Vedanta Aluminium Signs MoU to Boost Downstream Industries in Jharsuguda

Bhubaneswar,Apr.11 (BNP): Vedanta Aluminium on Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Singhal Steel and Power Private Limited, a unit of the Singhal Group of Industries, and SCOT-AL Metcon Private Limited, an associate of Scottish Chemical Industries and UAL Industries, to establish downstream aluminium manufacturing facilities at the upcoming Vedanta Aluminium Park in Jharsuguda.

The MoU signing ceremony was held in the presence of Minister of State for Industries, Skill Development and Technical Education, Sampad Chandra Swain, Additional Chief Secretary of the Industries Department Hemant Sharma, and other senior officials.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister stated that the initiative reinforces Odisha’s position as a leading industrial destination in the country. He highlighted that the aluminium park will accelerate investments, generate large-scale employment, and strengthen the state’s manufacturing ecosystem.

Hemant Sharma described the aluminium park as a significant step towards deepening Odisha’s industrial value chain, adding that the combination of robust infrastructure and strong policy support will enable industries to scale efficiently and competitively.

Vedanta Aluminium CEO Rajiv Kumar said the project reflects the company’s commitment to move beyond primary production towards value-added manufacturing, further strengthening Odisha’s presence in the global aluminium sector.

The Phase-I development of the aluminium park will span 56 acres and is envisioned as a flagship downstream manufacturing hub. The project is expected to attract fresh investments of over ₹500 crore and generate around 1,500 direct and indirect employment opportunities. It will also help industries reduce logistics costs, energy consumption, and production time.

Vedanta Jharsuguda CEO C. Chandru was also present at the event.

The initiative marks a major step towards industrial expansion and economic growth in Odisha, with a strong focus on job creation and value-added manufacturing.
