social distance is not enough. We need to get people vaccinated as soon as possible so that we can counter the increasing number of cases and cure ourselves to keep continuing our productive life,” said Ms. Meenakshi Lekhi, Minister of State in the Ministry of External Affairs and Ministry of Culture Govt. of India.

Talking about the drive, Mrs. Yamini Jaipuria, Managing Trustee, Cosmo Foundation, said “no one can predict what the future holds for the people of our country as we are seeing new variants of Covid-19 which are about to strike us with new waves. Our priority should be to get people vaccinated as soon as possible to fight against COVID-19. We need to promote vaccination drives and increase the vaccine counts in order to decrease the death counts. Together we can win this fight against the deadly disease.”

Cosmo Foundation has organized Vaccination Drive for 400 Delhi Traffic Police Personnels and their families on 12th June 2021 in Ashok Vihar, New Delhi and for 400 Iskcon Devotees on 26h June 2021 at Iskcon Temple, East of Kailash.

Cosmo Foundation Installs a New Carbon Compacting Plant in J&K as a part of its Green Initiatives for the Indian Army

Cosmo Foundation, the social arm of Cosmo Film Ltd., announces the installation of a new carbon compacting plant in the valley of J&K as a part of its Green Initiatives to support the Indian Army and offset the carbon footprint of increasing non-biodegradable materials generated by the locally stationed troops in the Poonch and Mendhar districts of Jammu and Kashmir. With an aim to augment the existing carbon compacting plant in the Rajouri district, the new Tetra Pak Milk (TPM) compacting plant will compact the empty TPM cartons into small pellets which will be cost-effectively expedited to a recycling plant at Khatima, near Dehradun in Uttarakhand.

The induction of the specialized compacting plant, undertaken by Cosmo Foundation in line with its sustainability initiatives, is an effort to reduce the non-biodegradable annual waste of 12,00,000 empty cartons of one litre milk Tetra Paks – consumed by the Indian army due to rarity of fresh produce in the often-inhospitable terrains where the Indian Army operates and procured from civil traders in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Punjab and Jaipur for troops stationed along the border as a part of daily rations – and recycle this vast quantity of aseptic packages containing layers of plastic and aluminium.

Mrs. Yamini Jaipuria, Managing Trustee, Cosmo Foundation notes, “The addition of the compacting plant in Poonch will aid in creating a sustainable recycling chain in the Valley and will be another step forward under Cosmo Foundation’s Green and Clean Initiatives. It is indeed, an honour for us to contribute to the Indian Army through this small step in their ecological drive.”

On the occasion of installation of the plant, Major General Rajeev Puri, VSM, General Officer Commanding, noted, “This is to express my sincere gratitude to Cosmo Foundation for its contribution to the armed forces in an effort to conserve our environment and boost the ecology.”
