New Delhi, September 3, 2020 – Qlik® today launched two new resources that build on the recent global IDC study sponsored by Qlik. The study shows organizations that invest in creating data-to-insights (D2I) capabilities through modern data and analytics pipelines are seeing significant gains. Through the new IDC hosted assessment tool (www.D2I-Score.com), every organization can evaluate the strengths and gaps in their own data pipelines. The tool also provides a set of recommendations that will help organizations better support and focus on strategic investments that can have a significant bottom-line impact. 

“Indian organizations are missing a crucial opportunity to impact their performance by turning data into ongoing business value due to gaps in leaky data pipelines,” said Varun Babbar, Country Manager, Qlik India. “Qlik’s unique end-to-end approach to data integration and analytics can help any organization act at the speed of data through improved data-to-insights capabilities that drive tangible business outcomes.”

The overall survey of 1,200 business leaders show there are key differences in how each country is approaching data pipelines and their D2I capabilities, and how those approaches are impacting business performance.

·         The average D2I score is 41.8 across Asia Pacific. India showed the highest overall score at 47.4, with Australia close behind at 42.4. Singapore and Japan carried the lowest scores at 38.8 and 38.5, respectively.

·         Virtually every company surveyed across Asia Pacific reported a significant challenge in identifying which data sources were valuable. Singapore recorded the highest rate of this challenge (100%), followed by India (98%), Australia (97%), and Japan (89%).

·         The greatest challenges for Indian organizations in capturing data and moving it for processing are ensuring all relevant data is captured (53%), transferring data in a timely manner (46%), and ensuring data quality (45%)

·         The greatest pain points for Indian organizations in processing data into an analytics-ready form are refreshing and updating data correctly (53%), assuring data correctness (49%), and dealing with missing and incomplete data issues (47%).

·         When it came to executing data analytics, presenting analytics in a clear and persuasive form (55%) and conducting the appropriate analytics for the issue being examined (52%) remains the two main pain points among Indian organizations.

·         Improved operational efficiency (81%), customer satisfaction/loyalty (81%), and profit (78%) were the most commonly reported improvements experienced by Indian organizations as a result of investments in data management and analytics.

Varun Babbar, Country Director, Indian Subcontinent at Qlik, continued, “Today, the most common challenges Indian organizations face are flawed analysis, data accessibility issues, and unrealistic targets. We have already seen how the right investments in robust data architectures and data literacy training can bring higher operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and profit to any business. Regardless of the regional differences, every organization is inundated with complex and varied data types. Many are struggling to maximize the value of that data since it’s flowing through unintegrated and leaky data pipelines, often due to a lack of a data catalog and change data capture capabilities. Delhi, India, 3rd September 2020 — The global healthcare company Abbott today announced that it has received approval from the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) for its Ivabradine, once-a-day formulation. For chronic conditions such as cardiac diseases in India, adherence to a treatment is typically low , and when medicines have to be taken multiple times a day, convenience becomes a key patient need. To address this unmet need for more convenient dosing, Abbott developed India’s first “once daily” prolonged-release (PR) version of Ivabradine indicated for patients with chronic heart failure and chronic stable angina. This formulation will be more convenient for patients, which will help facilitate treatment adherence with the aim to improve health outcomes. Abbott plans to launch the Ivabradine PR tablets in the Indian market in the coming weeks.

In India, estimates of people with heart failure range between 1.3 and 4.6 million, with 0.5–1.8 million new cases recorded every year . According to the Global Burden of Disease study, an estimated 14.4 million men and 7.7 million women have lost their productive years to coronary heart disease-related disability .

While the burden of the disease is high in the country, non-adherence to treatment remains a key challenge. Studies have found that many people with cardiac disease in India don’t take their medicines as prescribed by their doctor and an AIIMS study estimates that non-adherence to medication ranges from 24% for people with cardiac disease to 50%-80% for people with hypertension .

With its new formulation, Ivabradine PR tablets can be prescribed as a once-a-day medicine compared to the multiple dosing generally required by patients for the management of the disease. A phase 3 clinical study conducted by Abbott across 21 centers in India, the first of its kind to be conducted for this formulation, showed Ivabradine PR once-a-day formulation to be comparable with the conventional Ivabradine twice-a-day, in the management of patients with stable chronic heart failure, with comparable efficacy and safety profile.

Talking about Ivabradine as a therapy for heart failure patients, Dr. Bharat Chanana, MD, DM CARD, Maharaja Agrasen Hospital explains, “45% of patients suffering from heart failure have a high heart rate with about 40% being hospitalized. The new once daily formulation of Ivabradine will facilitate patient adherence to treatment by reducing the pill burden. This will help control their heart rate and thus reduce hospitalization and improve quality of life.”

This formulation has been developed at Abbott’s Innovation & Development (I&D) center in Mumbai. The I&D center is an important global innovation hub for Abbott’s pharmaceutical business. Researchers at the I&D center use local insights to anticipate patient needs. These insights are linked with existing and innovative technologies to deliver meaningful innovation. Insights from physicians revealed the need for a simpler, more convenient dosing for Ivabradine, which led to the once-a-day solution.
Commenting on the new formulation, Abbott’s Regional Medical Director, Dr. Balagopal Nair, said, “Our goal is to improve health by enhancing medicines to meet patients’ unmet medical needs. Adherence to therapy is a critical factor to maximize the overall health of people with chronic heart failure or chronic stable angina. We have used the best technology and science to develop this new dosage formulation. The convenient once-a-day formulation will help improve overall treatment adherence, leading to better health outcomes.”

Chronic heart failure is a progressive condition in which the heart is unable to pump sufficiently to maintain blood flow to meet the body’s demands for oxygen. Chronic stable angina usually occurs due to obstruction or spasm of the arteries that supply blood to the heart muscle. Ivabradine helps maintain a stable heart rate and prevent it from spiking, which is an important prerequisite in reducing symptoms and in improving the prognosis of both conditions.

Zeal Foundation Collaborates with Delhi Government to provide education & nutritional support to Anganwadi kids

New Delhi, 3rd September 2020: In an endeavour to transform and empower children through education, Zeal Foundation, CSR arm of Delhi based air cargo, GSA airlines service provider – Zeal Global, has taken a pledge to extend its help to government and local communities. The foundation has been directing all their efforts to offer food relief for people who are largely affected by this pandemic especially students, kids and families from underprivileged sections of the capital.

The outspread of coronavirus has impacted millions across the world. The disease is paralyzing economies, overburdening healthcare systems, and upending life as we know it. The closure of schools due to the COVID-19 pandemic has obstructed the reliefs meant for children from economically weaker sections of society especially Anganwadi kids aged 3-8 years of age. They have been facing difficulties in accessing basic educational and nutritional services.

Through the collaboration, over 2000 educational and nutritional kits have been distributed to the slum area kids of age 3-6 years. Zeal Foundation identified, 1000 of such vulnerable kids belonging to more than 50 Angagwadi’s in Rajinder Nagar area who have been harshly impacted. The foundation’s efforts are premised on the vision that every child, irrespective of his/her socio-economic conditions has full and equal rights to access proper educational and nutritional support. The 3 centres for the distribution of these kits were – Valmiki Mandir Dusghra village, Chaupal, C Block, Budh Nagar and Sonia Gandhi Camp, Loha Mandi. To the existing relief efforts of the AAP government, the foundation contributed stationery kits comprising a notebook, pencil box, colour set etc. and nutrition packets to ensure sustenance. Under the coronavirus guidelines, the kids were ensured to be given masks and sanitizers beforehand following social distancing.

National Spokesperson and AAP MLA (Rajinder Nagar) Mr. Raghav Chadha, commenting on the distribution stated, “We are facing challenging times with the onset of a pandemic. There are so many students and kids from the Anganwadis that depend on school and meals to nourish their bodies and minds. The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted all these educational and nutrition-related measures delivered through schools. We are happy to join forces with Zeal Foundation in our on-going relief efforts in Rajinder Nagar Legislative Assembly with the distribution of stationary and nutrition kits to these kids.”

Commenting on the distribution, Nipun Anand, Founder, Zeal Foundation said, “COVID has affected many kids and families especially the ones belonging to underprivileged sections of the society. It’s important that we all come together to help those most in need in this critical time. By supporting the dedicated efforts of the AAP Government who continue providing much-needed access to food and education, we’re helping ensure that the Anganwadi kids can spend more time focusing on their wellbeing and education for a brighter future.”

With the support of the government, the foundation has ensured the continuous need for food resources to these people. Earlier, they distributed more than 10,000 meals to people from underprivileged sections of society in the Rajinder Nagar area.

The patient was in a respiratory failure with high oxygen requirement and his oxygenation was 80% on 15 litres of oxygen. He was treated with oxygen therapy, steroids, Pirfenidone, Bipap, and physiotherapy. The patient can do his daily activities with ease now.

Shravan Oberoi (Name changed), a resident of Chembur, encountered breathing problems in the Month of April. He visited a local doctor who gave medications but nothing seemed to do the trick. Later, his health deteriorated further and the patient was admitted to a hospital in Western Suburb, on June 2. A COVID swab was done on June 10 and he was tested positive for Coronavirus on June 12. He was treated for COVID 19. His family was constantly in touch with him via video calls and phone calls. Again, a COVID swab was done on June 22 and he was declared negative for COVID on June 24. After COVID swab turn negative patient was shifted to Zen Multispeciality Hospital for further management. On arrival to Zen he was in respiratory failure. His CT scan of chest showed extensive lung fibrosis.

Dr Arvind Kate, Chest Physician, Zen Multispeciality Hospital highlighted, “Lung fibrosis can be termed as a lung disease that occurs when lung tissue becomes damaged and scarred. This thickened, stiff tissue makes it difficult for the lungs to function properly. As lung fibrosis worsens, one becomes progressively shorter of breath. When The patient was admitted, he was critical on non-invasive ventilator, oxygen therapy, and in respiratory failure on June 26 at Zen Hospital. He was treated with oxygen therapy, steroids, Pirfenidone, Bipap, and physiotherapy. His was in the ICU for 12days and his condition improved within 3 weeks and was able to do his daily chores by his own. On discharge his oxygen level was 93%. The patient was discharged on July 23 on home oxygen therapy. Post COVID lung fibrosis needs equally efficient treatment in the near future. We may get such patient with POST COVID lung fibrosis. As covid centres are geared up for covid management, non covid centre also require to be equally efficient and receptive to treat post covid lung fibrosis.”
