AVPS CHAKRAVARTHY

Hyderabad, April 22, 2025Chakravarthi AVPS, a distinguished pharma packaging entrepreneur from Hyderabad and an internationally recognized pharmaceutical packaging expert, was invited to deliver a keynote address and moderate a high-level plenary session at just just-concluded PHARMAP 2025, Europe’s premier pharmaceutical manufacturing and packaging congress, held recently in Berlin.

The congress brought together over 300 senior decision-makers from global pharmaceutical leaders, including Bayer, Roche, Johnson & Johnson, AstraZeneca, Novartis, Novo Nordisk, Pfizer, and Takeda. The event focused on cutting-edge advancements in packaging, supply chain management, and digitalization of pharma manufacturing, with sustainability, blockchain, IoT, and AI as key themes.

Chakravarthi’s keynote address, titled Safe Medicines: A Global Way Forward for Securing Pharmaceutical Integrity and Patient Safety,” struck a powerful chord. Citing historic tragedies such as the 1982 Chicago Tylenol incident and highlighting today’s fragmented global supply chains, he emphasized the critical importance of traceability, regulatory harmonization, and packaging innovation.

“Every medicine must be genuine, traceable, and safe,” he stated, spotlighting the pivotal role of advanced technologies such as RFID, blockchain, and serialization.

He proposed two strategic pathways to address global challenges:

  1. Digital Traceability for Developing Nations – Through scalable technologies and public-private partnerships.
  2. b– By aligning with international standards like GS1 and ICH, and fostering mutual recognition without compromising national interests.

As moderator of the insightful plenary session, Navigating Disruption: Innovation in Pharma Supply Chains, Chakravarthi led a robust discussion with experts from Takeda, LEO Pharma, New Bridge Pharmaceuticals, and the European Co-Packers Association. The session explored AI-powered planning, ethical automation, and the rising role of third-party logistics (3PL) in creating resilient supply chains.

The congress showcased groundbreaking trends such as digital twins in manufacturing and eco-conscious packaging solutions, reflecting the industry’s shift toward connected, data-driven, and patient-centric models.

Chakravarthi’s active presence underscored a resonant message: resilience, innovation, and ethical collaboration are the cornerstones shaping the future of global pharmaceuticals.
