COWE Opens 20th Aveksha Day Care Centre for Industrial Workers at Apparel Park, Gundlapochampally

Hyderabad, July 24, 2025 — The Confederation of Women Entrepreneurs of India (COWE) inaugurated its 20th Aveksha Day Care Centre, a free facility for children of industrial workers and underprivileged families, at Apparel Export Park, Gundlapochampally in Medchal district.

Supported by the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), this centre marks the final addition under the SIDBI-COWE partnership, which has enabled the launch of 20 such centres across Telangana. In total, this becomes the 24th Aveksha Centre, with four additional centres launched in collaboration with a private construction firm for the benefit of construction workers.

The centre was formally inaugurated by Mr. Jay Kumar Gupta, DGM, SIDBI, in the presence of COWE Founder Directors Ms. Uma Ghurka and Ms. Madhu Tyagi.

Speaking at the launch, Mr. Gupta praised COWE’s relentless commitment: “Setting up 20 centres across industrial parks is no small feat. COWE has delivered impact where it’s most needed. I urge them not to stop here but to take this mission further—across Telangana and beyond.”

The newly inaugurated Aveksha Day Care Centre will serve up to 20 children aged 6 months to 6 years, offering safe, nurturing care Monday to Saturday, from 9 AM to 6 PM. The centre includes trained caregivers, support staff, and a security guard, with stringent quality and safety protocols in place.

“While the privileged can access creches and preschools, industrial workers often have no safe place for their children. Aveksha fills this critical gap—and it’s entirely free,” said Ms. Uma Ghurka.

Ms. Madhu Tyagi added that COWE’s Aveksha model is already transforming lives—reaching nearly 750 first-time working mothers and employing 71 women, including nearly 50 trained teachers. The centres, typically spread over 800–1,000 sq. ft., are located in industrial parks, urban bastis, and construction sites.

With over 1,800 women entrepreneurs across 12 states, COWE is redefining grassroots women empowerment. Aveksha, meaning “care,” stands as COWE’s enduring Mother’s Day gift to India’s working women—a practical solution enabling mothers to work with peace of mind while their children are safe.
