Eye 2 You – Optometry Club Conducts Successful Eye Screening Camp at Eklavya Model Residential School
Vadodara, 22 August, 2025: In an initiative aimed at promoting eye health among school children, the Optometry Department’s student-led club, Eye 2 You, successfully organized a comprehensive eye screening camp at Eklavya Model Residential School, Waghodia, Vadodara.
The camp focused on the early detection of refractive errors, with a particular emphasis on identifying myopia, a condition increasingly being referred to as the “next pandemic” due to its alarming rise among children worldwide. By targeting Grades 6 to 12, the outreach program ensured timely vision assessments for students at a critical stage in their academic and personal development.
A total of 305 students underwent detailed eye examinations carried out by the dedicated members of the Eye 2 You club. The screenings aimed to detect vision problems early and provide appropriate guidance for corrective measures, thereby preventing potential long-term visual impairment.
The school administration expressed heartfelt gratitude to the organizing team, praising the efforts of the students and faculty for their dedication to improving community eye health. They acknowledged the initiative as an impactful step in safeguarding the visual well-being of their students.
Faculty members of the Optometry Department, under the leadership of HOD- Arunava Sen Gupta, have continuously encouraged students to take part in community outreach programs. These activities serve as vital platforms for practical learning while also making a meaningful difference in society.
“Early intervention is the key to preventing lifelong visual challenges. Through initiatives like these, we not only serve the community but also empower our students to become responsible healthcare professionals,” said Dr. Anil Bisen, Pro-Vost, ITM Vocational University.
Club President Noman Ansari led the initiative, with strong support from department faculty, reinforcing the department’s unwavering commitment to eye care awareness and public health outreach.
This event marks yet another milestone in the department’s mission to prevent avoidable blindness and raise awareness about visual health challenges facing today’s youth.
